also I noticed you can dodge roll past the meteors, but it's not really viable because of how big the hitboxes of the meteors are. most of the time you're gonna get hit anyway

depends usually I have to search at least 3 or 4 Mountains for caves to get all I want (and the wolfpelt to go with it it takes both the hair and the pelt)

Nerdy explanation: Boyancy. Living things tend to breath and have air inside of them. That is why big chunky ships made of steel can float, but if you throw a steel bar into the water it's not going to float.

You'll stop floating if you release enough air, a simple thing to test but obviously better done in shallow waters

there are some areas where its less dense -- it's not uniformly distributed so sometimes you can find little pockets where its easier to see than normal. but yeah, generally on especially high peaks or areas near the ocean you can find bits with less mist

I saw something very tragic today. Growth actually won a fight against a single lox! The lox got stuck in the tar pool and kept getting pushed back in until it died

After that I'll see if i'm able to turn the tower into a mini base to drain the rest of the tarpits.

The PTB is in its second week, to in regards of that it's 100% complete.

It isn't, however, 100% bug free.

So you can start the beta if you like and will most likely not even be in the Ashlands before it's released in public.

I'm a developer, but not a Valheim developer, so my opinion is only very slightly more informed than a layman's. I would personally expect another beta update next week if not tomorrow, and I'd guess another one after that depending on if the fixes add new issues. After that we'll see, but it will hopefully be near complete at that point.

Frost caves are great for enabling stone buildings in mountains - destroy the doors for iron bars (not ore, bars) with which to build a stonecutter.

No, it's not a sustainable practice. But if you need iron for a stonecutter and you have a mountain nearby, it's often easier to just destroy some doors than it is to mine a swamp or ship metal to your base.

The way that it works currently, saves are not backwards compatible - meaning, you can't load a save made in a later version from an earlier version. If you make a save in the PTB and then go back to live branch today and try to load it, it won't work.

But saves are forward compatible - meaning that any save made in an earlier version of the game should be able to be upgraded to a later version with no issues.

So, if you make a save in live, you can open it in the PTB branch and it'll upgrade with little/no issues - but you can't then bring it back to current live branch.

Seekers resist all physical damage. They're not so tough when elemental damage comes into play though, like with frost arrows, ooze bombs and the Frostner (and other weapons you get after getting Mistlands resources going)

Finding a swamp can be easier done from water by using a Karve.
Once you've spotted one, try to find a friendly (aka Meadows or Black Forest) biome and enter the swamp from there.

@random cave Anyway, there is no "best way to play this game"; but there is a set out path you can follow.
Basically that one is Meadows -> Black Forest -> Swamp -> Mountains -> Plains -> Mistlands (for now).

If you're still learning the game, don't go too fast. Instead consolidate each biome until you feel you can control it's monsters without being killed all over.
Pick your favorite weapon and stick to it as much as possible, but be aware that some bosses may require / demand you to use another type of weapon instead.
Harvest as many resources there as possible to upgrade your weapons, armor and food before actually going to the next boss.

If you take your time, set up your base defenses and keep your weapons and armor at their top levels, you'll find that this can be a very enjoyable game. And once you know some of the "ins and outs" you will be able to skip a part of the process and do everything faster.

But if you rush it a bit too much and as a result die too often, you may actually start to dislike the game and wait to play it again for a long time.
Which would be a shame, as it's a great game. (otherwise so many won't be playing it, eh? 😉 )

It should be noted they only take normal damage from slash. It's just better compared to other physical damage types because blunt is resisted and pierce is highly resisted. Those resistances are also part of why it feels tanky, if you aren't using the right kind of weapon to fight them effectively.

At least a couple of decent strategies exist to dispatch them without much trouble. The larger tanky enemies always seem like immovable objects until you learn the right tactics for each of them. Taking risks (like attempting to block/parry and melee them instead of spamming arrows from a distance) is also a great learning opportunity.

Almost every other resource is renewable or you can find a lot more of it. Probably no more than 100 hives per world

i suppose, but when are you ever gonna need 100 hives for honey. thats 400 honey per harvest. I get like 15-20 hives for my runthroughs and that serves me well for all my honey needs
