Yeah I think the server setting isn't working or something
It's in gportal control panel settings
Then it must not be enabled.
No cost removes the cost of literally all tools that can place something in the world.
Even cultivator
The setting is most definitely enabled, but it's not working. Something is broken on their end. Probably didn't pass the command, or update a file, or however it works on dedsrv
It's a toggle switch on the server dashboard
hammer still borks
Something to report to them then, you can test the raise ground in a solo player with no cost on to check that it does work
It's nighttime, so right now I'm staying put in this hill while waiting for this one star ask to finish taming
imagine if they added wolf sleds some day
Wooo, an empty terrain field in the ashlands!
This must be my lucky break!
I should get rid of all the spawners I see here, thank goodness for lava slimes
Oh wait, flametal ore isn't glowing orange anymore, it's those columnar jointing rock-looking things
Man, if I knew this sooner, I wouldn't have been stuck with how to progress for several in-game days
And thank fuck for the Queen's power
...wow, stone portals are much bigger than I thought :O
Good thing this base barely had enough interior room for it, it was getting dark
compared to the other biomes how long is ashlands
+30 hours
Hello everyone, i've been experiencing a disturbing issue, i've been trying to play the game with friends lately but it keeps disconnecting me from the server, so far i tried : Running the game as administrator, disabled my firewall for a bit, checked my file integrity.
I'd appreciate any help
instable connection. Is it wired or wireless? Laptop? Router?
router and wireless (wifi), i use a laptop yes
ah, the most troublesome combo
maybe update drivers of mobo & wifi, otherwise get wired.
if you have intel wifi, def update; some versions were bugged with d/c
i'll try this out for now, thanks a lot !
also try a diff server see if it repeats, with new toon
Do they provide a larger door or gate that lox can fit through?
Or will they fit through 2 gates?
Does anyone wanna play multiplayer? I just beat the game and still wanna play it
Assault the fortress with catapult and ram ? No , assault it with the Hoe .
Hoe your way up to victory .
...well shit, my base got attacked. I died, and I lost my portal to the ashlands
I seriously hope my ship won't be next
Holy fuck, this biome feels like I'm in Caelid
Fortunately my ship's intact
sounds about right.
Almost finished my 2nd stack of Celestial Feathers and still not Valkyrie trophy π
is the trophy just for bragging rights or does it have a crafting use?
I just want it for my trophy wall but I feel like it would have no other use if the drop rate is this low? Could be wrong though o:
Is there a tool online that can tell me what is the height of the mountains in my seed? Trying to setup a viking airlines. Many are not as high as I would like
Trophy can be uses on automated balista to order it to target specific enemy instead all including you
you can go valheim-map.world and go to mountain biomes and look there but there isnβt anything to check the height
there is a mod
is there a rationale behind why they only allow you to assign one trophy to a ballista or is it just something that would be difficult to implement?
Prob just to stop them from being too good
yea the devs prob think it would be too OP if you could use multiple trophies, but then if you don't feed it any trophy, it shoots anything (including you), making it already OP
Pretty much yea
it doesn't seem like it does too muchh damage, and they're fairly expensive to build and arm
I also recommend a bit of fenris armor to outrun his attacks
what forsaken power is best to use throughout asslands? bonemass still?
Fairly expensive to build but they last forever. Cheap to arm. Great damage if you have a few of them. Best used against large/slow targets. If you parry an enemy in front of ballistas they will shred it.
Bonemass is the fan favorite for making the game easy mode. Eikthyr and Queen are pretty good too though
Is Yagluth vuln to silver/spirit
they are weak to spirit
No, but he does take damage from it. Silver weapons are pretty effective against him. Silver sword and frostner can do even better than blackmetal weapons
i got 100-0'd in full armor by a 2star elite in ashlands, it honestly was exactly like facechecking a bush with a 1000 stacked nasus sitting inside it
what are the best crops to grow once you hit plains?
woah...
If I may ask, without spoilers, is it ever revealed what the giant glowing branches in the sky are? Or just assumed to be the branched of Yggdrasill, the World Tree?
you can see its roots and theyre called yggrasil shoots orsomething
ah sweet. Loving all the little lore easter eggs in the game so far
Pretty much stated that's the case. As much a spoiler as saying you're a viking.
barley, and lots of it
totally, thank you! Looking forward to all the other little mythology references in the game, really enjoying it for the 50 hours I've played so far. Soon to be 500+ I'm sure
Do the Ashlands have naturally high spawn rates in general or is it the spawners causing such high spawn rates?
any other veggies or just that
Spawn rates are the same in all biomes.
Interesting
So it must be the spawners, then, because the spawn rates here feel rather high
onions for cheap stamina food
Not so much the range but the open field and sight lines
can i use onions to feed boars as well?
Ahh, dammit
And a very high line of sight
I gotta learn how to handle hordes, because so far the only thing that can be done is to avoid attracting them in the first place. Maybe killing everything I see in the way so that those same enemies I didn't kill don't end up forming a horde
Do u guy get laggy when you go to ashland
like enemies just moonwalk teleport and sometime our character just froze like 3 or 4 secs
For me sometime the laggy just kill me when I try to parkour
Finally went into mistlands. Yikes. Can't see anything. NOt sure I like that.
wait until u went to ashland last night I die over there like 9 times
Does the fog not go away in the plains anymore? There's a foggy spot in the plains that's been there for about 6 game days now.
only 9 times? that's rookie numbers
yikes
80% of my deaths were in the Mistlands while only being 10% of my play time
do u mostly die to random stuff or got kill by enemies
for me I just die to lava like 5 times
what about plain the mosquito
I always have my shield out. Even when I eat, sleep, go the bathroom...
god damn u prepare better than me
on a corspe run in the plains, I at least carry a wooden shield
I remember my experience in plain just me dying to mosquito like all the times
my first time in the Ashlands was during PTB, mainly die to water, it was instant death! But now touching water doesn't instantly kill you anymore, what a shame
ahh the water my old nightmare
one weird reason I like to make my character black like really black and I play with my other 3 friends but the weirdest is for some reason the enemies like to target me the most I don't why but man. I play as mage and they just run through my friends and come to me
profiling
bro I rage like hell like game why me I'm at the back of the line I'm mage I got 4 skelets in front of me why not target them
and I am leagues of legend player but man this rage is more than leagues
cause you're the main character, your friends only side characters
haha maybe man If I record the moder fight yall will be saying why target him cuz 2 of my friends were fighting moder and me and my other friend try to kill golem and all of sudden the moder fly over 1 of my friend who is closer to moder than me and just spray me to the ground
ah man, loose golem in moder fight is such a pain
yep ahh the pain the memory
holes were dug, lessons were learned
yes sir
i meant for my group lol, we always prep the area at least a bit nowdays
mine too but I think I might be the problem
last night I parkour right into lava
oh btw is the deep north might be the last update of game ?
will be the last full biome with a boss etc
we won't know for sure until the 1.0 sticker hits, but it's the last major development and biome
add a bit more gitgudness to yr diet
i will
drink less skillissue
There should be Butcher skill that gives more meat yield
ahh i will guy i will
hmmm the pain of skillissue
yep, don't think I like mistlands. being blind isn't fun.
and you need the endurance of a crossfit competitor
Lingering stamina mead helps a lot
in a group aren't ppl rotating boss buffs around as well?
if i have a structure thats like 5 stone pillars tall, can i double that size if i stack wood on top of that?
wood will go up another 20m on top of stone/marble/grausten
does it matter if i use iron wood beams on the corners?
if they touch the ground and form a chain of support it should help, but even that will max out
does someone know if the blocking skill EXP scale with damage or quantity of hits?
