ah, INTERESTING
i like finding these little novelties of map generation--makes the world feel more unique
oh same~
Yeah, not quite the backup I'd hoped for.
it's perhaps most common with swamp stuff, since the unique generation conditions of swamps make very weird biome borders a common occurrence
i think i have seen it the most with swamp trees & crypts ya
guck trees in the middle of nowhere are a classic
rare but iconic
How to change minimap zoom size?
i think the default binds are period and comma, you can change it in your keybinds
They are
anyone else having issues updating?
no
Please guys tell me what to do first in mistlands!! Me and my friend have no idea, we just roam there and we have no idea what things to do first
you gotta find some giant skulls, crack em open, get the good stuff inside, and find some of those dwarves with a certain crate and liberate its contents--the dwarves WILL try to kill you, unless you should so happen to contrive a way it's not TECHNICALLY you doing the damage directly and taking their stuff (if their ward breaks, you're safe to take their stuff as they no longer treat it as "their stuff")
Honestly, just keep wandering around until you hear the 'Poof' sound that Hugin makes. He'll sort you out.
Like other biomes, youβll want to find a dungeon and get everything inside it.
Also the Dwarf camps you will want what is inside their crates (use caution)
thanks guys
also, and maybe properly before that, you gotta find some bug infested mines--little entryways in the rock features--it's SUPER easy to miss everything in all the mist, so you may need to scour areas that you thought were just empty, good luck
Has anyone found the witch yet?
The first thing u do in mistlands is accept the inevitability of your demise
we first didnt know anything abt the dwarves and we broke their things in their place and they killed us but luckily we got our armors, weapons etc backπ
Jokes aside, the very first thing u do is chop some new trees
It all unfolds from it
lol, they pack a punch, esp. if it's a mixed group of mages and fighters
and my friend lost all his gears, bc he disconnected and died in same time, but we got em back too yesterday,
blackmetal gears and the paddedarmoms
Ah yes, another big thing, frost arrows
I am so excited to play on twitch tonight with the bog-witch being out and finding out what is new i managed to avoid most spoilers so it is gonna be very exciting π
i am giddy with anticipation π
I mean its possible, i had a world where a Draugr Village spawned in a meadows surrounded by swamp. there have been swamps small enough to spawn crypts in plains making it look like a plains crypt
btw how much coins do yall have
For the bog witch update, do I need to go to NEW ||swamp|| biomes we haven't mapped yet, or can it spawn in places we've already been?
5 coins
more than i ever could spent before a full box with my private character π
lol
me and my friend are the unluckiest valheim players , cause we lost our coins too like 5k atleast
new swamp biomes will generate it. I reckon from a brand new world. Bog Witch has the same number of possible spawns as Hildir and Haldor. theyll generate in the closest possible spawn point you encounter first
howd you lose coins
New. You need to find a zone where it hasn't been mapped yet.
We're in the middle of a playthrough so didn't want to remake the world.
So I guess we'll have to find new swamp biomes.
Does it have to be completely new, or does me just riding alongside the island possibly prevent it from spawning?
I asked the same earlier. If you've already explored the shoreline of a swamp, that section has been created and won't spawn the Bog witch.
Alright
You need to find a brand new swamp that you've never visited.
Now I gotta wait for a bunch of mods to be updated so I can play
i wonder if i did explore the swamps of all the locations where the bog-witch would spawn and have some i never touched...then i would be the most unlucky gal of the world...
went from liking the update to being kind of concerned, is there a way to get iron pre elder? Not sure if you would want/need meads EG healing or stamina for elder, but putting it behind iron age is a bit annoying for people who previously could use mead and now can't, may be seeing this wrong though
if it works like haldor/hildir..there are possibilities and if it can not spawn at any of the possibilities it can not spawn at all... am I right?
Are you saying you explored every swamp on the map?
i doubt bog witch would need all that much of it
nope i have not ... just a few... but what if i am as unlucky as i mostly are and those where all the ones where it would spawn?
Don't worry about it too much. I just found mine on an island I had partially sailed around right close to Hildir.
the gen update changes depend on what you've already explored - it'll try to place 10 in whatever unexplored swamp land is left
it might not end up being the full 10 because they can't be too close to each other, but it's very unlikely that there'll be 0
oh goooooood that means i got a fair chance... it will take me some time because it is me (found hildir only after defeating moder) but i have a chance and that is very calming π
I just crashed into a swamp tree in the ocean and now my karve is hanging at one of the brances
i need a screenshot of that
me too... that must look hilarious
sorry, just got off it π€£
XD, destroy it and rebuild it if you can't unstick it
2nd frostcave in new playtrough and found 2 frostlakes with tetra in same cave
Swamps are kinda thin, so those who wound the witch, was the map location added when sailing?
the two times i've found her so far, yea
would you say its on same radius from spawn point as other traders? im more on the south side rn from hildir and haldor spawns
yes, all of them are automatically marked the moment they spawn - it's the worldgen radius
but that does mean the radius varies slightly depending on chunk borders
it's funny, i haven't sailed since ashlands landing. it'll be fun to sail around a bit and find some new swamps looking for bog witch
I had to sail once since landing on Ashlands, only because the first Ashlands island I found was a small one with only one fortress and no flametal.
yeah, i took advice i heard and sailed south in the dead middle of the map. haven't had to find another ashlands landmass yet
it is a bit disappointingly sparse off to the sides, so much spiky sea with nothing inside it
Is there anything i should know for the moder fight? My arena is pretty cramped and my best foods are like turnip stew, sausage and carrot soup, plus i have medium health and stamina meads, don't have many advanced arrows, but i have like 160 wood and a quality 3 draugr fang
oh and a silver sword of qual 1
youre in the mountains, just make obsidian arrows.
obsidian arrows should be pretty cheap
do you have any iron weapons?
well nevermind, the silver sword's unhinged balancing strikes again, 75 slash at level 1 as opposed to the iron sword's 73 at level 4
yeah, axe, mace, got some spare black forest tier stuff like an abyssal razor too
also what about onions? you could have wolfskewer and onion soup?
guess i could do obsid or even needle arrows since i also found a plains
yea nevermind that note, the silver sword should be great π
i was too caught up in silver weapons like frostner. since she's immune to both frost and spirit, frostner is about as effective as a wooden club
i am stuck at loading is it normal?
Sailing for witch just rewarded me with first serpent trophy on this playthrought
after an update that deliberately changed worldgen, yes, it might take a while, just don't touch anything
oh thanks
what is spirit damage good for at mountains anyways?
frost caves
gonna be loading all my games now...so that i do not have to wait for it to load while on stream π
after that, ||growths|| and ||yagluth||
then nothing alllll the way until ||ashlands||
did they add like a crafting skill
yes
wacky
growths are spirit neutral according to the wiki tho
yepp
oh... it has a new icon "generating" how nice π
i don't think many enemies (if any) are weak to it, neutral is what you want
so you at least know it is still doing things
That was added a while ago
most enemies are completely immune
If you killed a serpent, definitely make a serpent stew for the fight, if not you can easily go kill one at night, better arrows will definitely help, both the razor and the sword will do good damage on her but it's mostly about dodging her attacks and being accurate with the bow when she is airborn
does crafting skill have a chance to craft an item twice or did i somehow craft 2 shields by accident
* Barley Flour max stack increased to 50 this one is nice. would have kept me from making quite has many chests as i did
yepp
no serpents sadly, going to look into serp stew and onions as others mentioned tho
That's one of its intended purposes
aw crap here we go again (abomination spawned)
As weird as it is, as you now have one extra piece of gear which is a little worthless in solo and only useful in coop.
