I actually didn't use bow as much when I started
Cuz I was like I hate fps and fk aiming
one of the most fun in this game is killing them with meele weapons
But then I died a bunch and say to myself let's use the safer methods
I wish we had catapults.
yeah, but its not a way to learn how fight each mob, but mb its just me being weird 😄
But even now that I am now bow main, I uses melee in most of the combat in open world and save my arrows for dungeons, and bosses
Frost cave infested mine? Arrows and ozze bombs are so good
Especially clearing the frost caves I remember sniping the uv with arrows 90% of the time
The spear is frankly an embarrassment in this game. Historically the most op weapon and it can't find the broad side of a boar.
We have them. They're called mountain golems.
All the "spears are thrash" statements lost relevance the moment that guy won the trials of the speedrun by using mostly spears
i never said its bad, there is no such thing as playing valheim bad way as long as you enjoy it, i just said its not my style
I agree with marticka.
Yep
But meta is meta
thats becouse spears are stupidly cheap compare to other weapons, as i said before
Meta in terms of speedruns, safety, or economic?
Dmg 😎
really depends on what type of speedrun you wanna do
Well each enemy has a different weakness so you have to use different weapons for different scenarios
thats a myth
Unless you go with the Atgeir "scrub gun"
Noob tube go “Thunk”
A bunch of people swam the channel but pardon me for taking the tunnel.
That's so far in though
Also this would imply the guitar hero controller is meta for beating dark souls because 'some guy did it tho'
You talking about the ||fire staff||?
😂😂😂😂
Ashlands today?
ashlands is the day it is done
No
darn it
yep yep
Recent dev blogs be very promising 🥳
yeaaaa I watched the last walk and talk which apparently concluded the series 😦 but nw, next step more valheim 😄
first of all
that should be in #1024264966712340510
Stop spamming this crap
We need the Smiffe smash on this please 😂
it was handled
no, it was a subjective opinion
<that'll_do_subject_that'll_do.gif>
good? no.
best? ||yes||
Anyone ash laaaaandss
We all do, but theyre mostly empty
I loved the part where valheim said: You really are the ash lands
hopefully my eyescream will not melt there.
You know, i bet theres one dude here that people hire to build houses in valheim
that would be
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Have you checked build screenshots recently?
There are a number of guys who qualify 😂
Ah welp ill take that as a No, there is no one here that hires builders. Instead theres a ton of builders xD
Were you thinking aesthetic or survival base
More on aesthetics
Survival bases mmmm not so much
That would be like a fun hobby todo
Basically what an architect does LOL
It's life and death tho
and who mines the resourses?
I just realized the consequences xD
Weird question, does anyone know the exact rules of how necks and water lilies spawn in new artificial bodies of water?
I need it for my 'school project'
Water lilies, don't spawn like creatures. They're part of environment, you can use grass mode of cultivator to grow them kinda.
for neck, check this page out
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Spawn_zones
Yea, i meant how game decides whether to make them or not
its grass version for water
I don't think there's any way to force them to grow. If they were there before you removed them, they'll prolly be there after too but you'll only find them in shallow water.
I'm talking about new artificial body of water and how necks appear there after some time, even if before there was no any water
And why in some places water lilies can appear but in other they can't
You just need to use the grass function on the cultivator, though it requires meadows i believe
I looked it through, not a word about necks require water around. Obly that they spawn during rain
Neck spawn options
check altitude tab
"From −1.5 to 0.5 m"
You of course will need it to not be spawn proofed
Right, my question is a bit more subtle. Why in some exact places of my new canal water lilies can be placed with cultivator, in other you can reapply cultivator 1000 times nothing will appear
"Random" pattern most likely
Oh, ok. Thank you. Didn't notice thag
So there will be variation
So it's more like random then ig
Yea
Just my speculation but I think the lily pads and a lot of stuff are kinda predetermined
For example like if you place a stone block in a location, no matter many times you break and snap a new one on that place, it'll always be the same variation of the stone block (ie the rough surface), unless my observations are wrong lol
This is interesting imo. I would like to understand the whole 'calculating' logic behind this
no idea sadly
is 683 iron a lot?
depends on your needs
i would say its quite a nice amount 😄
Pretty much, but sure not enough to build a rocket to leave that world
if you don't build much then it's okay, if you do, not really
I once mined longship full of iron, that was a fun trip to do lol
i had to make two trips with the iron from the swamp in my current playthrough, still have some of it and i am currently at the beginnings of conquering mistlands 😄
Goodluck in your journey!
im not a builder, i dont have creativity when it comes to building stuff in games
same
Best way to become a builder is to build
And try things. You get all resources back, so play around
yeah in hammer mode
welps
Ill take it off your hands then
lmao
theres other things to do in my building simulator?
Yes, build more
I watched the recent walk n talk last night. I love how, I think it was Robin basically said, axes are sub par.
I think he said people THINK axes are sub par
A true viking is not supposed to be a creative builder, more like a creative survivalist
First of all how dare you
I was trying to decipher what he was saying.