the latter
what if they can only touch the stone/marble/gausten? im trying to make a unnecessarily tall chimney
then you get standard support wood gets like it's on the ground
...well goddamn, seems like I have to build platforms over the lava rather than right on top of it
iron beams themselves only stack up to 25 high (50m) and then you can get another 20m out of regular wood so the max you can build from ground level without raising it at all or using other methods is 70m
if you raise ground and use a pine tree combined with all that you can reach 100m in height from water table level
what if you do it on the very top of the highest mountain
kinda nice near the top when all the pieces start to get snow dusted
nvm can't plant there, 78m max
the highest I've gotten is around 88m
i have a shot somewhere of a 100m tower i built myself, unfortunately it got scrubbed in a data loss and the shot is hard to retrieve
I had to use fir because it was in the mounatins
others have done so as well tho, i'm p.sure @restive gull has one (apologies if the ping is bad timed)
I put a pic in #screenshots
You can plant firs on the mountain, height has some RNG because trees have a random scaling factor applied to them. Then I was told there is some wonkiness where you can cut the tree down but still get its grounding effect?
yes once a tree has grown the snap points at the top stay forever
There are mountains taller than the cloud layer present on some maps. So if you built on top of one, at the top of your tower, it would look like you were looking down on a snow plane.
pines grow the tallest of all, though there's some variation in height with those as well iirc
Yeah, my mountain is well above the clouds
and they don't grow everywhere, sadly
Wow, spears are surprisingly effective against asks
One less mob to worry about
do you know the max they can reach?
Is there a way to spawn trees with the console to get the scaling factor you want? Probably not. Without mods you need to do trial and error to get a big one. If someone could look at the code to see the randomness of the scaling factor, that would be our answer.
My guess is that it picks a model, then a random number to do 80-120% scaling or something like that
well with building limits at 78m, and clarke getting to 88m it would seem 10m is around what yr gonna get out of them
it's probably in the range of 8-12 but i'm not gonna spend hours testing it
Agreed
one day mountain pine, one day..
fr tho i'd rather have onions as plantable in the mountains, liven up those drab surroundings a bit
deep north could be sending us back there with new building materials
Hmmm, I feel like my tamed one star asks will get mollywhopped by the other Ashlands mobs, so I'll probably need to somehow keep them safe
πͺ πΌ
I've built height limit twice
once with cost (never again)
once with no cost (veri fun)
If the Ashlands, the second-to-last biome, keeps kicking my ass this hard, I have to wonder much of a rage quit point the Deep North will end up being
if i put 4 logs together tightly will it count as a roof?
No, only roof pieces and stone flooring count as roofs
do decorative walls let smoke out?
i don't believe so, but I've not tested it myself
if you're thinking cages and the likes, iirc no
like ashwood decorative wall
who knows how many more there'll be
highly unlikely .. smoke needs at least a 1 metre gap to get out
also i kinda hope the next biome is like, plains difficulty, maybe a little higher
introducing new magic stuff hopefully, magic feels pretty lacking rn
magic is OP as hell in Ashlands
i do not mean in balancing
Also i very much doubt that DN will be LESS difficult than Ashlands.
theres just not much to it, 2 armor sets designed around it, both at the end of the game, and its just innaccesible until you get to mistlands
has it been confirmed that deep north is the next biome though
because yeah itd probably be harder but i dont think they've stated whats coming next
Unless you're hoping for an ocean update DN is pretty much the only one left
Uggghhh, why do I keep fake-falling when I'm on a flammetal pillar?
known bug sadly :(
they could, but iirc they've already said they don't plan on adding more. Don't quote me on that though, i may be misremembering
even then i feel like they can still improve upon old biomes
they have stated that Deep North will be the next biome, then possibly a smaller ocean update after that
if magic could be obtained anywhere other than mistlands id for sure say plains bc of the shamans and such
where
Aww man, I'm only able to mine one stack of flammetal ore ._.
I don't even know how I'm supposed to handle the other ones
Imma have to decide REAAAAALLY carefully how I'll be using my flametal. I think I'll focus on the battering ram
Smiffe mentioned it somewhere here within the last 2 or 3 days
ur right
deep north then ocean then the games in 1.0 state i guess
You'll be disappointed. It's clunky and rather useless.
You don't even need a battering ram for fortresses, you can just use the hoe to raise a terrain pillar and hop over the walls (after bombarding the inside with ranged weapons/magic).
fun for mining anywhere BUT the Ashlands though.
methink itd be cool if there were underwater places to go, like that one dungeon from destiny 2, and you needed an item to let u breath long enough to get down there
but its so awesome i can just ram into shit and watch it explode
You're not wrong
Probably better to spend your first flametal on cauldron and black forge upgrades though (and maybe a weapon or two, magic staves don't need a lot of metal to craft).
r the flametal weapons any good ive only tried the slayer
in my lowly humble opinion, the slayer is the most dog shit of the weapons
ok i kid but the rest of the flametals definitely outperforms the slayer
the two handed weapons all suck is something i agree with but its special attack is reallllyyy good
the normal attacks are super slow so having one attack that does 3 hits worth of damage + has insane range and stagger potential is very nice
as a weapon outside of that one cool thing thouhg it stinks yeah
but like i got the electric thing for it and i think thats cool as fuck so i cant swap
(Blood) Ripper is definitely worth it, as are the lightning axes
eyeing up the lightning axes for my friends world
the lightning axes fucks, by a country mile
we're barely even at mountains after 40 hours π
faster attacks => more lightning procs
The mace is nice too, i'd skip the Nidhogg variants though unless you're going for full completion (they're not really better than Mistwalker).
No need to rush at all. Just enjoy the experience. I was at about 60 hour mark and still in plains despite of being a veteran player... just got stuck building a fancy base in plains for a few weeks.
Endgame I wanna rock the flame sword, lightning axes and frostner
Seems to hit alot of mobs for good damage
a huge chunk of my playtime is in my cheat world designing houses
I've designed only the basement of my house in a cheat world and never anything else. I just need to know what kind of shape it's going to be before I can start building anything else
I design as I build, I have no idea what I'm building until I'm half way done
I have issues with build size lol, if I do that my builds would be half way done and I wouldn't be able to build any taller
pretty much this. I usually only start with a general idea and go from there. If it doesn't work out i can always tear it down.
always have to test if I can build as tall and as big as I wanna
I usually just findd a creative solution to the problem and change things a little bit, has worked out so far
biggest problem I faced with my tavern was that the "attic" central beams did not allign with support beams on floors below, took a while to figure out how to make that work and not leave any ugly looking angled support beams on full display
Oooh, thank you very much
So much for FORTRESS TIME
Now I just need to craft another hoe because I always keep throwing mine away to make room for anything else
this may be my problem
why ppl can imagine a building inside their mind and make it looks so good. I can't do that all I can build is a small house that resemble the dirt house in minecraft
all you can really do is try doing something differently. Doing the same thing over and over again will not get different results. Even if it doesn't end up looking good can always just try again and again.
I usually just go for very simple shape for the building, once I have a part of it done I start thinking about how can I change it to make it look better
framing out your build first definitely helps a lot, lets you visualize what your build will look like shape-wise, and provides structural support for you to build off of later
I often use the terrain as inspiration, I am building a mountain fortress that has a certain shape and also has 3 different heights on the building area due to how max raise limit works, so I will work with that, before I prepared the area I did not know how it would turn out, all I know now is that i need a lot of stone and iron and what sort of parts the fortress will have in terms of functionality and that I want a bailey with some fir trees
Never thought of that thank
also mixing different building materials is kind of an easy way to make it look different (and hopefully better). Mixing stone and wood is one one option, or maybe multiple types of wood, such as those corewood poles and regular wood
Ahh I get it now
I might try go simple and then when it turn out mehh I might add some other wood and stone
Thank you guy for the help
Good luck!