If there was a way to recycle gear it would be greatly rewarded
Abominations are great... they make some of the most relevant armor in the game π
and are my favourite enemy to fight~
HOLD UP BONEMASS POWER OP THESE ABOMS ARE NOTHING
lol, the armor's great, but the giant wooden monsters that beat me to death? I dunno
free coal
Your caps lock is broken.
Naw, just flabbergasted
appropriate reaction to noticing how busted bonemass is
True tbh
Iron buckler or upgraded bronze buckler can parry them, they go down pretty quickly to axes or swords π
Ok, all caps approved by Helper, got it.

spose it is good to get a useful power (seriously elder woodcutting)
oh yeah, I've only recently worked up the courage to parry the big fuckers. finally got the timing for the fuling brutes
yepp, bonemass is what i always have on me, as an emergency immortality button
bonemass is only power I have ever used lmao
beserker?...brute?
Woodcutting skill is very useful at a time when most people are building their first proper base.
Hey, hey! Don't sleep on the elder power! It is really useful! Tip is to plant your tree seeds at the spawn, activate the elder power, use it, switch back to bonemass right away and start cutting.
or an "i wanna slaughter a fuling village in root armor" button
I would overlook it for once considering, as Winter said, they noticed for the first time just how much is Bonemass overpowered π
believe there are 10 possible sites, at least for the other traders, I am just assuming it's the same # for witch
-# i still think it should've also buffed mining, but i guess that ain't happening now
π‘ extra trophies of the bosses should let us switch to their powers anywhere they're hung
Didn't think it was 10, though it was 4 or 5
just portal to spawn, bruh
Yeah, that would have made sense, though thematically with Elder a walking tree I can see why it went the way it did.
Unfortunately, I don't start building a perma base until I get stone as I only build castles and fortified bases
I just used a mod to make elder power give me axe skill levels
yeah, but i would hope i could have at least got something useful for in swamps, unless abominations take more damage the better wood' is
Sounds like a you thing.
welll, greydwarfs are all wood and stone, even the elder has a big boulder stuck in his chest.
sure he's certainly more tree than rock, but i think the connection's good enough, especially with black forest being so focused on mining.
I hope you all have a good day today and most of all fun with the new update.
if anything better gathering in general would be so much more useful
Well it is, during the swamp and after you still need a bunch of coal and you always need finewood so that power is just useful all game long not just for the first base
you too
swamp also gives you free coal gen
omg how long have barrels been a thing
literally added only today (live)
just getting the stone for my floor took ages with my BF gear
can't make (pretty) cabinets with em but you can put them everywhere without it getting ugly, probably my new favourite container
That's why you portal the stones from mining copper home
oh good
in hindsight that would have been a great idea, shame i only found out about them when i got into my second swamp
Hello everyone! Anyone knows if it is possible to find the Bog Witch on live already?
Just kite a troll to deposits
let those big goons do the work for ya
yes, in unexplored swamps
wait we got barrels now (im to lazy to read the notes)
exciting, cant wait to play when i get home
Thanks, will keep searching for her then π
My favorite one for that job is the one without a log, his stomp just does so much damage and hit the deeper nodes too
just stumbled apon 3 lox, uh oh
we call that a stack of lox
hey we got this bog witch update today, right? I have a world I'm playing with friends, still in the iron age and I want to know if there's any way of having the new content in it, or do I need to create a new world...
ungenerated areas can always generate new worldgen content
find some new swamps
just a vendor, so she;s out there in the swamps waiting for you
yeah even if I'm too lazy/not convenient to portal home all the wood, rock (XD I was thinking "wood" when I typed "rock" initially, but I'm leaving this because it's too hilarious to me) and stone (or later, grausten), it try to stack it up in 50 piles so it doesn't despawn, so if I (as often is the case) happen to be in the area again I can pick it up
i like how this is an update that isn't 200 gigabytes big like in almost every triple A game
I tought the game's world is completely created when you create it, since the first load in is so long... also I can put the worlds seeds on websites that show me the map of the game, but if there are swamps I never entered there can be a chance of finding the witch? also, is the valheim world generator website updated to show the location of the witch?
all the first load does is place "points of interest" all over the world.
and everytime you enter a world after a big update, the game repeats this process in the unexplored parts of your world, hence why it may freeze on the first loading screen again
oh ok, thanks, so I just play normally, right? is there something I would need to do if I play modded through r2modman?
i don't think mods should prevent it from working as intended, but i can't say for sure π
Who would have known a huge half lizard bison thing could rip a human to shreds
whats a normal amount of fenris hair from one frost cave
okay, thanks
(do note that the world generation radius is a good bit wider than the map discovery radius. if you can see trees in the distance, that chunk is generated)
oh that is unfortunate
if you were to convert your world from, let's say, the mistlands update, to the ashlands update, and you've already stepped foot on the unfinished ashlands before you converted it to the newest version, artifacts in terrain may occur, if i'm correct
i have been avoiding to go to any place where i can see trees in the distance
i think i angered the 10th world itself
Can vary alot
I have a question about the fiery spice powder from the big witch, at what point in the game can I unlock that?
what would you consider a lot from a single cave then
but other than that you can pretty much just find the bog witch in any undiscovered swamp area
maybe 30?
ok so its not like ill have to raid 20 caves for the fenris set
cool thats manageable
It's unlocked after killing fader
Uuuuuggghhhh
if you want to fully upgrade it then i mean
Fire, Fader, makes sense.
hell nah.
not sure how much it took me last time but i had to plunder a lot of caves just to get it fully upgraded
This might be a really stupid question. How will I know if my game is the updated version? I didn't manually update, it may have done it by itself in the background.
also is moder forsaken power + ask cape not giving you wind run a bug or is it intended
I was just sailing around looking for unexplored swamps to find ||the swamp hag||, then had the worrying thought that it might not have even updated
check steam downloads
itll tell you latest update
ah yes, it says completed. Thank you!
Or check in game if you can now build a prep table and mead ketill
since the wind orients itself based on the rotation of the ship you're standing on, it's semi-intended but i don't know if they've commented on whether or not they wanna change that inconsistency
(considering how long wind direction takes to update, having it change with the facing direction of your character would be kind of a mess)
the wind changes with the rotation of your ship almost instantly
its always going to be backwind
there's a burst of speed in the change along the middle
looking now, there doesnt seem to be any new items that i can build. Unless I need to go and pick up the materials again?
they could just give you wind run permanently whilst you have it up and not worry abt that
that'd be kinda cheap imo
isn't the wind direction it's own thing, that persists whether or not you're on a ship--the little white arrow on minimap indicating, or the white "wind" motion lines--and that's how ask cloak buff already works, basically turning you into a "boat" of sorts on land, boosting speed when i nthe right angle to wind
It's in crafting station, maybe you might need to pick up iron, tin and copper again, idk I didn't need to
yeah but how much do we really care about which way the wind goes bruh
yeah honestly like @fading dew you could just literally tell it "for these 5 minutes, just ignore wind/facing, and give the buff constantly"
thats what im sayin
which way wind blows might have a play in the next biome
fair.
also with the ||swamp hag||, will an icon for her come up on my map the same as the other traders when you're near the area?