If you were a better builder you’d have made it to Valhalla
Oh shoot i forgot about all those wonders of the world built by vikings, my bad
Every time I go full send on a build Odin shows up. I think you're spot on
Tell me about a single thing built by a serpent
Yep I’ve only seen him while building
Strong relationships inside their community
Mic drop
Getting hot in here. Must be Ashlands on the way
It's bantz
jealousy is a vice
Yeah so stop it ❤️
That was pretty witty for being off the cuff though
good afternoon vikings
Looking forward to exploring the swamp on sunday 😄
be sure to bring poison resistance mead 😄
Yeah I already made like 40 of that 😄
great
I hope my skeleton tower shield is good enough to block some of the damage
i am not sure if you want to be slowed down by the tower shield there, but if you are used to it why not 😄
I like the malee front line kind of play style
Except the abomination, I ran tf away from that
Prepare a crypt with something to let you get on it, and can stand on top of crypt and kill abominations
Hey all, quick question, are the tall stone pillars in the Plains unbreakable?
No
Great source of stone
Damn, so it might be unwise to build a base on top of it?
Ahh okay, and those little goblin bastards/deathsquito's won't randomly attack the structures either? (I hope)
I see, thank you a lot!
Just like walls, if they don’t detect you, they tend to ignore it
Skeeters will just fly up to get you anyway
Perfect, thank you!
I visited the plains once and died to a flying thing
I don't think you can outrun them
Parry and kill. They are glass cannons
I don't have parry skill yet, i have a skeleton shield tower
Hit them first then lol
can`t wait to be able to sail all the way South
you veiled it pretty well, hope this is not some kind of a euphemism though
Start using dem round shields parrying is op
I think it would be ideal to start using round shields especially when approaching the swamp. Parrying is incredibly important in this game, I think you will find out xD
I remember totally dominating the swamp with my bronze buckler and mace
If you can’t parry, dodge. If you can’t dodge, block. If you can’t block,
there are few more options, but yes, i like this 🙂
Don't really want to grind for those weapons
you parry enemies with shield, not a weapon most of the time
However, parrying with knives is neat
Knives Out!
Glass Onion!
Plant Onions!!🧅
Definitely plant onions. 'Salad' is one of the best foods in game in terms of return on investment. So much so, I suspect the developers are vegan.
Honey glazed chicken tho
Delicious, but don't bring your health foods into the stam food hierarchy 😛
they're vampires. no garlic whatsoever
Devs are just making sure you eat a balanced diet~
Oooh! A conspiracy theory I can get behind.
I've taken care of chickens, they can be classified as vegetables. They... are not smart.
I'm not sure your definition of vegetable is valid.
Unless you're making a horribly inappropriate joke about mentally challenged folk...
“Chicken’s not vegan?!” -Todd
Who's Todd? Is that Thor's son?
The Vegan bassist in Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Oh, yes, I recall. Sorry.
I thought todd howard and skyrim chicken
No those chickens are gods
Great film! I'm just tonight two-thirds of the way through re-watching the Cornetto trilogy.
The greater good
The greater good.
What's best of the greater good and the gooder great?
You know... my father-in-law does this - he asks questions he knows the answer to in order to continue the conversation. Look inside your heart, @latent wraith my friend; you know the answer. 😛
Listen to your heart, it’s calling to you… to log in and gather more stone
Does gathering more stone mean I'm collecting a... Rock Set?
Roxette?
Like the game you took the wind out of my sails
Socratic Method is tried and true 😉
What made you adopt the Socratic method?
Effectiveness 😛
They asked a question and answered it
Empirical support. I have no greater respect for an opinion than that.
You ruined my joke, though.
Naah, that's why I laughed at it. It was good 😉
Ok. Thank you. I'll take that.
anyone got room left in a server?
Would #1024264966712340510 be a better place to ask?
Damn! I just turned my last available room into a Man Cave. Sorry.
damn
i don't know where you're going, and i don't know whyyyyyyyy
Sing this when deer run into the ocean
Forgive the ignorance, but I just want to clarify - If I join a voice channel and share my screen, people can come watch my game without being in it, yes?
Yes
wolves too, they are so funny they'll chase a deer and then just get kind of stuck out in the water
I love Valheim! There is so much fun stuff in this game. But, the AI is awful.
when you spend more time rescuing your guards than having them guarding:
There's also a ubiquitous trait that enemies tend to have in video games in that (if they're evil) they just unambiguously attack the player. I'm no game designer, but I would have thought that some 'intelligence' around player ability would inform enemy aggro. For example, would a Greyling really just flat-out try and kill me if I'm wearing Carapace armour and wielding Mistwalker?
The enemies we've seen so far are pretty much mindless beasts. Fulings and Dvergr are the only ones with any kind of possible intelligence.
We'll have to see how the AI works with smarter Ashlands enemies 😉
Yeh, I know. That's pretty much my point.
bad guys are upping their threat level
Greydwarves are spirits of murderers and thieves.