I also like to lay it out including heights, first the footprint, then the height to some extent and put some roofs before I add all the inside walls and floors and room dividing features. then decorate at the end
guys...deep north when?
When it Is done π
It's already there, very peaceful, a special type of floating ice you can break but not harvest and a unique type of fish you can catch π
I remember when the Ashlands were peaceful
Good times
That reminds be i should go check my old surtling farm xD tho there is not much left of it most likely
ok so how is this server now? for like 6 months ago someone hacked this server and it was like over 90 message here and it as so strang ei could not leave
The server Is doing fine π it was back up few hours after the "hacking"
you know what i mean right? and what you mean with backup
what you mean witn backup
I think imma wait until the Lavaiathan bug gets fixed before I attempt to mine any more flametal ore
That the hackers were gone and normal people could again chat normaly
ok
Not sure, i dont really use Tower shields π
i started a new world and i dont remember xD
tried it and he dealth me 50 dmg but i had fruits not meat
I know you can parry it with bronze buckler but thats about it xD
What's that
wooden round shield maybe? xD
That i really don't think so XD
i deleted my 700 days world cus i was playing on easy mode + mods and now im playing on normal world without any mods and easy options
Yes you can, depending on your max health (food, this has a huge impact on block/parry ability), shield level and block skill
The sinking pillars of flametal in ashlands
i have deer, boar meat and honey
That either by reloging or going through portal you will unload the area and the pillar will stop sinking
Ah well i play on a dedicated
So I guess it's nice to know I thought it might be something game breaking
I haven't tried with that, but from my experience with shield and parry then your odds doesn't look good, but I lack experiences with tower shields as I prefere to parry
Or Its the other bug where you float/slide on it.
Isn't block with a shield based on max health
Nvm
I seen you response also thanks for the info @merry pebble
Max health, block skill, shield level and overall armor rating
Fx I wouldn't be suprised if you could parry a troll with a level 1 wooden shield if you where eating top mistlands or ashlands health food and no armor
this troll is angry af, hes inside a cave and cant even parry his attacks
and he has a log
Tower shields (includes bone shield) can't parry
Then let him be until you get better health food, you get bronze gear or practice dodging/rolling while fighting them π
is there a proper bug report forum or so ?
died
Is part of the game while practicing getting better ^^
He is an ai, your a human with a brain, use that advantage against it π
got my stuff back
parried log upper attack with wooden shield xD
why cant he leave his cave? π¦
@wraith sun
killed him π
That's the bug I meant!
That bug means I can't jump up and mine the higher nodes, nor jump off until I touch lava
I wouldn't count on there being a solution to that bug any time soon.
It's not in the current PTB, at least.
first half of 21st century
I need 2 fish and idk how I feel about going to the north kinda like my world
I would be careful and not going north now...
I would also be careful and not going north now...
Try the corners of the deep north
Definitely keep that in mind
just visit it now, Deep North release is likely 2 years off and you'll likely want to start fresh by then

two years??
Two years later, valheim?, what's that?

Was it two years between mistlands and ashlands?
Year and half I believe

I noticed in lfg same people often jump servers. U see same people week after week looking for server to play in. What's up with that ?
But what is the point lose your progression and keep starting over in new server ?
I see a lot of conversations about Staff of fracturing on Reddit, and here when I searched the same takes appear. People say it's bad or useless. I played with it a bit, and I made some math. (The patience and true power parts of the description lead me to that) I genuinely think this gun is a spinesnap 2.0. It is decent in current biome, but will be unquestionably best choice for next biome.
Even in ashlands it is not a bad choice. Unlike embers it's a single target weapon but it deals a bit more damage in a direct hit and is cheaper to cast. Perfectly usable in ashlands but nothing spectacular.
However I want to guide your attention to the insane fire damage this staff can output. Lvl 3 fracturing staff: 288 fire damage (direct hit), Lvl4 embers staff: 138. If Deep north will have enemies not resistant to fire, SoF will do 67% more damage on a direct hit than embers (assuming no blunt resist either). If we will face enemies weak to fire, this goes to whopping 76%. And we are still talking about lvl3 staff of fracturing. lvl4 gives addiitional 72 fire damage totaling 360 fire damage on a single direct hit. This is humungous compared to 138 of staff of embers.
I now definitely understand why this staff wasn't buffed after PTB. It is deceptively strong, it can kill seeker soldiers in seconds, it's just not great against fire resisting enemies.
They're only interested in the exciting beginnings but when the game progresses to later stages they bail and switch to new servers and continues until they get bored and delete the game then move on to ruin other games
I mean I definitely loved the early game it wasn't so prep intense but late game can be fun too if you stay prepping and collecting
Just made it to ashlands tonight
I see your take and I agree and 1 more thing about the staff it can output the knockback more then the staff of ember even tho it have the same knockback dmg
It does help me when I got surrounded
Indeed. It's not half bad. I think a lot of complains come from the fact that players generally expect cluster bomb weapons to be a "shoot into ground under group of enemies" weapons. Not single target direct hit ones.
Thats what I expected too tbh
Also this game could really use notation that borderlands uses for shotguns. If you have 12 pellets doing 30 damage, it should display 12x30 fire, not just 30 fire. It looks worse than it in reality is on weapon card.
I see why ppl like the aoe dmg with single shot cuz it nice but with the projectiles that come out when the fire explode it kinda go everywhere. And ppl really like high dmg weapon and with staff of ember is have a big hitbox so that why ppl like it
for me I just use both stuff to help me get out when I got surrounded. if u fight 2 or 3 enemies why not use Staff of Frost or Dundr.
Embers is kinda 3x simpler to use and has negligibly worse single target performance in ashlands. No doubt why its so loved compared to the fracturing. I expect the sentiment to flip once we fight stronger single targets that arent resistant to fire,
i will say the ember really help me fight with the flee better than the fracturing that all I will say
Dundr is pretty amazing but i cant help but wish it had tighter spread. Even for game shotgun standards it is WILD how inaccurate this thing is.
I usually fire it point blank.
and if fight the big boy or numerous enemies use the Staff of the Wild it really useful in that time
same
it is a shotgun combine with a magic. If it have a tighter spread it lose out the magic side.
I suppose so, but I feel its too much. It's so much that its a de-facto melee weapon. Maybe it was the intent but it still feels off to me.
it ok ppl have different point of view
I'm kinda Autistic and I have a wild imagination so that why it ok for me
but this imagination can't help me build a beautiful house
You can't just make something great on imagination/talent alone
it takes a lot of practice to get good. Building in games is no exception
yeah I often jump from 1 thing to other thing too fast
With every building you make and every building tutorial you will eventually get good
Hahahah relatable
building house not my stuff but in minecraft red stone auto farm I ok to build it
other in this server did gave me this advise and I really learn a lot cuz first I need to go simple not too big and then if u think it can change or upgrade just put other materials on to see if it look good on it or not
Sounds very reasonable
So far the Ashlands is hm.. Kinda bullshit with the amount of enemies
Every 10 seconds you get more enemies, its hard to ever make much progress
I think the respawn rates should be halved
It's meant to be an exploring game not a fight an enemy every 5 seconds game
I think they lost what was fun about Valheim with this biome.
It would be fine if like you get a swarm every so often but its all the time
Apparently Ashlands have the same spawn rate as every other biome. It's just wide and open so everything draws aggro instantly.
I haven't been to ashlands yet, but if I'd want to build, say, a base, spawn workbenches to get some peace?
