I slowed waaaay down after the mountains, I’m working on establishing a strong base in the plains.

But I did find Yags vegvisir pretty much immediately lol

doesnt help much in the fight with yag though, cause ya know, it sets you on fire

Good ole’ wolf armor is pulling its weight in the plains for me haha only thing that catches me off guard is the occasional 1/2 star fuling or especially brute.

Deathsquitos I’m pretty decent at, I react to the audio que and dodge/block pretty effectively. Really love the tar pits too!

I still haven’t been able to conquer a howling cavern, so I’m probably going to hold off until I get a little better gear

Pretty sure the Elder do summon few greydwarfs around, it happens in my run. If your armor and weapon are fully upgrade, you can ignore those greydwarfs. Also I use bow with fire arrow to fight the Elder

The Elder doesn't summon any greydwarf adds, the only adds he summons is the roots that sprout from the ground.

During my experiments, I learned that if you are close to the Elder (which means he does not use range roots attacks), but outside the attack zone of his leg, then he simply stops moving and waits for his death.

On the matter of being able to yes, but for that piece in particular it'd be overkill

Trophies return one coal when obliterated, so that's the best use for extras. Or hanging on the wall. You MIGHT use them with the Mistlands base defense weapon, but it's unlikely. I generally keep one stack of each trophy in a couple chests just in case, but everything else gets obliterated for coal 😉

They have limited ammo, and they don't always aim great. Might be a trick making sure they don't hit the spawner itself too.

Functionally no, but the wolf cape needs more silver to make and upgrade than the lox cape.

Sounds like a plan. It might not hurt to have a backup cape that also has cold resist, but your silver armor itself will resist cold so it's not that necessary. Lox cape is good for aesthetics if you want it, or I tend to make it instead of the wolf cape because it takes less silver and I often kill lox before I go into the mountains

If you find deathsquito a scary I’d recommend making the root chest armor from the swamp. It halves deathsquito damage (and then the damage goes even lower from your armor)

I think the answer to ranged weapons is just having more enemies that are fast so they can close the distance, evasive so they’re hard to hit at range, and aggressive so you’ll be struggling to regain ranged advantage. Hope to see some of that in Ashlands

Uhh prob making a lil platform over bonemass and shooting him with a low tier bow with wooden arrows and not drawing the full shot but just shooting as fast you can and letting the arrows drop down on him

Tbh if you make a lox farm you can prob also farm a lot of skills just hitting those bad boys with low tier weapons (flint knife, Finewood bow, etc.). Won’t do much for magic tho (Golems are good for ice magic)

Staff of protection should work, yes, although I guess in a PvP setting bear in mind that it won't discriminate other vikings from you if you're applying it mid battle. You'll end up shielding other players as well.

So I'd say go for a ton of eitr if you trust the ranged fight, and go 1/1/1 if you think they'll catch up to you

Nice thing about 2H is it has less of a movement penalty as compared to sword and board. But Valheim is just terrible for PVP anyway, there's nothing balanced anywhere and your best bet would probably be the frost staff, fire staff or bile/ooze bombs 😛

No, all meads have the same cooldown "slot" for a type. Tasty meads are underrated by most people though... it's like a mini Eikthyr boost for 10s with zero cooldown. 50% less HP regen in exchange for doubled stamina, which is huge during combat or while running away

so then MY corpse is on the line as well, so we had to sail again

Honestly, straight line, avoiding spawners if you're worried.

You can wade through most of the water and still wield a weapon, it's usually fairly shallow. Leeches will nibble you but poison resist mead makes the threat negligible.

Having a high rested buff, a good stamina and a good health food to get you out of sticky situations also helps.

...and don't travel at night.

If you can sneak onto a mountain long enough to loot an onion seed from a cabin, onion soup is really nice for swamp. Stamina's a pain when you're constantly drenched
