I believe 2 hours give you the basic idea of what's the game is about. Getting further into the game just slowly unlocks more features and expands on existing stuff

#

Hi everyone!

#

I was wondering how does someone tries pvp in this game? I have been playing for 200hr more or less now in my own server and I want to try to join another server with PVP enabled where I can experience that part of the game, but it seems it is impossible to find a server or even to join one without a password

odd helm
#

All servers have passwords enabled. Try searching for PvP in #1024264966712340510 and contact a server host.

frail raptor
#

There is no post with "pvp" on the lfg channel. it sends me to another channels

#

is this a thing in valheim? almost no pvp servers/community interested on it?

frail raptor
odd helm
#

Are you using the general discord search function? Try adding in:servers-and-lfg to your search

There's not a lot of pvp posts, but they're easily findable

paper marsh
frail raptor
#

Have devs talked about this already?

It would be a shame that potential part of the game is not expanded/developed

I feel like the game could easily "host" both "game modes". Like rust, V rising, or similar titles

summer hinge
#

They've already stated that PvP is not, and never will be, a focus

paper marsh
#

If you do want pvp expanded there's prob mods for it tho

frail raptor
#

Thing is that I dont usually like mods. Im and old guy and I rather prefer to play whatever the developers release

summer hinge
frail raptor
#

Thank you all for the kinds responses

summer hinge
frail raptor
#

Hard to read that....I was so hyped out about the game could be somehow like V rising

#

with both pve and pvp communities and the game devs doing things for both "modes" of the game

lunar sapphire
#

I was given a key for V-rising. Found it extremely hard to get into. But as per the channel header states, best to continue this in the #general channel

frail raptor
#

Sorry if a brought the wrong conversation to the wrong channel

azure yacht
frail raptor
#

In the world of internet there is always going to be toxic people. The thing you need to to do is to provide tools to prevent those people to thrive.

There is a window for people that enjoy in a healthy way that part of games. The PVP. Also servers with weekly/monthly wipes would have sense, where people could come from time to time and play a wipe or two and then have a rest, but it would definitely bring more people to the game and more opportunities to enojy it in different ways.

Stupid toxic humans are going to be out there alwways. Capping the possibilities of the game to prevent them from joining is not something i would like

azure yacht
#

You're saying it yourself, toxic people will always be there trying to ruin the fun for others...

Then why trying to spend time and resources into giving them the means to do so?

#

They could use all of that into expanding the game to the goal it has had since always.

And I don't understand how having more people playing a game you can perfectly play solo or with a small group of people is a good justification. It's irrelevant

ember panther
#

I think a PvP world could be fun. Let toxic players play with other toxic players

plush umbra
#

Just ends up with people bringing in modded lvl 700 weapons

#

Or showing up in god mode

frail raptor
#

Because it is not "spending time and resources into giving toxic people means to be toxic". thats a straw man right there.

It is giving to the game another dimension to enjoy. If you dont want to experience it, you just stay in your own server, or in a full PVE server. No one is forced here. Im just saying that PVP could easily be fitted into Valheim and it could be lots of fun.

Having more people playing the game is good for people that actually like to play with others and meet new people. If you want to stay on your own, alone, thats fine, and there is room for that as well.

#

Also, more people could mean more money to spend on expansion and development

azure yacht
azure yacht
frail raptor
#

Another strawman right there. You clearly write like a fallacious person. Where did I imply that the initial sales were too poor so they need more money?

lunar sapphire
#

Woosh, subject change ❤️
Best the conversations moves on it seems

azure yacht
#

I didn't. My point there is that more money is the last thing they must need right now

frail raptor
#

So what? I was just sharing thoughts on positive consequences of having a bigger community on a game

#

What they need or dont need is not relevant to the point

Very glad Valheim became a thing. I don't recall seeing another game that mixes building, fighting and adventuring quite the same way. Not the only game with good building mechanics, but game actively encourages you to build stuff. Practical stuff.
Not just building a house for the sake of building a house. You build a house because bed needs cover and your fire needs protection from wind and rain... and while at it might as well make it look good because why not?