Yes but again, the whole place is wide open when you are exploring so you will be assailed by mobs constantly.
@lyric olive spawnproof with campfires, and keep in mind you don't have to fight everything
I've seen those posts on reddit about how they spent all day fighting and cleared barely any land - huh?
Just run! (with portal mats)
Tried to run. It doesn't really work because the fast dogs can chase you indefinitely and the flying ghost thing
There's too many enemies that can chase you forever, yes the warriors cant but they're about the only thing that cant
nothing chases you forever, I know because I just run
I died because I got sandwiched between a ghost thing while running from a dog, if you get caught with no stam between them you're 99% just dead
With fenris armor Askvin cape and decent run skill you can easily run from most stuff
Then you have no armour and cant fight anything
valkyries are a problem, yeah, but those are rare, and you can run...elsewhere
less common than morgens, in my experience
Donβt need to fight while you run. And can change armor set to fight if you need, or just run mage which doesnβt need armor
I'm the malee guy with a sword, my friend is a mage
you can also run and place campfires, to block spawns the next time you're around
Mhm, Iβm both π
damn can we swap worlds, morgens I can count on my fingers rn and I have a boatload of feathers
also - coasts are much safer, because the enemies are only on one side
That sounds cheap though
Then again I do glitch into the fortresses every time so
I kill all the enemies in it because its easier then doing it outside
I dislike the sentiment that spawnproofing is cheating - the developers do everything to make the biome difficult, and to me it just feels like working with the game mechanics provided
I think the most reliable stat in ashlands is to just take it slow and kill shit in sight. Very rarely I get overwhelmed if I do this. Marking putrid holes on map is also very good, they are free zones in case you do need to run.
Ashlands shouldn't even have spawn points to be destroyed, the natural respawn rate is ridiculously high anyway
Its not a pvp game, everything depends on what you/your group or server deems to be cheat/cheese.
i think it's worth it to point out that spawn points activate up to 60 meters away from you, and enemies detect you from 30 meters away
that's a gigantic radius, a lot of the spawns you're seeing is likely spawners
Nah I don't want to cheese that, I need the challenge because if there's one thing the ashlands got right its the difficulty. It is hard, and I think this game needed a hard biome
Plains was way too easy, you rarely get more than like 3 enemies at once, the mistland is the same, ashlands is the opposite
Literally the reason is to not fight them with that gear combo...
I get pretty frustrated even in a group and with spawnproofing π
"you can easily run from most stuff"
Yeah me and my friend just ignore the enemies until we get a dog, then we have to kill that
My friend has a low run stat so he cant outrun most things
Fenris and asksvin cape give you speed
a very strong combo is 1 being a mage who spams the bubble, the rest of us fighting
keeping bonemass for particularly strong encounters like a valkyrie or in case the mage is not a mage
I'm trying to encourage my friend to try the troll summoning, i think it looks cool
And mages are useless anyway so he might as well summon something
XD based
nah, the bubble is very strong, it essentially replaces bonemass power
Most broken and op playstyle
Mages are useless
Lol
I'll ask my friend if he wants to try it, I told him to stop using electric now because that really is useless. But the fire is also quite useless
To be fair until you unlock staff of the wild, mage is a bit rough in ashlands. Unlike in mistlands when they have more damage for free since resistances.
Id definitely take a 2nd skilled melee user over a shield spambot.
You are just literally calling every single thing useless at this point...
He wants to try the wild
My sword definitely isn't
Atgeir is the worst weapon as well, mistwalker sucks.
Do you imagine using frostner in mistlands? Most worthless weapon ever
Ember staff? Cringe
There is not any fire bow, only blood one if you mean the red one π
One it shoots fire bombs out of it
I don't know the name of it, I haven't really looked at the staffs yet because i don't play mage
Ember staff is what has saved me in ashlands while playing solo.
It's ranged aoe
And it's one biome earlier
Oh you mean fire staff, i thought you were still talking about bows since it was right after you called the Thunder bow useless π
Which one is the thunder bow?
Everything is useless when you don't know how to use them apparently....
This guy still doesn't get that its not me using it.
Then the other person doesn't know how to use the items...
It literally doesn't change what I said
I think he's fine, just going to encourage him to change staffs and try some new play styles so I don't feel like I'm the only one doing anything when we get swarmed
I constantly have to run over to him because he cant fight anything alone
The best cure for swarms is fallen valkyries π these babes kill literally everything for you and when they are finished you can bully them with a spear for a goodnight.
I really love the enemy friendly fire mechanic introduced in ashlands. So goofy but also makes the biome much easier than it would otherwise have been.
In plains if you piss goblin village you need to do everything yourself or run. In ashlands problems solve themselves hahahah
Trollstav allows you to make enemies aggro on the trolls while you kill them.
Staff of wild let's you spam the vines that deal continuous damage per hit and also paralyze enemies, which on its own is great
Fracturing staff is underwhelming in ashlands, but at least it destroys everything from earlier biomes. It still does decent single target damage.
Dundr can destroy morgen and single targets if used correctly, it's a lightning shotgun.
Trollstav is one I really want him to try but he said its too expensive to use.
Ohh the trollstav the 2 edge sword.
Let me tell u a story of a boy that got beat down in Ashland.
The boy use the staff to summon the troll to fight Morgen but he stupidity run to close to the fighting area. And what happened next is he got beat down by Morgen and troll because they said let team up and kill that boy.
The end
how did i make use of tin etc for bronze stuff ? i melted it but no recipes unlocked
Did u get copper?
Cause to make bronze u need copper and tin
i do has copper and tin
You need to smelt both copper and tin and then you make bronze from them in forge
Bar or ore
Cuz like he said u need to smelt them
Not a good idea to approach the beast of death and destruction
Like the story said stupidity run into
Like fighting a troll in BF with undead nearby, you let it do its thing while taking advantage of the situation
Ik ik now I just have ran away from it
It's simply this:
Tin (ore) -> Smelter -> Tin Ingot (or bar) -> Cauldron
Copper (ore) -> Smelter -> Copper Ingot (bar) -> Forge
Forge + Tin ingot = Butcherknife
Forge + Copper Ingot = Copper knife
Forge + Tin ingot + Copper ingot = Bronze Ingot.
Forge + Bronze ingot = Lot of recipes.
Bruh I forgot it call ingot too
i have smelted them i said that >_<
thats why im wondering, did i miss something
You craft bronze in the forge
To unlock the recipe you build a forge, and get copper and tin bars
Wait did u try to craft it in work branch
Yeah, that's what I said too in here: #valheim-chat message
He just want to help
Doesn't seem like they read that post or understood it
Does editing resources yield mid-run ruin the game file or something like that ?
I think he didn't build forge for some reason
Without bronze it's also easy to spot the bronze recipe because there aren't many recipes at that point in the forge
It ruin your experience of the normal gameplay
It won't break anything if that's what you're asking
yea that's what i mean, thanks!
Anyway @buoyant ether answer me did u build forge
At wich difficulty?
Because at normal setting it's absolutely fine to be there.
We all complain about it don't worry but that just how Ashland is
It's about mistlands
That's not about ashlands, but about Mistlands
Which is weird because that one doesn't even have high spawn rates
Wait that mistland
Is there a way to mute deer sound? If not from ingame then from game files ?