north tends to be windy
yes but i'm saying the slow adjustment speed of wind works much better with the slow turn speed of a ship than a player who can and will change their facing direction every couple movements
i think so but dont quote me
"As hratgen said, a icon will come up on your map to guide you to the witch in latest update of Valheim" - Discord, 29/10/24
also do we know if moder power changes literally all the wind or just the wind around you. if it's the latter i see no issue in letting the devs just give you windrun for the duration of the power
just the wind for everyone on the ship
i`m expecting some kind of fog/blizzard/slowing effect in north and cape will help in some way
why am i being quoted bruh π
You seem like trustworthy source
Kind people, please tell me, should we start playing with friends again on a new map after this update? It's just that a couple of days ago we just started playing(
continue the old one
unexplored areas can always generate new worldgen content
thank you
YYYEES my instintcs were right! Just got the icon for witch
theres a freaking greydwarf just chillin outside tf
i did load my privat world and did one sailby on one swamp i knew of... no luck... but well.. gonna go sailing a lot until i find it π
I pissed off the broom what do i do
piss it off harder
really?
well if it's pissed off, all you can really do to solve it is...take care of it
I don't know if they hold a grudge but I know they give a trophy and respawn
(it's gonna respawn eventually, at least it should.)
lmao this game
interesting that if you have a fire in a shield generator bubble, it looks like it's out from rain, but in terms of satisfying cooking tables, it's a lit fire
the cauldron will work. however, the hearth itself gives off no heat and has the smoking visual effect
Have the devs commented on inventory expansion, even if crafted? Especially now that we have more potions and foods (specifically feather cape buff being moved to a potion.)
I get that we don't need to carry everything all at once, but I think most people can agree since Ashlands that more inventory space would be appreciated.
Nothing of that sort planned afaik, you have to decide yourself what you need and what you dont
Ah, that's unfortunate
That you have to decide for yourself?
Guys any news for when the last patch will go on public general from public test?
any way to get rid of water under a rock
ground water is a function of the height of the ground. above certain height, no water. below certain height, water
The channel is right there
if you're trying to dig under a rock, and hitting water, that means you're below the height and you're out of luck. you need to find a rock that's at a higher elevation level and dig under that one instead
No
I commented my opinion the other day about all the new extra meads and items etc and how itβd be nice to either have a craftable satchel, or even a medicine bag craftable just for meads, or just having extra slots dedicated to Armor + Cape and belt/whisp/wishbone etc.
and Smiffe who is a Developer and Community Manager replied saying there is nothing planned in the works for updating inventory or adding Armor slots or potion slots or anything like that.
Kind of is what it is. At least getting the reply, I know not to hold my breath, and to just adjust playstyle.
i'm probably just gonig to stop carrying food, and eat at home. π
free up 3 slots immediately
the feasts are great for that
Ah, that's fair. It's nice to hear they actually responded. Still, many of their fanbase will keep asking. I have seen it be a point of frustration for a lot of their players. The attitude here seems very different from Reddit.
wise decision π
you could leave some meals in your boat for emergency that is what i do
New Patch
new World
Found Haldor on Day 2 lol
reddit is a very werid place. alot of angry people.
congrats
Discord is also very weird. They're just different.
i do not hang on reddit it seems toxic wasteland to me π
Yeah but if you run out of food out in the wild youβre just dead lol. I have been taking 1 extra food type with me on the go because initially it will occupy inventory slots, but by the time Iβm halfway thru the journey, I eat that 2nd meal, and inventory opens up
there's no "running out of food". there's "oh, food starting to wear off, time to portal home and sleep and eat"
fair enough, each have their quirks lol
if food runs 20 or 25 min than i will be home before that is a problem π
you sleep??
since i go home and sleep during the night, yes.
I can assure you that at least half of the people struggle with the management due to their own fault.
You cannot reasonably argue that having six different types of arrows is completely necessary to explore...
haven't slept in 200 days lol
Yeah I mean many people will install a minor mod to add a row of inventory slot etc but I donβt like to use any mods at all.
Like you said, at least they responded. I voiced my opinion and was heard. Is what it is, itβs their game lol
sleeping does not cost extra and furthers things like crops π
Eh I often like to be out longer than that. Also after 12.5 mins it starts diminishing already
yea but less time to do things. and how else would i hurt my eyes trying to build in the dark!
never kept me from staying in the plains until i am down to 1/3th of what i would have with full food...that was never a cause of death for me ... skill issues are usually my cause of dead π
I have more problems with becoming overweight than I do running out of actual spaces. I guess Iβm ocd tho and donβt carry 30 items with me at all times.
Yeah, I'm the same. I don't want to use mods either, I prefer to play the game as it was designed. Some folks are die hard for the devs vision, which is fine. There are plenty of players that would love to see QoL improvements, but it's ultimately up to the devs. It's nice they take suggestions at least, that's more than can be said for a lot of devs.
I like to do a playthrough of a game before ill start modding it lol. still on my first unmodded playthrough.
the one thing i wished they had after 250 days is plantable berry bushes
Foraging is an important part of the game
it is not like berries are by any means hard to come by... and you do not need a ton of them in the later biomes just a few for mead π
If the developers wanted us to farm for ingredients in a recipe they wouldβve put farmed items instead of foraged items in those recipes
like they have in some instances π
will my current world undiscovered areas update after bog witch update?
yeah it will
Hey - for whenever you are awake next Sevrahn, I tested the staff of fracturing and I was just being stupid.
The staff fractures into bits when you hit an enemy directly, applying multiple instances of burning.
It still does a great amount of damage if you can hit your enemy multiple times
Hello. I have a bug to report. The player based raids are active even if I deactivate them. This started happening after the bog witch patch. Please fix asap TY!π₯³
For someone who marks every berry and shroom location in Meadows/BF during the beginning of the game, running through the same places with speedy equipment won't be tedious task.
Ahoy, gamers.
You can't get the scythe until post moder and it can't even be used as a weapon. Lame.
just found some weird terrain generation
cant upload screenshot but the eastern edge of this swamp is a straight and flat line north to south
on my second (technically third) playthrough and this time around the swamp is actually really fun ngl
it really does pose a form of challenge that the other biomes just dont really do and is fun n unique in its own way
hmmmm
You were right!! thank you so much π
So I just made myself a small dock at one of my bases so my boat isn't pressed against a rock, but I've learned high tide wave can have me wet on the dock. It's at perfect height for low tide is the problem. Will any form of walls keep the waves off if I cover the sides? Or will I just have to deal
Just gotta deal, unfortunately. That's the nature of the water layer of the world.
you could always raise the dock higher, that's the only way I know that will keep it above the "high water" line
I woulda made it slightly higher, but then getting out of my boat would be difficult without the jump mead
If nothing else, make it out of stone and it will resist the water damage. I'll sometimes make tall docks with stairs down to the regular water level.
yeah the only compromise i can think of would be, drop a set of stairs from it down into the water
Hello, I am looking for a team to start playing. Anyone can help?
I suppose. Make like an emergency low tide ladder
I'm not really upset about the watter damage. The green wood looks more like a dock tbh. And since it won't fully break from water/weather π€·
You gave me an idea so I built it in. I posted a screenshot. Thanks!
I have to inform you all that my daughter thinks there should be bears in Valheim
nice!
We have boars, that's only one letter away.
i agree
Farming skill also makes it less of an issue now.
Yes, especially when you get to level it up earlier now, I got my farming skill lvl to 50ish in my end game world I tested in PTB so imagine how much it can get throught entire game (unless you die a lot)
Yes, if it wasn't problematic before it's even better now.
what is this feast thing?
Do you want specific answer or direction to it?
Have you bought spices from her?
yes all of them
Ok, basically you create feast food in ||Preparation table||, then put it on table with Serving tray
It provides ||10 portions of food that last 50 minutes|| and ||grant balanced stats (HP, Stamina)||
Wow, I looked at the subreddit. Damn, they're rabid.
in joy and excitement?