A lot of stuff needs storing? Build a warehouse or a room for storage.
Need some cooking done? Make a proper kitchen. Want to mass produce mead? Maybe make a cellar for it. Stuff to craft? Maybe make a workshop. Ect.

how many meads can i have at the same time? For example, a stamina and poision mead

paper marsh

You can carry as many as you want. You can drink all the different types of meads in the game at once to get their effects. Do note tho that (at least early game) only the resistance meads have lingering effects (poison mead lasts 10 minutes). The stamina and health meads just give you a near-instant regeneration of your health and stamina, and then go on a 2 minute cooldown before you can use another

Favorite weapon class? For me it's polearms. Attacks with long range gives you a big advantage against most mobs, you can time your attacks to hit as they approach or swing to stagger and finish them off with powerful crits. You can still effectively parry with decent armor and high health, just don't parry starred late game mobs and you're golden. The special atttack is A-tier and will stagger most enemies and knock them back giving you breathing room and easily dealing with fast swarming enemies. I use a mace for fighting bonemass and yagluth and an atgeir for everything else.

For me prob knives. Just love the speed and agility of using them

Entering the biome (thus getting the "new biome" thing when you first enter it) is completely irrelevant. An area of 9x9 zones centered on the player's zone is generated, with a zone being 64x64 metres. The generated area is a bit bigger than the fog of war limit on the map.

You can parry them with a silver shield I believe, but they have a weird cooldown timer, I think it's different for each attack they have. I just dismantle them with a dodge-roll forward when they attack, secondary mace to stagger them and then hit them a bunch. Rinse, lather, repeat.

uncut bough

you can parry a golem, but as i said i think that it is simply not worth it to fight them, but letting them stick around the area that you later might return to isnt ideal either

paper marsh

yea they recover quick from some attacks. But on my difficulty the parrying is just a nono until you get later biome gear

uncut bough

they recover slower when they do a wide swing attack, maybe because the damage it deals is lower so it staggers them longer when parried

the smash attack though, yea they recover faster, and i remember it has another type of attack which might also let them recover faster but i forgot, i have long moved past mountains

Not against the queen. My only death to a boss was in my second playthrough. I tried magic for the first time and even with all the armor my eitr wasn’t regenerating fast enough. The skeletons kept dying and the bubbles were breaking in one hit because they aren’t immune to chop and pickaxe damage. Easiest way to deal with arrows (imho) is to use wooden arrows for anything you can kill with one shot.
Which means deer, boar, neck, greylings, greydwarves - minus the brutes - for sure.
Skelletons and Draugr most likely; at worst they need two arrows.

Use the arrows you find in the burial chambers and sunken crypts in your next biome and only craft the ones you can get there.

That'll save you from gathering feathers over and over again a lot.

#

If it helps;

In the current last biome you get the ability to get so many feathers from an animal you can breed, you don't even know what to do with them.
So you need to "endure" this situation for another 3 biomes. 😉

silver is more likely to be on mountain peaks no?

nocturne wolf
#

Anywhere on mountains, usually flat areas

hidden brook

i nearly died bc the game completely disregarded me clicking 4 to take out my mace

Keep the Spirit up😎

hidden brook

also should i completely run away from golems?

paper marsh

heh, spirit, while looking for silver, sick pun

nocturne wolf
hidden brook
#

how do i fight them? ive got lvl 2 iron mace

paper marsh
dreamy kiln
#

Or use the good old pickaxe

paper marsh
#

I have pretty much no idea if you're able to parry it, but I think if you roll through one of its attacks and then secondary attack you can stagger it

hidden brook
#

oh also how do i roll?

paper marsh
#

Pickaxe works too, although definitely worse than mace

nocturne wolf
hidden brook
#

omds i thought it was crouch + jump

dreamy kiln
#

And maybe use bonemass buff at first attempt

paper marsh
#

it's kind of a weird keybind. Most games are just ctrl or space

dreamy kiln
#

True

hidden brook
#

how far do i typically dig down to get to silver?