I thought he/she write mystalands mean Ashland my bad
Considering how often those two biomes are spelled wrong, it's an understandable mistake. π
I see ok I note that one down
Idk but does the deer sound annoyed u
yea the deer keeps making that sounds every 5 seconds basically wherever i am π
Hunt them
I see
But it help u spot them
resources are welcome everytime
I have abundance of them and yea i keep shooting them but there's always another around the corner it's like a vengeful spirit at this point
xdddd
Oh there is a mod to remove deer sound
the fact i was so close to loose even silver equipment
and at that point I would have to aks for outer help
mist?
but yea, kill you is the Focus for ALL aggresive mobs, some can do It better than others
But that weird for mist to have high spawn rate
My experience in mist it just 3 or 4 enemies come to annoy and kill me or big boy shoot at me while farming.
i noticed one but it was from 2021 and abandoned and it's not even around my base but while i mine ore etc π
If i would be to add a mod to have QoL on farming/planting carrots then would that be also okay mid-run or would i need to do a fresh start?
I can't say much cause it base on you like how u feel about it
But ig it ok it just a farm
Best base defense strategy for Ashlands event?
Wall
Ideally with removing the mobs
It an event hmmm fight it
Use what u have ig
1 question is your house is made of wood or stone cuz defending wood house with Ashland event not really going well
Stone. It's not like we can't beat the mobs, but wondering if something like ballista is more practical for defense.. or even a moat, etc
The ballista really helpful in that situation but we really don't know where the enemy at
how can i make portals ?
im about to log in
cube found in skeleton dungeon the grey dwarf eye and fine wood
Bug from Ashland update
i still dont have a forge available, and i have smelted tin and copper
@buoyant ether
He explains better than me
And pls tell me did u try to craft bronze at workbench
Is it normal taht every other day is raining all day ?
Ya that's not a strange occurence
So asksvin riding.... is it pointless?
is there any way to find the large frozen lake
Yes u can ride and it can walk on lava
does it matter if i build the forge close to workstation ?
I cant control the asksvin though even with saddle. Is this influenced by riding skill?
Build where u like it
It just goes wild when frightened and its frightened 100% due to mob density. So im a bit perplexed.
Oh yeah that how tame animals behave when it frighten
They are pretty trash tbh
Sad.. spent a lot of hours getting an asksvin farm in my ashlands established base in hopes i could cross lava safely
U ride on lava and then the lava shoot fire at u and the grave is in the middle of lava pool
Use troll staff to clear the pool lava u want to ride at
They are nice to have in other bioms for the hell of it but are too weak for ashlands
lots of searching or "cheating" using valheim map. It is called" world viewer" in the pinned mesasges: #valheim-chat message
Parkour
Still like to have a Under verse in Valheim with spider's nasty looking caterpillars centipedes
The queen almost resemble it
naa the queen looks like a Xenomorph
The mouth really look like caterpillar mouth
And i like the bone trolls lol
Ahh the memory the time I throw it in fortress
so fine wood is in black forest ?
I was playing on a 24/7 server but now I'm playing on my privet solo i still like Valheim vary much the most funest thing is building with the mods
no fine wood is in the meadows some in dark woods a lot in planes
even ork trees will give you fine wood
oak trees
This is what i want Jagex to do buy iron gate's and build RuneScape 4 but with Valheim mechanics. lol π
W makes it move toward the direction your camera is facing, s makes it stop and act as if you werent riding it.
Pretty much all there is to lox and askdvin riding
shame
i thought it would be a fun little treasure spot
A mace is.
You will need it to defeat the 3rd boss and because of the blunt damage it's a very good weapon to fight skeletons.
im having a blast with the abyssal razor, for bonemass you do want a blunt weapon tho, true
troll fucked me π
I backstab 1-shot trolls :3
where do i find fine wood guys q_q
birch trees in meadows
birch trees
oh
and oaks, but those are relatively rare
or shipwrecks and benches/chairs near destroyed stone buildings.
Abyssal razor is an absolute monster all the way through the plains even, so good for how early you can get it
"oh hey, 20 free troll leather"
had a invasion, now my troll cape is level 4 too lol
parry once, then hit troll 5 times with abyssal razor, 4 hits are crits from parry, 5th hit staggers them again
and then they die in 1-2 more
killing trolls in >15 seconds is satisfying af
can a iron 3 buckler parry fulings?
Most likely, but that's just me guessing
there is no wiki page to parrying
I assume to parry your block force x parry bonus has to match the damage dealt?
So if I'm remembering correctly the amount of damage you can block is limited by your own personal stagger bar which is 40% of your max health. The formula for blocking is something like (damage/(blockarmor*4))*damage. A parry with a iron 3 buckler is 100 block armor and a fuling deals 85 damage (both of those per what the wiki says). That means that after a parry 18 damage makes it through your block (then it gets reduced by your armor) so you should be good as long as you have around 50 health or more.
I ask for parrying, not blocking, though
And I gave you the parrying answer
you said blocking.. I can parry things that would kill me if I just blocked
e.g. with a level 2 bronze shield I parried trolls, when I blocked they killed me
Health pool matters
blocks and parries both uses "block armor" to calculate
parry block armor is just normal block armor multiplied by the parry bonus
block force is just how much knockback enemies get
this convo makes me want to try a bronze buckler in the plains with ashland 3healt food and see if that works.
you can add a \ before the * to make it not do the formatting thing
High health pool and minimal blocking armor should suffice Nevyn. Gotta consider your level as well I guess
am starting to hate copper farming
I can parry deathsquitos, so thats a good sign ig
i got stuck within a node and a troll uninstalled me
they do only 40 damage to me with troll armor too... huh
I remember plains being harder, tier 2 armor vs plains is easy now
if you're good enough at dodging, you can make the troll mine for you π
π
What's your health bar
if you are good at dodging, you used to get needle arrows before first boss. now it needs a high crafting station I believe
130 hp, 120 stamina
Nice. You've already been jousting the squitos?
can u up ur health ? XD
squitos and fulings now, can parry both
sadly cant parry lox, dunno if you can at all
With food
You can
If i remember right, you can parry almost everything but blobs. you just might not get a stagger effect on some other creatures(like bosses).
not with a iron shield at least, and they 1 shot :'
Your hp and block armor isn't high enough
thats literally what I said, cant with a iron shield
not good enough at blocking with that
Raise your health too
you can only eat the best food available at the tier, my guy
Jousting lox at 130hp is part of the problem
A TROLL AHS DIED BY MY HAND
I just try out stuff, dude
I AM A GOD
since there is no wiki for this I gotta trial and error
was looking for pillars to get some stone, not a single one there
I was able to parry a lox with a bronze shield 3 at around 145 health. Waiting for my health to go down more to see what my limits are π
thhe autopickup of items is so annoying istg
Press v to turn auto pickup on and off
must have a crazy high block level
Lvl 3
And I got lvl 3 from blocking the lox xD
Also important to know, what difficulty setting do you have on for the enemies?
no clue, default I think
If it's default then you should be able to block them with the appropriate amount of health. I'm doing this with a brand new character with no armor and no levels. Just the shield
I avoided going to the plains again cuz I couldnt parry with bronze shield
with iron 3 I can, so im going there now to get stone. tho I do want my wolf armor so I dont get 2 shot if I slip up lol
Now that I think about it, I wonder what settings this world actually has. I could have nerfed them since it's my test world. Important to check O:
Ah yeah I had it cranked down, I'll have to retest on normal
dunno how those translate into the game:
130 slash
120 blunt, 100 chop, 100 pickaxe
bite
stomp
for lox attack
pickaxe and chop are vs trees and rocks I assume, so is it 130 for bite and 120 for stomp?
