Even the biggest update so far (mistlands) added very little pre-mistlands content (fishing stuff).

Hildir was a different kind of update on its own meaning the only way we get that type of content is if they specifically plan a similar update

Seasons are definitely too much work for a world modifier. Unless they add seasons in the first place, only then a modifier with no seasons, fixed seasons etc. could be implemented.

A world in which the seasons never change is just... weird for me. I live in a place very affected by seasons. Winter should be cold and snowy. Summer should be hot and humid. Leaves should appear in spring, then change color and Fall! I guess I'm just a dreamer, but that would truly make this game a lot better. Better get your crops planted and harvested, Winter is always right around the corner!

Specifically the chest piece from the swamp Light Armor set (not iron) is amazing, and is so good in later biomes

If you want good armor you can definitely get a helmet and maybe legs out of iron tho. For me troll or bronze legs are alright too tho

the chest piece gives ||pierce resist. Halves all piercing damage. Imo all the most dangerous/common enemies in Swamp, Plains, and Mistlands deal pierce damage. Despite being from a low biome and having shit armor, the pierce resist on root chest piece more than makes up for it, making any pierce attacks feel like tickles||

I rarely ever block, but it does reduce enemy damage a good bit, at least if you have an upgraded shield or a tower shield.

Real power of shields is parrying. If you block right before an enemy lands a hit on you (gotta time it well) you negate 3x as much damage (basically you don't take damage) and you stagger the opponent, which basically stuns them and lets you do 2x damage to them for a couple sec

To parry well (a parry can fail even with right timing, if you dont have good enough values) key is basically to get a high level buckler shield and eat 2-3 good health foods

But on normal mode getting successful parries doesn't require too much

I love movement, I tend to go for light armors and also knives (which dont slow you down) are super fun

I stand by swamp being the hardest tho. No stamina, water puddles you get stuck in, and draugr archers (especially with stars) sniping you from out of nowhere. Black Forest is pretty easy once you get used to the game. It's for sure a journey tho!

Ngl trolls feel kinda overtuned. I mean they die quick to pierce damage, but they still got a lot of health, damage, reach, and speed. Compared to an abomination which is slow AF and barely does more damage

Troll armor is my go to every time tho. I often just use upgraded troll armor instead of iron, because it doesn’t have movement penalty and protects pretty well

Enshrouded seems more controller friendly, and has more of a "class fantasy" rather than Valheim. The exploration is also different because of the nature of the maps for both games, as far as I can remember, Enshroudeds world isn't persistent, where Valheim is. Enshrouded has a bit better controls and combat potential imo, but Valheim is basically better in every other way for me, and Enshroudeds combat is too easy I think too, just mash attack button and don't really need to put too much thought into it, while in Valheim you will most likely get punished for doing that. Valheims combat could be better, but I think it's still pretty good for a open survival craft game

I strongly recommend playing as intended the first time, that way you get to properly experience it.
Building outposts is very recommended - you can always keep spare forge/work station/etc metals in your boat so you can set up anywhere.

I always use a portal to get all non-ore drops home, and once I have enough ore to fill my boat, sail it back. Those trips with a fully loaded boat can be a quite special experience 😎

You don't even need to finish current game. By the time you reach plains you can see yourself to be familiarised enough as to change whatever you want

Haha, the design is pretty amazing but I think the team did a fantastic job on the whole boss fight experience, 10/10 for me.

It's levels above the other bosses in my opinion. The door opening lets you know it's important & serious, then the fight in the citadel with the mist makes the experience claustrophobic and scary. The music is spot on (it is for all the bosses), and the versatility in her attacks and moves is not only cool to see but also makes it more difficult, learnable, and adaptable. The first time I fought her at the beginning of last year was truly an experience, and I'm hoping for something similar for Ashlands. I'll shut up now.

You can build in the swamp trees which is the safest move if you can make some space long enough to build

Sailing at night can be very dangerous, especially in the oceans. I would suggest putting in to port in a black forest or meadows and teleport home for the night. Do not land directly in the swamps unless you know exactly what you're getting into 😉

You should have portal materials for coming back home, and some wood to surround it so no mobs get to it. Other than that, your best food, decent weapons, good rested buff and exploring during daytime to be safe.

I think a club and the Stagbreaker (essentially a 2-handed club) can be used together, and they use the same skill. Use the club for fighting a few mobs at a time, and Stagbreaker to diffuse a crowd.

When seeing swamp from a boat, don't land there.

Instead, sail on until you find some meadows or BF biome, land there and explore the rest of the area on foot.

Too many players have lost their boat(s) by docking at the swamp and forgetting about one of the monsters.

Mace is cool in swamp. The stagbreaker is for AOE damage when you're mining in the dungeon, it can be a bit overwhelming when there's a spawner. But you do you how to fight, goodluck btw!

Not really... There's some hidden underground but you'll find way more in the sunken crypts which are locked behind a gate you need the key for entering

You mine iron using a pickaxe, the swamp key is to get you into places that will have the said iron to mine.

There are small deposits outside but it's not worth the effort.

If you wanna glitch yourself into them you can place a portal right up to the gate... But you may get stuck 😅

If that's your concern, you could set up a small portal base in Swamp and fight some mobs to get used to their attacks.

If you have the right defences (i.e. 8-10m wide moat or earthwalls), there isn't much to worry about.

My first raid after first boss, wass very devastating, Dwarf brute attack and shaman poison+healing was kinda hard. Until I had better ddefense and attack tbh

if you're worried about raid, you can just run the mobs in circles for a couple min until raid ends. Then you just have to kill that one wave of enemies at the end

You can survive the "Foul smell" raid with stakewalls and just a hammer.
I never had oozers, but they may actually be worse as the "foul smell" raid.

But you can survive both when you got an 8m deep and 10m wide moat.

It means, dig a trench around your base of 10 meters wide and 8 meters deep.
Anything that falls into it won't be able to harm you or your base. Ever.

The raid I mentioned has some ranched monsters in it. They will try to destroy your stakewalls by shooting at them.
If you have those stakewalls within range of a workbench, all you need is a hammer to repair them in the time the raid lasts.

There are plenty of burial chambers, troll caves and wandering trolls where you can get the funds for that.
Even sunken crypts as well.
And the latter got the advantage that you'll get more iron from them too.

Turnips are in the Swamps. Little yellow flowers, if you see thistle they can grow in similar areas, small hilly bits of the swamps. But they're fairly infrequent and easy to miss. Onion seeds are in the Mountains. There's generally one or two new crops per biome as you progress past the Meadows.

Disadvantage, cooked serpent meat requires a stone cutter (2 iron ingots) and an iron cooking station.

So you may want to stick to the best BF food, use the turnip seeds to grow some turnips (minimal 6 as you will need 3) so you can build the spice rack and use boar meat, thistle and entrails for sausages.

And use that food to replace your worst BF health food.