Greydwarves seem to me to be mentally challenged and equally enamoured with beating their skulls against stone walls as they are with throwing stones at anything that isn't a Greydwarf.
But yeah most games have poor npc “smarts”. “Look! The Dragonborn! Let’s mug em!”
"I just saw him kill a dragon with 3 arrows... I think I can take him"
That's not bad AI, that's bad writing.
Yeah, bad at writing AI
Skeleton Surprise is a case in point. Are they trying to ascend to some kind of afterlife? And why would any of them that haven't been forced to the front line be "tired of fighting"?
don't npc's outside towns already do that?
I love the skeleton surprise, it's just really funny.
makes no sense for law abiding citizens to be mugging anyone in broad daylight in the street manned by town guards
I’m confused
(although there are a few instances where even that happens)
Wait... you have a server with enough members to make some of them town guards?
First half of this year
this what i wana to ask
Roughly when half-life 3 does, I think
The Google search requires less characters than you expended here.
If you need a solid source, look at the pins of this channel
Mic drop by mod
imagine after completing the event game waits like 10 seconds and after it under every player on the server one abomination proceeds to get out of the ground under them (in any biome) and the game says: SURPRISE!!! then event music plays again
@odd helm where i can find mods ?
thanks 🙌
Have you tried early 80s Britain? 😛
(Jesus, I've just dated myself).
umm, can i find some random servers where i can just join and play with people? or every one is just a password private serwer?
All servers require a password to be created
@fallen zephyr no
Feel free to browse in #1024264966712340510 and message the owner of the server you want to join
Regarding servers - I presume that anyone that joins an existing server is subject to the progression that anyone on that server has made?
How was that date btw?
I believe there's a modifier now that allows raids to be determined per player instead of server progression, but otherwise yeah.
the mirror was fine survived the ordeal
The hair was big, the shoulders were padded, and neither of us spent any time on 'personal devices'.
Valheim 1980s overhaul when
Gets into a fight with a Greydwarf - "You fight like a dairy farmer" -- "SCREEEEE!"
insulted dairy farmers everywhere:
Most likely, but playing Pong with a Greydwarf seemed a difficult joke to make.
would've been way better, if you had pulled it off
I play golf with greylings, so….
two players with frostner playing pong with a grey
Wish the harpoon worked like bionic commando
I can't think fast enough for that after half a bottle of bourbon at 1:30am.
you used to be able to launch boars and players into space with it
too fun for valheim, so it got patched
That was a great game! I played it on the Amiga 500.
I remember.
Harpoon rubber band was amazing
Could launch a Viking across half the map
maybe we'll get it back as a fun only feature later
could easily be a modifier toggle somewhere
Tribes 'disc jump', anyone? 😛
I played the hell out of Tribes
Did you manage to find a reasonable way to take your computer case from one place to another?
I had a cable modem and would usually play on Diamond Multimedia hosted servers
My tower spent an unreasonable amount of time seat-belted into the passenger seat of my car.
Tribes on Valheim maps would be incredible
Oh ok, I'm probably ten years older than you.
1972
does anyone know how the yggdrasil trees are called in the console?
I stand corrected. I'm three years younger.
oh nvm i found it
can i join im new so yea
3 years here, 3 years there, at our age it doesnt matter 😄
I'd be appreciative if the next Valheim update allowed me to purchase a high-powered speed boat.
in a documentary i watched recently, thors axe was able to pull the boat through the something i looked away for a moment, perhaps we could have that?
Thor's axe?
I'd be happy if there was simply a way to build oars, so that multiple players could help boats move faster. The boats have oar holes, and seats for rowers. Oars can't be that hard to build. Either that or let us build dvergr magic-powered outboard motors.
But we do have Moder's power, although I'll admit I have never used it. Forgetting to swap back and then not having Bonemass when I really need it...no thanks.
Isn't that intended though, due to it leaving solo players in the dust? I wouldn't mind though I solo most of the time.
Just let us enslave draugr and have them as oarsmen
Maybe, but that's kind of like real life though? One-person boat is not going to go as fast as one with lots of oars-people? Not without favorable winds anyhow.
I agree, but I believe that is the reason it has not been implemented
But as Valheim is firstly a single payer game, things that specifically favour multiplayer (even more than what's unavoidable with how a lot of things in the game work) is not wanted.
there will be mods of all kinds, especially once we have the whole full base game
and no more massive updates monthly to affect mods
There's probably mods that add faster multiplayer boating.
This is why I like the enslaved draugr thought. Extra bonus if they could defend the boat from marauding greys
They said Far North is coming after Ashlands. So it looks like the game won't be out of early access until 2025?
Probably not.
Dev said recently that they're not sure if they're doing Far North first, oceans first or both at the same time.
There's one full biome, and ocean stuff, and probably some balancing and overall tweaking and whatever else they feel like doing left.
If the Far North is planned to be a fully fleshed out biome then yeah, most likely
thought oceans was a maybe
And that's assuming there isn't some unknown final area that needs to be done. I remember a comment that the big tree in the sky (Yddgrisil or however it's spelled) would play a part in the end game. So I am half expecting some kind of final boss fight or something up there in the end.