No.
Reddit and joy don't fit together well.
y'all just going the wrong places, stick to the wholesome threads of people posting their builds to praise and affirmation
or twitter
You mean all the bridges? π
No, just the current hate filled thread about the new update.
That channel only brings depression, as i can only build box homes π
Spreading all my carrots across two food sources is rough, but the swamp doesn't wanna give me a fucking turnip
hi people
hello, does anybody know how to buy powder to make feast from mistland and ashland ? cause when i go to bog witch. the material didnt show up. it is because i havent beat the boss ?
whats there to hate
new content π
thats also goes to barrel string
You need to kill a boss to get the coresponding biomes spice
you have to beat certain bosses
Well, they're taking the controller bug rather badly as well as the imagined cape nerf.
@frigid swallow @merry pebble oh ok thanks for the information.
i heard about the cape one....its effect being replaced with a potions huh..
Kinda, they just made the cape a little bit less op π
a great sadness befallen
was it op?...by that logic so was the ashen cape cuz i totally wanted to use it over the feather cape a bunch of times in the ashlands
Its still better than it was for most of its existence
Wouldn't call is a replacement as using the potion and cape together is much better than what the cape used to give
so did they change the jump boost or the boost when jumping off highroung, Ive been using the feather cape to go over lava in ashlands
by jumping into lava and instantly jumping back up
I dunno i am going through progression rn so maybe i shouldn't judge immediately cuz i have no fcking i dea
The 20% jump boost is removed but the stamina cost of the jump reduction remains
They removed the temporary jump boost.
bold
ok its trash then
Trash? It's still the best cape in the game.
I know, I always use methods that nobody would advise to
Anyone having an issue with the inventory after this psych update? I play on console (Xbox) and when I try to go through my intentory and is moving by itself like I have a stick drift. Itβs only been on Valhiem and not in any other game. Anyone else having this glitch after the patch update?
Literally everyone.
Not me but I also play with mouse and keyboard as Odin intended.
Obviously I'm talking about about those on controller.
i am surprised by how many people play the game on console....i thought the world would evolve one of these days π
I know I'm just being a jackass. though I did see someone playing one of those shooter games using what appeared to be a recorder like the musical instrument. I could get behind that.
What sort of weird attitude is that? Also, I said controller, not console.
I play with a controller
aim assist em deers
Its called comedy πΏ
Let's not start this stupid argument again.
I play apex on roller I know all about it π
As a controller player, it really really is bad
was the default rate of starred mobs increased or something? π cause before they felt like they nonexistent but now they everywhere
Oh, I absolutely agree it's terrible, but they're acting like the devs killed their first born.
whats the alternative, playing on a pc with a controller
Not that I'm aware of.
That would be it, yes.
I play with a controller and laptop
Whyyyyyy....wtfff
Hey bois are mods working
Btw. Do i need to load a new seed to get the bog hag
The updated ones, yeah.
Still no. As long as you have unexplored Swamp.
I left hand mouse, and honest keyboard and mouse controls donβt work great that way for this style of game.
guess im just unlucky. 2 star greydwarf brute on a fresh world where all i got is a stone axe.. π
@vocal rivet so like craft from contaiers , equipment and quickslots no?
@vocal rivet I slept for 7 hours and chat is having the same discussion about controllers?
Did you all just push pause on life and wait for me to get back? πππ
left handed huh
Define unexplored. I started seeing part of one.
huh
I assume a lot of people who spend 10 hours a day sat in front of a PC using a keyboard and mouse for work don't want to use them for gaming when they get home from work
No, it just keeps on coming back.
If I donβt use left-handed, mice and controls, I get carpal tunnel syndrome, so thatβs where Iβm at
Agreed itβs kinda unplayable. I am trying to scroll to my pickaxe for a certain metalI need and it wonβt let me π
i would, not everyone that works does so at a computer anyways.
If you've seen it, it's generated. Otherwise you should be fine.
Did I say they did?
Personally i write all professional emails on my xbox one
π«
@vocal rivet When do u think the basic mods like equipment qucikslots and crafty contaners will update?
chat has weird vibe, going back to game.
You've created the weird vibe by being a keyboard and mouse only fanboy
Everyone else is being open minded about it
odin do you play fps by any chance
I haven't tried playing with controller tbh - I have enough problems aiming with my thumbs that I know trying to build with my thumbs would likely result in my throwing a controller through a window.
Only in VR these days but I was playing CS in 2001 with a keyboard and mouse. Valheim doesn't come close to requiring it however
lmk when could use a new rolla
Trackball mouse superiority!!
/s
Yeah maybe I should try playing w/ my yoke and rudder from my flight sim setup
fanboy right, one is only objectively and consensus-decided better but alright..
Switch to giant orange Nintendo gun for aiming your magic.
just let people play how they want man π€¦ββοΈ
Wait....
Valheim using original Wii-mote. π
Switch to a steering wheel and pedals when youβre riding a lox
Dude I might be able to actually hit a hare with my bow if I try that
Yaawn....when did i imply otherwise...guys stop using controllers or i'll destroy you!!!
So I assume xbox is just gonna be a little fucked for now?
They'll already be working on fixing it.
Yes, was the answer to that question.
That sounds like a fair assessment, yeah - until a patch comes. I'm kinda surprised they released to public with it that way but I find my philosophy on software development isn't always aligned with others.
Coool Guess Ill go touch grass
Use that hard plastic bow peripheral to snap the Wii-mote into for more immersion.
lol
I think it's been universally decided a bad Idea.
I couldn't get any worse at aiming, that's for sure
It makes the game a lot more interesting. Just don't got testing out any of the new potions in your highest biome till you get used to them whilst your controller is bugging out...
I didnt want to go outside today so this sucks lol
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
I had that in my head, too.
Now, where did I put my towel
Douglas Adams perchance
Alright speaking of sticking thumbs out I better remove my own and get some work done. See y'all vikings later.
Yes the towel quote sealed it
well f me I went to sleep and woke up to skeletons and greydwarfs fighting next to my precious ONLY vineberry. Jumped off second floor just to get there in time.. but it was too late
Chat is hilarious rn.
I don't quite get if people actually prefer a controller over keyboard and mouse if not out of necessity....i used playstation for years until i got a good pc, now i haven't touched it in years..
Ok? Your experience isn't universal.
Went from xbox - pc- ps - back to pc now cus ps broke down after owning it for 3months
@merry pebble do you also know why barrel string didnt show up on my bog witch server ?
You're welcome to not get it. I don't get a lot of decisions that people make in life but don't try and force your opinion on others
Barrel string? Do you mean barrel hoops? Those are sold by Haldor π
oh lol
Haldor has a purpose again.. barrelman
Nope π (btw, Hildir also has something π )
the harvest costume ?
Yep π
Your ego is what's frustrating you. You seem to feel the way you think is the only way. That's always going to be frustrating as the world is full of so many differing opinions
After all your inciteful comments earlier I'm inclined not to care too much
I mean chat today can't seem to take a single joke soo π₯΄
I do get the confusion about controller preferences. My gf, who uses a controller for literally everything else, prefers mouse and keyboard for valheim. To each their own, of course, but I personally can't imagine using a controller for this game.
You've yet to make one.
Riiight
Yeah it's interesting, I've only played VH with a handful of other people, pretty much all on kbm but I've got a lot of hours in the game so the difference it's made for them hasn't really been of any impact. It might be interesting to see if someone with as many hours in VH would be better than me purely because they use a kbm
Careful about waht you say regarding consoles, i got an official warning last night for implying one was superior to the other
π«
I don't believe it would substantially effect combat. The building tho. And keybinding emotes, which isn't really core play, but I would miss.