#

the signals strongest in this spot im digging down and its a whole lotta nothin

lunar sapphire
#

2-4 metres?

#

not very far

#

depends if hilly though

hidden brook
#

hilly...

paper marsh
#

5-7 hits with a pickaxe maybe. Just dig until you can't anymore to be sure tho

hidden brook
#

im 100% sure im at the right spot but im so deep

#

im defo 2 of my characters deep

paper marsh
#

possible its just too deep but think that would be quite rare

It doesn't always ping silver, sometimes it's other things. Should still be there tho

hidden brook
#

ive reachers the bottom bottom

paper marsh
#

Dig around to the sides more

#

Also good news: Silver should be fairly plentiful, you don't need huge reserves of it, and its pretty easy to mine out (you can mine the ground out under it and then give it a wack, it'll all collapse. Very satisfying)

hidden brook
#

ok turns out i was totally wrong and since its my first time using it, the sound was alot lower than its supposed to be

#

thats a stone golem fucks sake

#

im nowhere close it wtf

#

hes coming straight for me i didnt even see him once

paper marsh
#

silly golems

hidden brook
#

i cant seem to get close enough to hit them thooo

#

like i roll a hit, get close, animation is too long and i get hit when i try to roll away

nocturne wolf
#

Try a jump attack
Sprint + jump forwards and attack to keep your speed during an attack animation

hidden brook
#

??

#

jump attack??

#

oooh okk

#

i found it

paper marsh
#

Space bar. Left click

(Not any special secret move, just helps being able to move as you’re hitting)

hidden brook
#

also shouldnt i get on its head to kill it?

#

i was told its a good way of solo killing it

nocturne wolf
#

You will probably fall off, but you can try

hidden brook
#

BAD IDEA BAD IDEA

nocturne wolf
#

Have you got bonemass power?

hidden brook
#

yes i activated it literally rn

paper marsh
nocturne wolf
#

Try parrying it, if you have a banded shield or iron buckler

hidden brook
#

you can parry his attack?

paper marsh
#

You can parry almost all mobs attacks if you have a decent shield / decent health food

nocturne wolf
#

You can parry all blockable attacks

hidden brook
#

oh easyyy

paper marsh
#

Exception being like blobs and stuff that have weird attacks

hidden brook
#

haha shouldve told me you can parry him earlier :)))

#

took half his hp in quarter of the time

nocturne wolf
#

Don’t assume you can’t parry an enemy unless it has stars in plains or mistlands

hidden brook
#

he dead ashell but its turning night uh oh

paper marsh
#

I probably shoulda been clearer. I had no idea if you could parry it with your current gear bc I don’t play much normal mode or fight golems, but yes they can totally be parried

nocturne wolf
paper marsh
#

You… don’t wanna be in mountains at night

Which just makes it really cold💀

Add "food" suffix to not confuse people.
If look only raw values (ignore cost and mb even duration)
Before mountain visit: turnip stew, muckshake, serpent stew
After mountain visit: eyescream, onion soup, serpent stew

whats the first bronze weapon you guys make? for me its the mace, curious what others use

grizzled wing
#

Axe technically, but I personally skip bronze weapons as I'm keeping swords for ashlands and I don't care for atgiers. Bronze is such a grind but basically opting out of the weapons makes it much shorter

hidden brook
#

personally i think they should put copper or tin in the meadows

#

one of them hence the or

#

i never knew how to repair.... until now

grizzled wing
hidden brook
grizzled wing

Maybe, but i think most people just waste too much bronze on weapons/upgrades they don't need

spent too many hours overnight going for copper and tin