Oceans won't get a major update like an actual biome
a balistae in front of my boat tyvm
Couple more monsters and maybe another resource and I'm happy with the oceans.
gjall surprise attacks while at sea
Just let me attach the harpoon to the boat ..
extra fast gjalls
Some big crab thing that latches on and crawls up on to the deck of your boat while you're sailing
Draugr boats
a kraken that eats you, the ship, and everything is lost forever
unless you drop in a couple of bukeperries to escape
It's probably just me, but I wish they would beautiful the oceans a little more. Kelp. Maybe jellyfish (moon jellies, common in northern oceans), and they glow which is cool. Starfish in shallower ocean water.
get spat out by kraken, together with a new yukky resource, kraken saliva
you make Odins brew with that
There really does need to be some kraken type thing
There does?
She val my heim till I bonemass
I agree with @cyan tusk. Having an arbalest makes serpents trivial. There are layers upon layers of progressively harder land mobs, but serpents are the only enemy in the water. Let's correct that.
Sharks with friggin laser beams
if you want to join someone you can look into #1024264966712340510 😄
The kraken itself is Scandinavian. Usually a squid-like creature, but could also be a giant crab.
There is the hafgufa, which is a norse creature of legend. It is described as the norse kraken, though it is also described as being like a whale. A creature large enough to swallow ships.
Lyngbakr is another whale-like monster.
We encounter a Troll in the black forest and it was nighttime so we decided to flee. Then we met another troll so we find ourselves 2 sided so we ran west to meet a third one. Shamans and brutes incorporated. Well in that area of the forest, there are no more trees nor rocks anymore.😆
Free resources, YAY!!! 😄
Troll Brothers Landscaping at your service!
lol we came back with 2 carts and we where full inventory 😂
Convert wood and stone to piles, cart everything else out, then come back for piles
I do thin wile mining the copper and silver
+5k hours is +5 k hours. I provide tips. 🙂
is there a command to flatten land in a specific area cause even in creative using a hoe is taking years
You need to learn to discipline your hoe.
infinite hammer tool can perform this but its a mod.
I think I remember something about spawning in a grounded merchant ship which spawns in an area of flat land around it but not too sure about it
Is it known how much res you get from Bonemass buff?
In game tooltips and experience tells me 50%, but according to Wiki and other players I hear it really is a scale of 50-75% depending on your armor value. Although I'm not sure entirely how that works
My mate gets black screen sometimes, but he can still move. Its just Valheim. Anyone know this issue?
Loose connection at monitor, monitor temp, something with gpu. Intermittent problems are curious to troubleshoot
what is the new update?
Ashlands
Probably not for a few months though
Long enough to finish a hardcore play through 😉
The wiki is kinda confusing in its wording, the actual resistance effect is a 0.5 multiplier. The 50-75% from what I can tell is the reduction compared to when you don't have the resistance.
I just loaded 11 copper into a smelter somehow
For example, for 100 dmg, 50 armor, without resistance you take 50 damage. With resistance, you take 12.5 (theoretically).
That's a 75% reduction comparatively.
How does a .5 multiplier reduce damage by 75%?
Can happen with multiplayer
server lag probably, i played on server where wasn´t unusual to put in 13-15 😄
Nah, nothing such a thing. Couse its really just about Valheim, he can still close the game and restart. Its just a Valheim Game issue, since it doesn't happen to any other high graphics games. We're on same LAN connection, if its about connection i should ve experience the same.
Ahhh so like key distinction is that usually armor value gets less efficient with more damage blocked but with resistance it allows you to take the damage off with armor first and then applies the resistance, but the resistance reduces damage by 50% of the ORIGINAL damage instead of the amount armor reduced it to?
Does sound a bit complex but just trying to understand
No no, the resistance is applied first
Hmm then it just sounds to me like resistance is taking 50% off and any other damage reduction has no connection to your buff. It’s just the armor reduction you always get?
`Well technically speaking, your armor prolly blocks less damage with resistance on, than without it.
The 50%-75% is a comparison between the final damage values for the same armor.
For armor < dmg/2, final damage is dmg-armor
For armor >= dmg/2, final damage is dmgdmg / (4armor)
So, like for 100 dmg + 50 armor
Without resistance it's simply 50, with 50 blocked by armor
With resistance, it's 12.5, first 1000.5 due to resistance resulting in 50
Then, 5050/(4*50) resulting in 12.5, with armor blocking 37.5
The range in question is not a comparison to the original damage, just a comparison to what you would have taken without the resistance.
Take a different example of 100 dmg, 25 armor
No resistance = 75
Resistance = 25
An extra reduction of 66.6% here.`
Too lazy to escape the *

But honestly it is as you say, the resistance will block 50% by itself, regardless
I am taming an army of 2 star wolves close to Yagluth. Also clearing out all the camps and tar pits near by
Don't forget to place campfires around the pits, the growths respawn even if u drain them
For sure doing that. This is the way.