Probably better aim, faster crafting, inventory management and building on keyboard and mouse but combat is probably similar
I obviously don't care what other people use but controller users like getting all bent out of shape that i think thats the worse option unless necessary π
I can build like a demon, I think you just get used to whatever you use. In terms of combat though the main advantage I would say the kbm would be in shooting things like Drakes. Where a mouse can be that bit quicker. Then as I say experience counts for so much in VH that it's never really been an issue
That's not really fair tho, Obi. Even tho I'd never use a controller, I think it's terrible they're bugged rn.
i didn't say otherwise in that regard either i wasn't talking bout the issues they're having bugwise, but i am also allowed to have my own opinion bruh π€£
On my current run with two kbm players. One has died masses of times and the other a good dozen times. I think I may have died twice. We're up to Mistlands. Almost into Ashlands. I did a solo run recently where I've died once to a ** Seeker that crept up on me in a mine. Was trying to do a no death
@empty lintel That is interesting to hear. I guess they got the build interface pretty good for controllers. A lot of games don't.
It's pretty good but I agree you can have more accuracy for building in VH with a mouse
Someone who know how to copy shape piece and their rotation will build faster on a controller than someone who doesn't know you can do that on a keyboard
its weird to me that I glance over at the chat and an argument from 6 HOURS AGO somehow was brought back up by the same guy lmao
@vital umbra Oh... looks like I misread what you were saying. Lol.
A lot faster. Started a new run with an Aussie mate the other day. I banged up our large home so quickly he commented on it. He's kbm and has completed Mistlands before so not too inexperienced
Obi-Egg started it earlier too?
Almost 8 now π
Also knowing how to change the snappoint, often to a corner, will make building a lot faster
For sure
I used to have to climb on top of thing to build more than 6 meter high, not anymore with snap points
Itβs not like this is a competitive game anyways, so who cares what people play with? I guess some people have so little going for themselves that they have to make comments to make themselves feel better?
Snap points are a game changer, definitely
Nothing intended to be that bad, Poking fun at controller users i guess is like a declaration of war π€£
The way I build, I rarely use the copy function, and I'm pretty darned quick. Two players cutting wood have trouble keeping up.
How much is Valheim? The Swamp witch is enough to make me buy
Definately love the snap point thing tho.
In reality VH is about 95% experience. My first run in 2001 I was on Google every five minutes...
For me it came to about 0.01$ per hour
I prefer controller generally but combat definitely feels a little better with keyboard and mouse, especially since secondary attacks donβt cancel sprinting with it. (It seems minor but means I canβt do a jump sprint secondary attack properly with controller)
It's very reasonably priced for how many hours you can put into it
i wanna say $20?
15?
I want to say Β£15
its one of the better games out there. definitely worth it. now if they'd optimize it a little more
OOooOOoOooo--mine says 50% off (Steam) ending Nov 3
Itβs 50% off on steam
I think I paid like $20. Definately worth waaaaaay more.
Oh it's on sale
THIS IS NOT A DRILL
valheim worth 50 or 60 easy tbh
EASY
π¬
I've played it before and have ~80 hrs in it already, it's no longer on Xbox Gamepass so I was interested in what the price was
games being priced over $50 was the great tragedy of our time
$9.99 according to my (North America) region
after like 350 days I finally made a wall to my base I can bow creatures night with
Historical low: Β£7.74 -50% at Steam 29/10/2024
Why they make it so cheap tho. These devs hate money.
And they keep updating it too. Best game ever
lol they made over 100 mill
they keep updating minecraft, has its price changed before?..
few times ya
i don't remember, its still under 40$ isn't it
pretty sure it did jump on full release
yea they're still not charging what the shameless money vampires are charging for inferior games
its like $20 these days
Good. They deserve all that and more.
used to be less wayyyy long ago
well yknow some people are making something cool that people like, and some people are trying to make money
wether they get the specific results they wanted or not varies
who knows, maybe if they keep updating it, valheim could be a classic on the level of minecraft in the future
I paid Β£15.49 in April 2021, just after release, which isn't that far off $20
better than satisfactory π
I donβt know if they will after 1.0 tho, but it definitely would
I read they're doing 9 biomes so not too sure about that
i heard good things about satisfactory
great game, they just doubled price on 1.0
Satis was easily 9/10 until the final update.
thats a little bit..
In the round table they said that 1.0 would not be the last update.
Finished satisfactory 2 weeks after 1.0 and never felt the desire to come back to it
Probably the last biome though
Yes.
Ok but what if I only believe in square tables? π
Cool, I've not kept up with the latest information. That was the state of play maybe a year or so ago
well what about modded biomes
Hexagonal table when?
Not even rectangular ones. Damn. Your Ikea section is tiny.
anyone here played any of those mistlands/ashlands mods from before
I didn't see that channel its so facking far down
Well, that's where that topic goes.
Scrolling discord on a controller? π€£
oh no the word mod was said once
i really don't care that much about them to get into it anyways
My modded game does not open
you update the game?
It happened after the last update
Updates break mods. Wait for updated versions of the mods.
probably compatibility issue, remove mods one at a time till you find the issue
Do stuff until bad stuffs not happening no more
Okay well... i think ima go actually play...
NO π NEVER THAT.
Completed it mate
Buy games and do nothing but talk about them.
You're not meant to actually play them you silly goose.
I only play a handful of games out of the hundreds of steam games I own yeah. Valheim being the main one of course...
felt
Balatro is also crack right now
Thats why I dont buy games nomore
just got the new ghost raid for the first time. they are like bats in that they can generate over water. So a spawn proofed island isn't safe
I do try and only buy games I'll only play a decent bit of now but there's a steam sale coming up and... Well you know how it is
The only games I own that I haven't played are ones people bought for me that I wasn't really into.
Every game I have bought for myself I have beaten.
new creature or same from chambers?
That would take me about a decade...
I own a LOT of VR games
i only saw ghosts, but i think wraiths are supposed to spawn also?
Yeah wraiths too
free chains please
Never saw bats though
Well I "don't know how it is" regarding sales.
They don't affect me. I don't go looking for random shit might possibly play so I can waste money π€·ββοΈ
interestingly, none actually came up on the platform that i was on. i only noticed when i dropped down to the ground
Free chains all round Orpha style, you get a free chain etc...
@keen cliff whats your favourite thing
Klondike Bars.
what a super odd question, dude
Yeah it's pretty easy to just buy the top 10 from your wishlist in steam sales...
your favourite thing is "what a supper odd question, dude", that is admirable, my favourite is orange.
Whether you plan to play the games or not
hah, the raid ended and THEN a wraith showed up on my base
Noice
I have never and most likely will never experience this because I've never had more than 2 things on a wishlist.
Ah well I have a fair bit of time for gaming these days and tend to bang anything of interest on there just in case
you bang anything of interest
is the abyssal harpoon helpful into late game? like for when i farm asksvins
wondering if itβs worth crafting
It is worth crafting.
there's not really anything else to do with chitin once you have the knife or are passed the point in progression it's useful for
oh yeah chitin has like no recipes lol
I think you should have stuff, stuff is good, and i like it too.