Yupp
so the iron 3 shield might be able to parry? if I level my blocking more
currently my parry force is 108.5 (43x2.5)
Yeah after fixing the settings I could NOT parry the lox using the bronze shield. My boy got yeeted into the afterlife.
yeah bronze 3 shield has only 30 block force
bronze sheid is like, 3 biomes out of date at that point
I'm testing it for the homies here. I have no personal interest in this xD
pretty sure you dont yet have stone usage in black forest
unless you cheat your way into crypts
I would never π°
gotta get that 2 iron early
well with terraforming sure i guess but i got 5 iron chests of stone before even needing them thanks to copper and silver mining
Silver mining in BF tier?
sure but i didnt build with stone till after i got silver
I build with stone after first boss
finewood bow, troll armor and abyssal razor are enough till mistlands
and whatever best shield u got rn
do the berserker axes have their own skill tree, or do they use the axes skill tree?
with mistland enemies I dont fuck around tho, that 2 star soldier bombing you with 240* damage...
how does building upwards work, idk seems hard to ventilate and roofs wont do good (falls off)
early on a good option is to use core wood for pillars and build normal wood on top
integrity degrades the further away you get from an anchor point, most commonly the floor
but you can stack different building materials on top of each other
stone/iron > core wood > normal wood, dunno about marble/the ashland stuff
They use the "axes" skill
Thanks!
it wont rest in underground base q__Q
ashlands SPOILER WARNING would i be able to make my|| slayer sword|| to ||thundering|| after upgrading it to level 2?
tfw a lox and 3 deathsquitos team up
Roof and fire
Yes, but unfortunately it resets the weapon to lvl 1 ||when made thundering so itβs a waste of materials to upgrade it before enchanting it||
thank you!
Does each biome have a specific weapon that is good ?
a very simple strategy is to build a hut, and then build a 1x1 wall-less area with a roof slanted the opposite way as your hut, and put the fire there
does lava kill you even with fire resist wine
try it out, for science!
is the green light in the sky something special?
Approach it
Yes
some biomes have clear top choices, but you can probably get through the game just playing what you like
any weapon that has been used a decent amount will be better than switching to a new weapon due to skill level with that weapon
Is there no counter to seeing better in the mistlands?
wisp light and wisp torches, other than that not really
the mistwalker sword also helps but is inferior to the other 2
Ok. I was wondering about that. Haven't created the wisp catcher thing yet
I've found when it rains it really cuts down on the mist
also getting high up helps, eventually you'll get a piece of gear that helps you climb better
Flying jellyfish crapped all over me. Not a fun CR
On rare occasions the mist has completely disappeared for almost a whole day after a bad storm
drink fire resist mead
Oh it's fire? It just looked like diarrhea to me.
explosive diarrhea, yes
Didn't really have much time to asses what happened.
the feather cape is also a must so you dont take fall damage
yep fell off a few cliffs trying to hide from the helljelly
just get some fire res wine stocked up, you'll need it for the Gjalls
(especially when you start having feather cape)
We have those from the yagluth fight
yagluth got 100x easier with the resist pot. Seems like the resist buff would be good for that too then now that I know it's fire
you're gonna need the fire wine for ashlands too, esp. when running with a feather cape
Not surprising for Ashlands
Are the little crossbow freaks descendents of Haldor/Hildir?
wrong use of the word, but yeah, same race
After you've had vindaloo and three gallons of ghost pepper sauce.
How many tiles high for earthen wall to contain lox? 3 ok?
5-7
pretty high, ok
They stack each other like circus πͺ
Work the earth* square to cardinal direction. You will be able to maintain true and level walls. Mobs can navigate sloped walls
yes thanks. it's pretty straight
I always struggle to build a good looking smeltery
Will stone above a wood door protect it from elements?
Actually I'm going to do iron
if you do iron, build those stone "support" pieces 1 space above, in a 2x1 area so they form an arch
imo looks better that way
yea I did 2 columns and spanned the top with 2 2x1 blocks
Do i still get xp for bow when the fire arrow dot kills them or does it give xp when i hit enemy ?
When hit
alright thanks
Had a queen spawn too far south in my map near ashlands. Would that one respawn somewhere else or is it just gone?
it should move to different location i believe
is there a way to place rubies on the ground?
ive seen pics where its done, but I cant seem to find a way
well, item stands are often used for that
im hyperfixating on my base now, whats a good location, im guessing building within black forest is a no go
you can build a base in any biome
How far into the game are you
the problem with an early black forest base are the trolls but once you have bronze gear those are a joke
only base i wouldnt wanna build is a completely artificial ashlands base
everything else can be fortified until its invincible
I went from a rock ring in the meadows to a legit base in the plains
My progression is typically having a first base in the meadows along the beach near a blackforest. From there my next, and final base for the playthrough, is usually on a small island of plains. The closer to Mistlands that island is the better.
i usually pick a base next to a river for a calm habour and only move that base extremely late into the game, usually a plains base next to mistlands or mistlands
Seems like I underestimated the use of dvergr circlet as spotlights.
They illuminate a lot
Do anyone know when will the patch in public test transfer to the actual game?
When it's done
I think the Ashlands will be the first biome where I have to resort to spamming workbenches or campfires to thin the numbers
Why do you need it when not running feather cape?
One word, ||valkyries||
agreed
Is the fireballs a common problem? Iβve never been hit by one, they move slower than a snail
When you do get hit, they hurt like hell, especially if you're wearing a feather cape
I should probably wear an ask cape instead
if you get hit by a fire attack u melt liike butter.
Yyyyep
Especially as a mage if you're caught with your shield down
If gjalls alone were reason enough to continue bringing fire resistance wines, then the big flyers of the Ashlands are still plenty of reason
fire resistance wines are fairly cheap to make, I've just always run around with some and pop if I come across Gjall or Valk
Its not the cost, its the inventory slot
True that, that's why I always never bring a hoe in my travels
Why would you bring a hoe in the first place?
Its useful in the swamp
In my case, to use as a siege ladder
Are we just supposed to fill obliterater with ash bones?
Tru, thatβs the only place I bring one
If you want coal, sure
Ashlands to for forts
Yeah! Should be useful as a siege ladder, or one of those cool siege tower thingies!
Is there another use for the ash bones though? Havent found a fortress and cant use them for anything
Seems expensive to make a ladder out of earth, I would think wood is much cheaper
Though you can accomplish the same thing with your hammer and a stack of ashwood, the hoe just makes your entry indestructible
Shield generator, a bunch of recipes
the charred arrows uses them
Ahh the arrows
Its a half stack of stone. Not exactly an issue in ashlands
I mean, you're just raising the terrain, all you need is a handful of stone for that and a workbench
Coincidentally, such a pillar is a great middle finger to Moder's ice missile attack
I suppose. I guess I just like wood bc it isnβt used up and I like to have wood on me anyways so Iβm not sacrificing a hoe and stone slot
That said, using siege engines is much cooler
Although not that cool, bc fortresses suck

I was hyped up for using siege engines against sprawling fortresses, like a tiny (or one-man) army advancing towards a huge fortress
Turns out it's no bigger than a fuling camp π¦
I like using forts as outposts so the entry not being easily destroyed matters to me
Ooooh, great thinking! I haven't thought about that! Indestructible building where I can truly finally be safe from enemies!
Though I suppose that would have come to mind after managing to take over a fortress, which I haven't gotten to yet
Well shit, I didn't think to use ladders to climb up the fortress walls either
My first fortress actually had a natural hill right next to one corner so i could just hop in.
I took it as a sign
I've played ahslands like 40hrs so far no fortress yet lol
I need to find something to use battering rams on for its tremendous mining power
But copper nodes I'm not sure on, since I still need to level the ground, and silver veins are small enough to not need to do extensive mining
Hmmm, maybe one of those giant jotun corpses
No aurora borealis to guide you?
Nope lol
Haha, ouch
If you ever need to clear those big mistland rocks thats what a ram is good for
Oh shit, great thinking there!
Mining metal not so much
Rocks
Omg thats a great idea
I went to another queen boss marker on the far east of the map. I donβt see anything around the queen marker is that common?