I went outside my base after so many days of building today
To collect tar for building more
There are 2 camps and 3 tar pits right close. I hope 50 wolves will be enough. I am not much of a builder so I always clear the pits and place fires all around. Growths are a pain
finding these mistland crypts is no fun
the worst part is most have been very small mistlands and i have to sail and sail
The growths aren't that reliable as tar source anyways. Mine aren't spawn proofed because I forget to spawn proof

I always spawn proof them. I am close to taking on Yagluth
I think I c. Interesting
I would definitely spawn proof the ones around yagluth, no doubt about that
I plan on bringing 30 to 50 wolves. Should be enough
does "parry bonus" refer to getting extra block armour on a parry?
Can I ask how come wolves and not ||Lox||
Lox don't follow you and don't have stars, likely
In which case it took 20
Hmmm 🤔
I'm not much one for cheesing bosses tho
It's easier to get wolves to follow me.
I mean solo I don't see it as cheesing. I am using what is provided and it takes some work and time to tame all these wolves
I bred them free range on site
I could do that for sure. Just going with the wolves. Thought about using both but i think the wolves will be enough
Not much different to using them for defence
Even on hardcore settings? Would it be cheesing or utilizing every asset available
Wolves will follow you to your next target tho
for me cheesing. Not judging others decisions tho
Just not much for getting a flock of wolves or lox so I don't have to use my skill to do anything but just watch them play the game for me.
Or using a bow to shoot down every melee enemy while standing somewhere they can't path to (or just using bow in general, it's kinda busted. But not too bad unless used excessively)
Or constantly spinning with an atgeir
Or creating Earth walls to prevent enemies from getting to your base (that one I have caved in to on our current run tho, those raids every 20 minutes get a bit annoying especially without using a bow heh)
But it's all up to the player 😄
I just like to set a lot of challenges for myself to go the more difficult route
When I make my own base though I'll try and make it without earthwalls/moats
All the playstyles have difficulties
Thats why I love this game. So many ways to play. Next play through I can totally do it in a different style. Best 20 bucks I ever spent.
I definitely do like trying to use different weapons throughout the playthrough. It's a lot of fun to switch it up
Regrettably I've been using like all spears on this run so far bc it's rough out here without a bow
Spears 🤜 🤛
Next play through I want to survive on hand punched Neck
I can't get into two handed swords, axes, hammers, etc. Atgeirs rock, but the other two handeds are rather disappointing.
yea two handed isn't really my style either. I am considering picking up a battleaxe for dealing with raids though bc I have max raid frequency on. Not having damage split between mobs sounds nice
Watching people who can competantly use those weapons is awkward. The animation and attack speeds are so slow and the animation cancelling is so clunky looking. Can't bring myself to mastering them, so they are decorations now.
My stand on battleaxe will probably also depend on how good it is at staggering and knocking enemies back. Because if it doesn't do much of that I'm dead using it. But if it does some good stagger it might be superior to trying to take on 5 enemies with a one handed melee weapon
do you people prefer root mask in the swamps (besides the boss) or actually making antipoison pots? or the third option just tanking poison damage
Root mask is far more efficient once you have the mats for it.
Definitely not tanking poison damage. I need that resistance (especially on Very Hard). Getting roots for root mask is a bit much trouble, and the mask only gives 50% resist which isn't great. Poison pots gives 75% resist and is super easy to make so that's my go to
I wish the mask was more useful but to me it isn't
I do pots. Once I am further along though I just don't worry either way
oh didnt even consider cranked up difficulty I was more orianted on normal haha
I think I am ready for Yagluth. I am a bit drunk though
the hardest boss imo
I struggles with yagluth a lot more than I did with the queen
Yea I agree Yagluth is the hardest
I am debating. Go to sleep or just do it now
Probably sober is optimal
True but it could be wild lol
nah, queen harder 😄
You know you best. If your good to process it all. Send it
The good bois will carry the fight mostly anyway
I’d say depends on approach. With the ||magic|| approach and setting up ||wisp torches|| she’s not bad
Well i didn't try magic on her yet, will do that this playthrough probably 😄
hi guys
i would say queen is harder as well, especially since magic is no option for me 🙂
valheim is THE game
Wait so she’s harder in general or she’s only harder without magic?
Got it done and I have like a ton of wolf meat now
Congrats and a moment of silence for the good bois. How many were lost
🐺 😭
probably 30
o7 and they were 2*
is there a normal boss summon area for yagluth?
i would say in general, since you cant beat her as fast as yag
what do u mean?