It's always useful to have an abyssal harpoon around. Even if you just want to relocate boar
i try to build my boars nice pens, but when they get in the way itβs like theyβre asking to be killed by bats
||I had to relocate mine the other day as I needed their house for my chickens||
I have been building....for 30 days....i wanna progress and find the new shit π€¬
yeah thatβs worth evicting them
30β¦ real days?
no way
yes way
First thing i make with chitin is abysal razor... i love that weapon sooooo much i carry it well into the plains π
Yeah I built the boar a house to save from attacks and then built a cool underground coop for the chickens but then realised it needed a roof for the brazier to work on the eggs so swapped the chickens up to the boar house
30 in game
I've not really used it much but have loads of chitin my main server run at the moment so will craft it cheers
Try it out it deals mean damage real quick... just now i was killing ulv in the frostcave with it without getting any damage myself π
Iβve started my save a week ago with a no build cost, free portals, and 1.5 resources and honestly valheim feels like so much less of a slog
managed to get through a chunk of mistlnds in 100 days
im really enjoying not having to grind as much, world modifiers are probably one of the best things to be added
more power to you... i have three chars and worlds going (one for streaming one for youtub and one for my own enjoyment) and non of them has other but normal settings on everything but "portal metals" is the only thing i changed - I never felt it was a slog π but to each his own.
can it be upgraded? if so I might try it next playthrough
to level 4 it can be upgraded
oh thatβs dope
I just closed the game so i can not look up the damage on lvl 4 but hey it kills Ulvs easy π
Same, by far my favorite weapon, I will always go explore as soon as I have a karve until I have at least 50 chitin to make it level 3
yeah fair. i like more laidback playthroughs, and the building is my favourite part of the game so i wanted more of that and less of the gathering
secondary attack backstabbing a troll to 1 shot it was so much fun the first time, with abyssal razor
but then i always have high spear, knife and fist levels π i am mostly the odd one out π I just collected the last bits of fenris hair to h ave the fenris set AND the flesh rippers π
gonna be killing fuling with the fenris buff und 72 slash on the fleshrippers π soooo much fun
staff of the wild is great against bonemaw
i just charmed my way through all the bosses and enemies, too good looking.
Guys, how do you make bread now?
Prep table
Yeah but, itβs not showing up in my cauldron menu like before
I might give that playstyle a go, seems fun. i tried it a while ago but switched to sword and board. this save im giving atgiers a go and theyβre insanely fun
ohhh from the update?
yeh prep table is a new workbench that you craft bread from
I always play blunt these days as most of the bosses dont' deal that well with it. Frostner is the weapon of choice for Ashlands too
Before you get upgraded at least
they basically divided cauldron use up, which is nice. clears the crafting menu
mistwalker great for ashlands too
Hopefully the next boss is blunt resistant, otherwise there wonβt be any blunt resistant bosses
frostner is one of the weapons i carry a long time too... overwhelming foe...forst it with the frostner to slow down... works nicely π
I've not played swords in a while, used to always play them
moder is blunt res no?
No, Iβve used an iron mace for her a few times
I usually make my first sword in the Mistlands when i can do Mistwalker π before that sword lvl 0 π
I use arrows when sheβs in the air and melee when sheβs on the ground
maybe she just has a huge health pool then cause it felt like she was resistant to everything
Did you use a frostner?
i tend to use a spear and shield and bonfires mostly and get my bearings and pick up stuff when she is in the air π
holy hell I am so confused about mistlands discussion because my brain is blanking on what the mistlands even are
I usually just take her out with arrows, clear a lot of the arrow storage too
Nice!
nah, a non-maxed iron mace
And I am realizing I last played this PRE Mistlands. Not pre Ashlands. PREBOTH.
bruh the sun is shining in my eyes irl and in-game...
itβs called immersion
get going then it is so much fun π
You've got a lot of very cool stuff to discover then
im trying to build!!
Abyssal razor does a number on moder, it's a bit tricky to hit her hitbox consistently but since she rarely attack and the razor cost so little stamina it is so efficient
She only has 7500 health
same, itβs wonderful discovering all the qol stuff they added
Be jealous of me π
brehhh
I would love to discover all of this game again a new... but alas i can not unknow what i know...so I have to be content to avoid spoilers and discover the new stuff from Updates π
right now i need to go on a witch hunt ... and i am loving it π
i think trying to neatly hide all cauldron upgrades is harder than any of the bosses in this game
i never hide them i just decorate the kitchen with them they look cool π
i'm trying something different in this new base. every single crafting station/cooking station has all upgrades hidden from view
previously, yes, my kitchen building just had them in the room
the fact that 3 of the cauldron upgrades have to hang from something makes it more challenging
have you considerd digging up the ground to makes space there and then cover over with stonefloor or wooden floor? did that once and it gave a nice clean look but i love it better when the kitchen looks like a kitchen.
it's on a platform already, yes. but i may have to raise it even higher
(this base is entirely on a platform up on the yagluth finger pillars)
it's the combination of hanging + not too close to other upgrades + must be close enough to cauldron
Curious. When are certain feast's unlocked? I didn't notice what was needed to unlock certain feast's at certain times or " creature kill " to unlock said feast. Any information on this?
They are locked behind boss kill or new serpent kill
is feast like a op food thats mixed from normal food and herbs?
Not really op
You make them from other crafted foods mainly
A good way to use up old extra food you've crafted in previous biomes
It's "solid" but it isn't op by any means.
why does staff of the wild not attack spawners...
Like actual straight food is still better than Feasts for stat configurations overall.
Feasts are just slightly below that, but they last almost twice as long so it's a tradeoff.
I still have to discover how to even make the new tools... they have not yet shown up in my crafting stations... so i guess i do need to find some things first π oh this is gonna be so fun... trying to figure it out by myself is so much fun π
and now i need to go and hit the hay tomorrow 5am the alarm is going off... wish you all a good night and do not dream of heaps and heaps of moving flesh π
why is fire so op... I died into 1 singular warlock blast with level 3 flametal gear
some you need to buy from witch. the new cooking things showed up when i picked up wood for the first time
"real" life fuckign with valheim--rude
did you have feather cape on? flametal gear doesn't help against fire, only heat
warlocks are no joke. just below Valks in my hate list
Be grateful they donβt spawn all across ashlands like everything else
Sometimes I feel like when I am closer to the blast like right on top of the big mage aura blast I take more damage and faster. Just my feeling
Did you have a fire potion active? You 100% want a fire potion active for them
i had
Hmm
150+hp
I can take a fair few hits off a warlock with a fire potion on
oh, interesting. the new preperation table is the only cooking station that requires a roof
Yeah I may have had bonemass and more like 200+ hp, not sure if bonemass should make a difference though, it does for the fortress mobs
This was pre-update mind you as I've not been in ashlands since bog witch
wiki shows this for warlock damage: 100 Pierce, 20 Blunt, 70 Fire
assuming that's the fire attack, it will kill you at 150hp
Cool, that does seem like a lot in comparison to how many hits I can usually take off a warlock
That does not assume the armor he has
with that low hp in the ashlands, i'm assuming mage gear. but yes
and i'm also assuming he had less than 150 π
He said lvl 3 flam armor
oh
that's true. so he's wrong about something. could have been a starred warlock, or he had less health than he thought
2 star warlock is scary: 200 Pierce, 40 Blunt, 140 Fire
Fire Resist Meads save lives.
Yeah that is massive dmg
I have only seen 1 of those before
Yeah a starred warlock makes more sense
I've never seen a 2 star warlock
me either. and i'd like to keep it that way lol
Hahaha yeah for sure
i'm just going to keep working on my base until the controller bug is fixed. no warlocks here
Eldritch Blast WHO SAID NO WARLOCKS?