If you got the markers pre ashlands
I get the ashlands resetting my far south one. But the east one should be okay?
Plains rock pillars
Did everything reset?
Finally I can tame the mistlands terrain!
But then I'll need to figure out what to do with all that stone
Maybe I can use it to build stone structures to tame the ashlands by decreasing spawns and thus thinning their numbers
Huh, a practical reason to build a sprawling town even in lands as hostile as the Ashlands
Terrain gen changed so undiscovered pois are reshuffled
Oof
If you remember where you got the marker just go there again and you should get a working one
I should probably build a bridge of ||drekkers|| so I can more easily do a corpse run to the next Ashlands island should I inevitably die on that next island
If I am an axe user is Jotun bane good to use against the queen? I see a lot of people using mistwalker but sword is 0
you could probably build a normal bridge between the spires. Or just slap down a portal on one once you're near the coast.
the poison damage is kind of low (and poison doesn't stack) so it's not ideal. You'd mostly be relying on the slash damage which she's resistant to. Also the slow attack speed will wreck you when dealing with the adds.
Your best bet for a sword alternative is atgeir (Himminafl does lots of lightning damage and the spin secondary destroys adds easily) or magic.
anyone else experiencing framerate drops with the ashlands update? I suspect it comes from having many lightsources, which used to be fine for me
that's a universal issue afaik(lag/framerate drop). I haven't looked at the bug list on the website since PTB (pre-live), but I think someone mentioned that they were/will be working on that at some point.
someone here gave me the advice to just head toward the direct center of the southern area of my map and ill find the fortress like that, and it was there lol
yep, the biggest landmass for ashlands is usually dead center/south.
I'm trying to level up my elemental magic skill right now. What staff do you think levels up your skill the fastest. I believe before The Ashlands it was the ice staff.
i feel like im cheating whenever i bonemass π it just makes combat so much easier
Spires? Are those what those crags are called?
Also, I don't wanna risk the portals getting destroyed by the numerous mobs of the secondary island
as long as they can't see it they won't attack it. Since mobs don't attack normal walls unless aggroed on something behind them just build a box around it with a door and it's perfectly safe.
unless you're in it anyway
That's the problem. I got attacked the first time I tried building the box for my portal, and I only barely survived nighttime by the skin of my teeth by running to the top of an archway
It's no doubt gonna happen again if I try that again
build on top of the archway then. Worst case a ring of terrain walls stops everything but voltures, valkyries and lava blobs.
Is it possible that no one thought that in Ashlands, the use of gems is very difficult for those who play co-op?
The enemies are stronger but the gems remain the same.
Remain the same how?
iirc they only balance for solo, so unless i'm misremembering that's exactly what happened.
The same number. we don't have enough to boost. We play 5
There should be 10-20 per world for each gem
Which should be enough for even a full server
if everyone only gets one weapon lol
The only way they would run out might be if every single player crafted the same weapons, and the same effects.
Which seems highly improbable
Exactly
A player that plays bows wouldn't care about melee effects, and the same player might just be interested in like 1-2 effects
For the bow
almost nobody uses only a single weapon
it's completely ridiculous to claim it as some kind of expected standard
That would make 4-6 weapons per player.
That's 4-6 gems player.
In that server, it's 20-30 gems.
There are still around double of that in a single world
you need 2 gems for a level 2 weapon.
Either way, resource rates modifier is there for a reason
But then it's not a criticism, I understand the choice. but I also feel sorry for those who play for completionism. or for us who are playing the game on maximum difficulty
Pointless...
Upgrading weapons is worthless, and upgrading enchanted weapons is a player shooting themselves in the foot considering it only upgrades base damage, not the effect
Then you're pretty much asking to run out of gems π€·
Your decision, your consequences
You can run fine at base enchanted levels
So unless they make enchanted upgrades also upgrade the effects, lvl 1 enchanted weapons are enough
if you run outa gems you can always world hop to get more
That too. But as a last choice.
Tbh, by the time you get geared up properly you should be at the end of ashlands aka about to kill the boss. And there's nothing beyond that
hard limiting the main upgrade material to a number low enough that even in a 2 player game you can't craft everything for both people is completely ridiculous and a slap in the face for anyone who plays multiplayer imo
there's no reason for gems to not be farmable
What...
For a two-player server you would have a lot more than you could even need. I literally said that even a 4-5 player server would have the necessary, then how wouldn't a two-player server not?
10 of each gem is barely enough to craft ONE dundr, a trollstav and a gemcutter in the case of bloodstones. That's without any blood weapons at all.
In my solo playthrough I've only used like 6-9 gems total, another player would be at around the same amount.
That's 12-18, and there are dozens of gems in a single world
Yes, that's what we'll do, we have a server on normal difficulty (yes, we finished the game twice). But we're sorry for completionism, we've always made all the weapons
Each one of those need one bloodstone, and you only exclusively need one gem cutter.
That would leave you with six gems. Not a low amount and you have what you need
i really should stop talking here when it comes to gems cause i have no idea about them lol, ill leave that to you
6 gems is 3 upgraded weapons. There are 5 melee weapons, a bow and a crossbow with 3 variants each, plus magic weapons.
also dyrnwyn which also needs gems
Why would you craft each enchanted version in the first place? That's your decision, again, you're asking for the gems to run out, your choice, deal with the consequences
unless you're just not supposed to craft the legendary sword you sailed all over the ashlands for either
You donβt need a gem in every weapon. You could choose to have a normal flametal weapon at level 3 for the durability
it's because "you can't craft everything no matter what" is stupid game design
And also upgrade them when it's so worthless to do it...
People should really start to deal with their own actions rather than blame everything on others...
It gets tiring, and I can't imagine how it would be for the devs themselves
there's no reason to lock people out of half the new gear unless they cheat
what's tiring is fanatic fanboys defending every bit of game design like it's sacred to their religion, no matter how silly it is.
Resource management has been screamed at you from the start of the game.
If you didn't get that memo for seven consecutive biomes then I really don't know what to tell you
there is not a single other material in the game hard limited like gems are. Try again
has very explicitly criticized half of what ashlands has since the beginning
Has explicitly suggested ways to solve that specific "issue"
Yeah, good thing I'm not one of them
But not the first time I debate against someone who speaks without fundaments in this discord
like the fundamental idea that players should be able to use the gear you put in your update?
And you can
Similarly, you can also start a new game, play different, use other weapons.
That statement seems like coming from the notion that you must 100% absolutely everything in one single world
I see it as encouragement for replayability
Expecting people to start a new game just to experience the full content of the second to last biome is also ridiculous.
points again at resource slider
I donβt know how much flametal is usually in a world, is there not enough for everything? If you arenβt putting gems into every weapon there should be enough gems without terrible luck.
there's a ridiculous amount of flametal
well resource sliders exist so so gems are also nota problem anymore
Imagine taking the time to implement those sliders just for people to complain about things that can be very perfectly solved by those sliders because they refuse to use them....
Sometimes it feels like they lost their time on those and should've waited and implement them later
i don't want or need more resources, i just need gems to be farmable the same way everything else is
a resource slider is no excuse for shitty game balance
you can't just affect gems with resource sliders, you affect everything
and it seems entirely plausible that if a few people in a playthrough want to make weapons with the same gem type and you get poor rng on the gems for not everyone to be able to make what they want
theresource slider would affect how many gems you get though... like? whats the problem?
or purchasable for gold
that would work. the game needs more gold sinks anyway
Players are not expected to make every gem variant of every flametal weapon in ashlands
Good luck on trying to convince stubbornness
Lets say you play unspoiled. So what, you're expected to blindly pick a random weapon and gem effect and if it's not one of the good ones tough luck, start a new game? And you don't consider this an issue?