Yea. The fingers of a big stone hand coming out of the ground is what it looks like. And then in the middle of it you can sacrifice fuling totems to summon him
Hmm I’d rate difficulty based on how hard it is to complete rather than time to complete but yea yag should be faster
Thank you
I think I just find the tools available to deal with queen superior and her attacks are easier to dodge. Tbh I haven’t fought either in a while tho
I was wondering if it appeared on the map and functioned like all other boss spawners or if it was hidden or something
its just hard to find vegvisirs
The vegvisirs (red stones showing boss location) for him are pretty rare but when you see Stonehenge like structures there’s a chance for the vegvisir to be there
yeah, you can find vegvesirs, but most probably you find the location first
she is summoning minions, thats what makes it slightly more difficult than yag
Having done queen with both magic and melee I’d say she’s worse with melee but easier with magic. 2 seekers take like a couple fireballs to get rid of quickly, lil ones takes 1.
I guess Yag can have minions too which are more unpredictable but that’s easily thwarted by prepping the area beforehand
yeah, i think we can agree there is no big difference in difficulty on those 2
Throwing difficulties in here I am slightly concerned about Yag on very hard. But will likely be using shield bubble against queen which won’t be so dangerous since I can tank any hit no matter how much difficulty ups her damage
have you fight yag on hard yet?
Nope
than you should be concerned, yeah 😄
i havent fight last 3 bosses on very hard yet, but even on hard it was solid difference
Yea. I fought Moder on hard, she was tougher than expected and I usually find her a cakewalk
yep
I plan on rocking mistlands food for yag. Prob won’t be too bad either bc I’m now playing on a server so gonna have some backup. But I’m also running a solo very hard world so we’ll see which one I fight him on first
last time i fought those in a group as well, the speed between attacks was sometimes frustrating
the food difference means almost nothing, if you get hit, you die 😄
But at least stamina could help a bit
yeah extra stamina is always handy
That’s why he scares me more than Queen
Anyways looks like he does like 200 damage on a meteor hit (if you have fire res). With good health, okay armor, and a health potion against fire tick that seems easily manageable as long as you don’t keep getting hit
yes, but he isnt dealing only fire damage if i remember well
No but
240 fire damage (with resist, 120) and 80 blunt. So 120+80 = 200. And that seems to be the most dangerous attack
yeah
Ofc could be reduced further with bonemass but I’ll prob be rocking eikthyr
Just being able to survive a oneshot is nice. Although the plan is to not get hit 😅
the biggest difference is he wont give you a break between attacks, he just keep attacking 😄
with the queen its she doesnt hit that hard and as you said, her attacks are easier to dodge, but the minions causing much more troubles there
Don't try and scare me into dealing with him with a bit of magic bc you might convince me 😭
But I think I'll be able to take him just gotta be super well prepared
i have no idea how it is on very hard, we will see in couple of weeks
And with queen the damage she does do I'll prob negate with bubble shield as well
yeah, you could, sure thing. i m not using any staff at least till the a comes out
very fair
in the groups it makes sense, since there is possibility of lag and everything hits even harder
You can skip yag until you get staff of ice then machine gun spray his ass
yea thought of it but it's not as fun a way of dealing with him and I'm not sure whether the risk of getting ganked by 2 shot seekers or by a 2 shot yag is more dangerous
searching for dungeons in the mist on very hard without light- big NO thx 😄
I wanted to ban magic bc it feels cheesy but it is so fun to use I do want to play it. Especially because I haven't explored it too far in the past
I'm planning on mainly going hybrid though with like 1/1/1 H/S/E to get a balance though
yeah, agree about that. if they would decrease the fire staff and bubble strenght, would be perfectly fine for me too, its just too op as it is now
Eh I'd say it does have some fundamental cheese (similar to bow) even with lower values, and that would be tough to change. But it does have quite OP killing times right now and I would welcome some nerfing
I'd nerf the ice staff too though, just not as much as fire staff. Especially could use a nerf to prevent it from being too good in ashlands as well
i dont think it would be that hard, decrease the blunt damage would do the job, or increase the cost of fireball. same with bubble, decrease time, or increase the cost
Mistlands is easy if you zoom in all the way and stay in the valleys
1stars are basically guaranteed to spawn at night so id just avoid exploring then
Infested mines are immensely more easy if you cheese with sledge, ooze bombs and bonemass power
two issues one that sounds more like normal mode than Very Hard, 2nd of all I'm lactose intolerant and can't have much cheese
i agree, except on very hard difficulty the chance of star enemies is quite significant during the day as well
yea 480 damage seekers go brrrr
about the last part, cheese is the key word, why would i increase combat difficulty and than cheese enemies?
Can you even parry that damage at that point
nope
480 for 2 star or just normal?
exactly why I've banned atgeir and bow on this run. But magic sounds too fun to completely pass up
You'd have to like roll everytime
2 star
Starred enemies are pretty impossible to parry and same for most brutes (golem, troll, etc.). Regular enemies are alright
you can parry nonstar enemies, but stars are out of options
I walk around seekers in circles since their attacks are kind of linear
could be tough though if one or two hits is death and you can't see much
Plus I'm playing on no map and hardcore death penalty so dying and losing everything or getting lost in the mist are concerns
yeah, its good option, but on very hard they are also 20% faster, so without possibilty to see its not a joke
Yeah at that point 3x hp, tank armor and potions on hotkeys are mandatory
Wdym 20% faster, they're faster too on hard diff?