God they need to rework that class for BG3... it's so underpowered compared to the other 2.
if i have to sell my soul...
wild that you can't cancel sleeping
man, i really wish i could copy paste a group of build pieces. i just want to move the whole thing back 5 meters.
I was going to play as Fey Warlock Durge after my successful Honor mode playthrough, but then I got tired. Then came back to Valheim.
Fiend and GOO are just outright better unfortunately. π
Just build the blueprint mk1
I know they are good, but wanted to test Fey too.
i think you can, just have to jump before your character lies down in bed
but you cant wake up in the middle of the night which is whatever ig, i dont think there are any downsides to that?
Yeah just before you lie down
idk why its space specifically but ok
I was saying that in jest not realizing it was such a contentious subject. Thanks for the info.
It's not, that was not the reason...
now that the Bog Witch is out, how does one find her hut?
I assume it's like the other NPC's, where you have to sail around and find it spawn on a previously-undiscovered chunk of swamp biome?
But you know what they say about assuming things...
your assumptions are spot on
"But you know what they say about assuming things..." in this case, that you'd be a very astute logician
does anyone know if you need to find the bog witch before youre able to make the new tools?
@mossy rivet basically you do
oh do I have to buy them?
one yes, the other a component for it
does anybody know if you can farm a tar pit? Or do you have to find a new one when you already took the tar
They always just evaporate for me
Do the enemies respawn?
Not if you mine it out enough. So it runs dryish
the blobs respawn but thats only like 3-4 tar when they respawn, will take a while
I can get it so they don't respawn but I do mine it out pretty far
unless its spawnproofed the blobs do always respawn
I've managed to get them not to on a number of occasions
Thanks
Vanilla, no mods
with spawnproofing I suppose?
Nope
Oh in fact perhaps
I'd need to check for sure, I could well have had a workbench nearby
I've never stopped them from spawning in my 2300h of Valheim, a lot of it in the plains
unless I did it with workbenches and campfires etc
I'm on 1500+ hours of VH but as I say it could have been unintentional spawnproofing so I'd think it was just like that
yeah I always place a workbench while I'm digging the drain, just to avoid any nasty surprises. generally I don't need to farm them or deconstruct the workbenches because tar pits are pretty plentiful
Yeah it'd probably unintentional spawnproofing on my part which I'm generally happy about as Growths are a pain in the butt at the best of times
they hurt especially if you're not in plains armour yet
I generally always dig them out around the current Yag spawner I'm using so likely workbenches around though I have dug them out for tar in the past
boo
saw a youtube video of a guy today that basically setup a 'tar farm' by finding the exact position the growths spawn at, and building little boxes with the bottom open at the perfect height to slash, then chaining like half a dozen or so of those together for a semi-steady stream
tbh, it seems to me for the amount you get, you're better off just clearing new ones, but eventually in a world played long enough, i could see the utility of recycling the cleared sites into something like this
I assume tar is a highly valued commodity for builders. I'm more an A to B completionist so only need enough tar to get by
If I build small I only need like 700-800 Tar, but if I build a real big project,,,,
it's a nice to have but can be ignored--the most utilitarian purpose that comes to mind is in the blackmetal chests
what does "pathen" do?
It removes grass (like level ground) without affecting the terrain height.
What is Serving Tray Wear? (On the cooking level)
I think it reduces the durability cost of the serving tray, so you can place more food before repairing it
Ah i have no clue what the serving tray is, ill discover it later i assume π
Is anybody else going to try a balanced health and stamina diet now that 7 new balanced foods have been added to the game?
what is the icon on the map for the bog witch?
i will probably use feasts for base food
looks like a cauldron. or a handbag π
guys so i think me and my friends explored multiple swamps before the update, and now after the update we cant find a witch merchant symbol, whats the solution? do we just look for new swamp areas or what do we need to do?
the witch only spawns in unloaded swamp areas. you will have to find new places to explore
It wont appear in already generated / explored swamps, need to go to new ones
alright thank u :3
it's also just SOME swamps--like each seed has a set number of possible sites the fulfill the conditions (you probably had an idea of this of course, just trying to clarify the exact mechanic)
so its just like basically, a highly RNG of bumping into her eventually in whatever the first unexplored swamp, with a potential site based upon seed (far enough out from spawn), is
Will i have to restart my world due to this update or will i be able to continue and also be able to experience the new stuff at the same time?
continue, as long you haven't explored all the possible spawn sites
Well lets hope i havent explored them
Does destroying a maypole allow you to craft it?
Trying to get my comfort at max level
You donβt need to worry too much about seasonal pieces, you get more than enough comfort without them.
2 of them constantly on and 1 normal food, variation depending which stat I need ππ»
any words from the devs on when this controller bug will be fixed?
Soon. Nothing more yet but soon.
ty
You'll know when we know.
im a new player, and i somehow wandered into the plains
Did you get squito'd?
i never thought a mosquito could instill that much fear in my heart
They have 10 health so you can probably kill them in one hit if you need to
But itβs best not to return to plains until you have silver equipment
i haven't even killed bonemass π’
wait, really??
10?
Only 10, yes
i havent even killed the queen
but i have like 3 things from the ashlands
My first playthrough I was chased out of a black forest by a pack of grey dwarves and 3 trolls, just after I beat eik and into a tiny stretch of plains where I was deathsquito'd that was definately a what the?? Moment
when i first got into the mountains i got a raid of like 20 wolfs and died immediately
I love how i've experienced all of these deaths at least once π
Still think getting crushed by a tree, when you first get an axe is awesome tho
I love how the game makes you want to challenge yourself and rage quit at the same time lmao π€£
I remember first time seeing the plains from a distance thinking it was desert land somehow
Lol my first valheim death was legit dropping a tree on myself
My first death was from my first tree
I think I made it to about the 5th tree before the game said nope here's a death for you π
i didn't die until the black forest and then i died alot
Nice! Black forest is a real step up your first time
Black forest at night, with a club, in your first playthru, and finding shamans, what a memory
Hello everyone
hi'o
Where I can search for people to play Valheim together?
#1024264966712340510 is a good start.
#1024264966712340510 i believe
Thanks
I came into the game knowing falling trees could kill me, and still had it happen. Log from one tree stuck in treetop. Cut that tree and log fell out of the sky and smushed me. I just started laughing.
anyone have experience updating a dedicated server using the windows store version of the game? all the guides i see are for the steam version
Bro ISTG why do youtubers have to put EVERYTHING thats in a valheim update in their damn thumbnail, i just got spoiled even more and i didn't even watch any of the video.......
Yeah, feel like thatβs just something that happens nowadays- it makes it tough to avoid spoilers. Sorry!
10 things I wish I knew earlier about the ashlands (While still in the PTB)
I wish I was joking but it happened, best to avoid searching youtube or being on discord if you want to avoid spoilers
GameRant: Valheim just added 24 new items! Here's what they added!
and these are like valheimtubers that i liked, for the most part....π
Fucking day ONE....yeah everyones tooootally seen everything in the update..
Maybe its justifiable that alot of people didn't start new worlds for it?, or that they're already a bit of a ways on progression in their current world......
There's a whole science behind thumbnails on videos. Adding all the new items and such in the thumbnail potentially hooks people into the video
but it's also annoying for most who are taking their time with discovering new content
Riiightttt so by some extension you could assume that youtubers that do that, and so quickly after an update, prioritize their own numbers above all else π
Idk man, if i was a content creator it would be a side-hobby and i would out of common courteousy go ahead and not do that to people....
sucks i just tried to do the update for my dedicated server and it looks like my entire world is wiped
we werent even using mods
So ive concluded, that Valheim with Magic is easy mode.