This is not the first time I see someone dislike a game decision, and because you do agree with that decision you're a "white knight fanatical fanboy".
good luck convincing without arguments
I would kinda expect that when playing blind, it's expected that you just won't know or get everything
There's a billion other things the game doesn't tell you
is it me or did they up the spawn rate on the golems in mountains? Seems like every day when i go back to mine my vein there is ALWAYS a golem spawning near it to attack me. Fortunately they are easy work, just a little annoying
true, but is also doesn't prevent you from going for one of the other options if you don't like your first pick
It's even worse due to the fact that I haven never, not even once, said that I agree with it...
And even stated this
I literally only explained the reasoning, just that
i'm sorry, but you can't honestly expect me to search to the posting history of everyone i talk to here
golems will respawn every day, practially had to kill the same gole spawn 5 times in a row
easy to to stop them is to trap the golem in a hole
your answers certainly implied agreement, or at least being fine with it
It's because of these situations that I don't bother clarifying what I say...
It's completely and utterly pointless if people read and comprehend whatever they want to read and comprehend, despite it's not what you said
Sorry, but it is not.
But it is because of what I said above
interesting, well that does explain it, so it wasn't my imagination that they are spawning every single day lol
It's not worth clarifying things
good source of crystal and well its the mining that atracts them
people not knowing your entire posting history seems like MORE of a reason to clarify, not less
I want them to make warlocks spawn at night after fader is defeated and they drop gems
we could've saved like 3-4 pages of back and forth ffs
tldr no one is pleased with current rate of gem acquisition?
From what I've seen here plenty of times...
It wouldn't do much, people read what they want
yeah i have been keeping all the crystal that drops plus some i got from the one frost cave I have done, it's pretty nice, and thanks for answering!
If youβre going into the game unspoiled you wouldnβt know the other options are better and would just continue the game with what you made.
sounds good to me then
they also drop one of the coolest trophies in the game
On another note, chances of them doing something to ashlands are low now.
They shouldn't have released the update so early and continue tweaking in PTB instead, now we're beating a dead horse
And they're about to go on summer vacation
yeah i've been lucky to get that one before, not yet on this run in spite of killing a bunch of them since i am mining veins for a fully upgraded silver sword and frostner
no, i just craft everything to try it all out
oof that silver sword ate 150 of your silver thats not cheap xd
yeah but it's good on Yagluth and Moder so it pays for itself long term
i like to melee Moder
silver sword is also king of dps against charred
is it difficult to change a world modifier on a dedicated server partway through the playthrough?
that 45 spirit damage really pulls it up combined with the low stam cost
You change it the same way you would at the start of a playthrough
Dedicated server is different afaik
was just wondering about feasibility of changing drop rates via world modifier when hitting ashlands and leaving it normal for the first part of the game, that way early game wouldn't be impacted and could have a work-around for gem scarcity
how much is the max comfort?
17 without seasonal items, 19 with maypole and christmas tree
i have 18
gl finding your missing piece
unheated hottub
i just watched an ashland video where they recommended a magic skill of 40 before going there, is that necessary?
what's the best way to get blood clots? I've been all over meadows, forest, swamp, plains... have yet to find any americans
Farm ticks from a gjall
I killed one but he didnt drop anything
maybe bc he died over water
Go in the dungeon more time
Gjalls spawn ticks while aggro, you probably killed it too fast
and by killed one I mean I watched dvergr fight him for a while and then got the last shot
is there any new player BR who wanna join our game?
baton rouge?
Brazil prob
what's the point of a horn if i can right click to drink a drink?
aesthetics
is there an actual use for the tankard or is it really just an aesthetic item

whats the fastest way to level up my magic skill?
yall think 'deep north' prob wont come out for a year right? deep north prob 1.0? or you think one mroe biome then another year for ocean rework etc?
elemental or blood
both i guess, do they have different methods?
yes and it helps if you have a friend
elemental is easy to level, just use it. find something that you can trap in a hole and withstand the ice staff. most use a golem i think. just keep unloading on it. for blood, the go to is digging under an active greydwarf spawner so that they spawn constantly into a pit you have your mele skelitons summoned in
is it really necessary to have both leveled up to 40 before going into ashlands?
i would highly recommend it but you can get by on 20 or 30.
There is only one biome more and that is deep north
yea prob over a year. I'd say more like 2-3
Probably been answered somewhere, but if I use an old map from like last year, will the new update ashlands be present in areas we've never been before?
Yup, it will.
But be aware the Ashlands update changed a lot to both the Southern and the Northern part of the map when it comes to the biomes being connected to the other biomes.
So if you build something close to the Ashlands or the Deep North, those buildings may actually have disappeared or will collapse while you are looking at them.
does anybody else feel like their ashlands is so scarse in resources that they have to jump to other servers to get more
What resources are you referring to?
only for gems, ore is ok
Are you using the Queen power to mine the ores?
Because I managed to get quite a lot from a spire while using that power.
im also playing on a servers with 2-4 others
even with the queen power were only gettiung about 10-15 ore if were lucky per spire
per person mineing at the time
I can't compare my experience there, only server I've done for an Ashlands playthrough was with increased resource drops
after deep north they shoiuld have a feature where you can ascend to valhalla
After the Deep North I'm still curious what the 9th boss might be ;P
it is mentioned in the opener now (post ashlands going live) that once your job here on valheim is done, vahalla awaits you.
Jotunn
will they wipe everybody's accounts for the official launch
This isn't your standard MMO
A frost Jotunn going to stomp your body to clean his feet on lol
i doubt it. much like every update, thus far, hasn't done that yet.
whos going to start a new play through once 1.0 launches anyways!
every major update I do create a new world.
I do multiple playthroughs for every update Valheim has had since launch so nothing will change in that regard for me π
That's literally the final goal
So i will lost my world? After going to valhalla
or its only lore
in ARK we can ascend to HomoDeus but we can go back to play anytime
doubtful
prob be able to go back but depends they might have a terraria credits feature and thats ascension wheres its just pretty much a cutscene and done and then u jsut go back to ur world or its genuinely a feature wherre you go there and you can just chill at the tavern / fuck around
How would they even do that?
my friends don't believe the valheim wiki - they said that wards do damage resist from AI
is this correct? ( I know it's not but they say oh the wiki can be edited by anyone ) He says he found this on the steam forums, from the game files?
Wards don't reduce damage done to build pieces
Started a no map run, built a house, went searching for Eik, got lost, end up in mountains, set up new house. Good times
They do not. Trust me, the Wiki is accurate.
Just completed ashlands, for me its currently the best biome in the game in terms of views, travel, progression, items, enemies and the boss. some things make it slightly annoying but i love it
shouldnt hildir tell you that you only need only 1 of each chest?
i just spent 7 hours sailing the whole map for all 9
The minute you try and give her a second of any chest she tells you it must be a forgery.
yeah but i only went to her after getting all of them
My main grudges are forts being a bit boring and forts/dungeons/spires not really being more challenging than just traversing the landscape, Bc thereβs high spawn rates everywhere
Otherwise Ashlandβs is great
The mind boggles.
I like the point about the traversal, but i wont say that a fort is easier than exploring, my first fort was a tough battle
Later in the porgression it becomes easy
My view may be a bit skewed from playing the ptb where spawn rates were higher for a while
They were a bit higher, yeah. It IS supposed to be difficult remember.
No, I'm completely sure they are right now how they were during early PTB
Honestly i was very surprised about the boss
I liked them when they were high, but yea I did (and still do) find fortresses not interesting or difficult enough comparatively