10% on hard
the difference is very good balanced, devs made a great job on those settings
yeah, you dont have guiding points even with wisp light on, nor without 🙂
Once I get wisps at least I can make wisp torch paths
my only gripe is that parrying is a bit tooooo rough
I'll say though at first Very Hard felt very unbalanced to me but after taking some time on Hard and then upgrading to Very Hard I've started to learn the moves, strats, and progression skips necessary to have a good time and not die
In dungeons that's pretty good. Above ground though I'm not sure I'd wanna strand myself with no stamina as several starred enemies close in. Even with that stuff on you're gonna end up dying in a few hits
I'll say though plains swamp and mistlands are pretty mangeable with a root chest. Basically downgrades all the most dangerous/annoying enemies to normal difficulty damage
yes, same. its very hard difficulty, you should feel that way 🙂
I'll say 3x hp food and sometimes skipping ahead a biome for food progression let's you succeed on some otherwise dicey parries
On very hard, im too scared to try parry anything 😂
yeah, cant blame you about that, but i m crazy, have to try all the pain 😄
Permadeath/Very Hard changes the mindset a bit tho
yeah, thats why i dont play permadeath
Maybe spend an hour at elder leveling up block
anyway, i m off, hf guys
if you drain a tar pit, with growths still spawn there?
Vanilla -> hard -> Cheesy
Man I love permadeath. Although right now I’m playing hardcore bc there’s some other tough settings and it feels like a relief
Yeah, im a big fan of it too, although, after playing alot of WoW lately, and coming back to a fresh permadeath start, i feel so rusty
I’ve had a lot of ended permadeath runs but got a good very hard permadeath run past Moder now
I spent 6 hours gathering materials to build a base/building, to them fall out the 3rd story of my house with no food on 😂
This is the way
Had to put it on pause to play a server with friends and the all the worst world modifiers
Always eat 😭
- i was in silver armor
- i think so
- it was a 2 star
i kinda just stopped upgrading my armor past tiering up, since it doesn't matter if they hit like, 300 damage or 5 million
Yea sometimes armor doesn’t matter much. But against non starred enemies you can often tank a hit or two
I like the mobility of light armors to help avoid attacks sometimes over trying to tank them
yeah same
I really like that they're (per latest steam release) ||using stones to give weapons enhancements||, this is a very myth type of handling for it, using something so in line with legends makes me happy.
It’s become pretty popular in games and movies too
I don’t know
Ashland released or not ?
estimated a month for ptb, a bit over for full release
Def confirmed for the first half of the year so anywhere from next month to june
Kk
PTB is for early testing, so it'll be buggy, and idk if consoles can do it so
The real question for me is when to leave the server to avoid Ashlands spoilers
Prob a year ago
Don’t dev posts on steam also spoiler Ashland from time to time
Ye steam and YouTube I believe
Thankfully if you don’t read too much, the thumbnails don’t say anything
yo, does anyone have any modpacks theyd recommend for my first time modding the game?
anyone have experience with warfare mod?
i just unlocked bunch of crossbows but cant craft any
Steam dev blogs yes
I am very exited for the Ashlands update. Did they say something about the release date?
Nope.
First half of 2024
When do you anticipate the game will be completed? 2025?
Morning gjall!
Pizza for breakfast?
Nope, but we'll have a pizza-buffet for lunch at work.
can i change back the difficulty slider once a world is made?
pretty sure you can change most settings on a existing world
i know for a fact you can change the resource multiplyer anytime you want
im not 100% sure on the other sliders but i believe you can change them anytime you want
Has anyone seen a friendly greydwarf? There’s a friendly greydwarf swapped around my house😳
"swapped around"?
He just chilling? Maybe he wants some food
Good Morning 😉 Are there professional chicken breeder here? I don't know why 2/6 eggs are warm and 4/6 are to cold...

TFIF
Modded?
no
I’m not sure what happened…just came out one day
are you playing solo or with some friends?
Solo
then i really don´t know what happened, you are not able to tame greydwrafs withoud mods
Xbox might not do that.. looks strange
can you grow carots turnips and onions on the mountain?
No
You can grow nothing on the mountains other than icicles 😂
Mistlands foods only grow in mistlands, plains foods only grown in the plains, Black Forest, swamps, and mountains foods grown in plains, Black Forest, and meadows
how high up can you fly into the sky?
Try and throw it some food
Berry or mushrooms?
Ah nvm I see the chat, I think that's just a bug that happens very rarely
Hi all
Hello there.
Hello everyone! I was wondering what are you doing when you get bored in valheim, to make it less boring and interesting again?
Simple, we go again.
A few ways, although honestly I never really get bored. Occasionally another game takes over my time for a while, but I tend to come back to Valheim sooner or later. But some things that can shake it up a bit:
- New world, with new character
- World modifiers. Best addition evah!
- Personal mini-challenges. Like beating the game not using a specific weapon, no portals/no map modifier, not touching the ground, pacifist challenge (there's a youtube video...) etc etc.