My buddy wants me to buy and play this with him... he gave up on Valheim cause it was "too brutal"
it seems a lot more forgiving
you can summon npcs.
and the building seems a lot more "set" like "here is a roof"
I love Valheim's challenge and building though. I heard Aska has some RTS elements
enemies look cool. Demon bears and knife puppets
Only similarities I see is viking-themed and survival craft.
Not much else
The fact that it's basically a colony management game while valheim isn't proves it further
I've noticed the gaming press love to do this. Every vaguely survival game now is Valheim mixed with X.
IG should feel proud of that
Oh, absolutely, it's a massive compliment. And the fact that it's STILL happening, 3 years on is amazing.
...I've never played palworld, but I'm enchanted by the fact that none of the three comparison titles appear to be colony sims??
i GUESS. I just saw it was "fight gods to please odin" "gather materials to build everything" "fight big monster"
Yeah, it's a weird one for sure.
just looked similar to me. But i also just glanced at the steam page.
at a glance, a lot of things share aesthetic similarities even if they have different meat on their bones
that's fair. just seemed similar to me in base style and general story. More compact for people without as much time to build or skill to get better is kinda my feel
i do see the similarities, to be clear, but I think derek's right that the colony sim stuff will make aska pretty distinct from valheim
i feel like norse lore is also just pretty popular to explore right now, and most things touching on that will share certain aesthetics (like font choices...)
you can activate and deactivate resin candles. do they consume with use?
Why are you putting that same message in so many channels?
just in case
In case of what?
In case of people who use #1024264966712340510 looking in non-lfg channels for... lfg stuff?
someone needs help or sum but are on a dif channel
If people need group help, they go to #1024264966712340510
Also most people aren't sitting here waiting for a random person they don't know in any capacity to join them π€·ββοΈ
what biome do you find the ||witch|| in?
Swamp
cool, thanks
imo not that spoilery as the update is called "The Bog Witch" π
Can appear in an old world as long as the area hasn't been explored yet right?
Correct!
awesome
Anyone know where I get the Barrel Rings? Iβm not seeing it at the witch
Haldor has it
the only new thing added to the poor guy, the other 2 are so much more popular right now (I'm joking no one can beat his popularity due to the belt)
He's rather short for a dwarf tbh.
I appreciate you
yay! another update live!
What is the general appreciation for the skills tree. I think its quite cluttered and its kind of redundant to have each weapon have a separate skill tree. This is just personal as I never really played with every weapon in the game. I was just curious as I was feeling lik eusggesting the weapons should be split into types for their skills. As in the skills are seperated into: blunt, slash, peirce, ect
General appreciation is that the skills are fine as they are.
Same
It makes sense that you wouldnβt know how to use a sword properly if all youβve ever used is a spear
My bad i'm only shy of 200 hours and I haven't interacted with any of the community before
They are also just free stats that the game isn't balanced around.
You can do everything with 0 skill just fine.
Gaining skill is free buffs.
Uhmβ¦
You can, I just donβt like it ππ€
I hate dying in game.
SO MUCH cause it hurts my precious skill tree π€£
That's moreso the "losing skill on death is dumb" counterpoint.
They are free stats, so losing free stats is fine because the game doesn't require them.
Yeah, but it makes life so much easier
Free stuff tends to make life easier π
I suppose Iβm just used to having my skills.
Example, jumping.
Iβve been messing with a new character recently, and while I find it amusing to see that I can barely scramble over a wall that I once would be vaulting over with my main character, itβs making me nervous cause of how used to playing at the at level I am π
Trying to climb a hill to escape a wolfβ¦
Canβt and dies.
Surprised Pikachue face
Inb4 all the OMFG THE CAPE NERF WAS DUMB people show up because you mentioned jumping.
does anyone wanna play?
I hope they change the feather cape to work like the wolf cape. Use a potion early on, get the cape later and not need the potion any more. They could just make the jump effects not stack
Can confirm farm skill adds bonus chance to forage goods as well
I hope they don't change it at all. It needed to be changed and I am more than happy they stuck to their guns with it.
I'll gladly use a mod to change it back
That is the purpose of mods.
Yep, that's why I love them
π€
OMFG THE CAPE NERF WAS DUMB
It was not. But damn I am good at predicting π
The cape was OP.
There was practically no use in using any other cape just for how good that cape was
Enemies wanna fight - jump over them
I have abused that cape so much π
Sorry for being so silly happy about this as a fairly new player but I can't help it π tamed my first Lox (or two at the same time actually), and I just tamed them in the wild, didn't want to go through the hassle of catching them first lol
Can't wait to ride them!
π₯³
THE CUTEST AND FLUFFIEST OF BEASTS!
Well done! π₯°
Lox taming riding is fun!
(Neck Taming when? π¦ )
I was wondering about tar taming? loll
They are called Asksvins π
No. π€
Are there purple Asksvins?
I actually have a plains biome on my main island.
I had to tame and ride my fluffies back home across the entire island π
I love my fluffies.
This why I tamed those Loxes, they are living near my place that is near a tar pit. They protect me from the tar but I haven't been able to pick up the tar yet due to them not tame yet. Now I can π
The lox are the best.
There are blue ones.
2*βs are a nice Color
(Plural is just "lox" btw π )
Nah.
Multiple lox is Loxen π₯°π€
Per the dev who made them, it is not.
Think lox-ox
Ox-oxen π₯°
It's just lox.
Nah. π
Yah.
Nah.
Yah.
π
Yah.
loxoxoxoxees
i love eating lox pies
-_-
Moosen. π
heh
me too tho π
ONGGG
not me trying to ask ppl to play but aint no one responding in the other chat
:<
Gotta get to know people first.
Standard #StrangerDanger rules always apply.
What did you guys decide to name your loxen?
Mine are Thunder and Storm π₯°
Their baby is named Bolt π€
Like, the only way I would ever play multiplayer with Sildar is if they promised to be a frost mage π
π
I can work with that πβοΈπ€
If Deep North has a better frost staff I will convert to mage.
But after trying it on my last run, I just prefer pure viking atm.
Mage is fun, but it is the one playstyle that practically requires high skill levels to do anything
Psa. If anyone wants to use barrels as a storage unit or decoration, haldor sells the rings
ARE YOU SAYING I AM UNSKILLED? π
Hence why I hate dying as one π
Nearly lvl 100 elemental and blood magic π₯°
Maaaaaybe π
Secret to why I prefer using fireball over ice magic?
cause I spend untold hours grinding my skillz using ice magic on a stone golem π
π€£
Fireball too π₯±
So that's probably why I have to wait for Deep North options to see if I will magic.
Did you see my message about the staff of fracturing?
Yes. And if all bolts hit any target you hit, the message about it "taking patience and skill" to use effectively makes absolutely no sense.
No it does not. π
It just requires good aim π
Magic staff that shoots Lox at your enemies when?
Forget Trollstav, I want Loxstav.
It's just lox π
π₯
It always feel kinda fun to advance by 100 days π₯³
hi SildarFlame, Hi Sevrahn, HvΓtill-Spakr.
Is mysterious location boss or something else? #screenshots
Go there and find out.
π
How is that funny?
Died 20x already, and we've barely stepped foot in yet
Hello ππ
Welcome to the Ashlands π₯°
Yeah my kids ran in and instantly turned round with 50 things on them and said here yu go dad!
hello, new to the server but i just got to the Ashlands! the new content is so nervewracking but it keeps drawing me in for more
Goal was to find the bog witch first day, completed! π
anyone want to play together? 21+ kinda new