Greydwarves are scared of fire so if they’re in the base they’ll just be wandering around actively trying to get away from the fire so they won’t attack
Personally, in my current playthrough I've decided to explore the entire world - not going to leave a single speck of map fog (other than Ashlands and Far North of course until they are released.)
Hmmmmm I shoukd start progressing aswell, im just planting atm filling up every finewood chest with 1 kind of food xD like carrots 1 chesr xD
wow, that is pretty ambitious ahaha
takes some patience definitelym, I'd like to do that but I don't know if I have the will to do so xD
Mistlands will be a nightmare, has so much landmass and moving long distances in mistlands is generally unhealthy. Pocket portal ftw...
If your screenshots are Valheim related you're welcome to use the #screenshots channel for sharing them 👍
just make sure to have your discussions of said screenshots in either this channel or #general
Oh, that’s just weird - no idea what’s happened there
oh god not that raid
Mweheheheheeee.
had too many of those
When your friend rushes through a portal half way across the map into the mistlands to rename it just to get butchered the moment he goes through and gets the portal destroyed...
maybe the portal shouldve been better protected ina biome such as the mistlands
Yuh
invest in a boat
Real men swim
real men don't swim 300+ iron back home
Smart men invest in a boat.
If we were smart we would be in Midgard still or Valhalla
You don't have to be smart to end up in Valhalla.
Just have to have lived a life in Odin's Honour.
makes a raft and flips off Odin
The wrath of Odin is upon you
We are in Valheim as a punishment anyway. If we can kill the bosses, bonus, otherwise eventually we become draugr and our builds become ruins for the next sap, I mean warrior
hi friends. i have a question: i keep getting "errors" when trying to place crystals. we want to make a winter garden type of situation, where two walls are crystal glass. but i can only manage one, maybe two rows on top of each other, before they turn red.
is there a trick to this? or is my game being a lil stinky?
Oh... if the ruins were of the same level as the buildings of the players, it would be very cool, but...
We're not here as a punishment, no.
You don’t pay my sub 😂
I do find it funny how people have carved rune stones about lessons they learned here, but where are they? The bosses are here, so they didn’t go to Valhalla. They must be draugr
Iirc crystal walls can't be placed by themselves for more than two rows, they need extra support
so a row of support beams in between would be needed?
Aye
you can use horizontal item stands inbetween as almost invisible structure to make it bigger
'Know, traveler, that while you cannot die in the world of Valheim, yet you can cease to be reborn. Many are those who have come before you to work the will of Odin, only to find their own will failing...'
And then become draugr
No, just not be reborn, as it says. The draugr are remnants of the original inhabitants of Valheim.
'Odin leveled their cities and Loki consumed their mines in fire. Mighty Thor broke down their towers and Freya sowed their fields with salt tears. Now they are sunk many hundred of years deep. No song sing of their stories, and the earth has claimed their cities. But pride cannot be killed entirely and the warriors who fought in that final battle will not surrender until their bodies are dust and the dust long gone. They return as Draugr, unholy walkers in ancient armour, creatures of rust and despair. Break them, bury them, let them know they are dead."'
Purgatory is mentioned here. I'm also not sure our buddy Ulf made it out
What's your perspective of this passage
My perspective? It's not really open for debate. It's clear that eventually after years of failing to defeat the Forsaken previous Vikings sent to Valheim simply give up and stop 'respawning'.
We don't get a choice. We just keep respawning. Unless we just quit spooling up the game
Hang on, are we talking gameplay or lore now, those are two different things.
I think gameplay is complicating the lore. For me at least
@frozen void @odd helm thank you 🥰
It sounds like it's meant to integrate the two, tbh
The lore of the game interprets players that log out forever as Vikings who've given up on their quest and lost their immortality privileges
Yeah, that makes sense.
Agreed. Thanks for that
You can also use iron grates, which look pretty nice in the crystal planes!
There is actually a bit of lore that one Viking lost 2 of his friends to this due to one dying after a tree fell on him (rage quit) and the other died by sea serpent (also, rage quit)
Bro that must be a skill issue for them fr
This is probably a repetitive question, but Ive looked online and haven't found anything. We haven't recieved a date yet as to when Ashlands comes out have we? Just making sure
Still the first half of 2024.
thank you
google query: "valheim when ashlands"
First response: The next major update scheduled for Valheim is expected to give the Ashlands biome an extreme rework. Just recently, the Ashlands update for Valheim confirmed a release window for the first half of 2024
Why would you send someone AWAY from the official server to Google for an answer we all know?
it would have been funny if the Ashlands were released on Ash Wednesday
Well, for the 30% of the population who are that fussed about Ash Wednesday.
He searched the net and couldn't find an answer.
I searched the net and found the answer in the first few seconds.
So he came here for the answer and you sent him away again?
I wonder if we'll get boomsticks in ashlands.
well maybe he's using a different browser
like bing or something else out of hell
Either he didn't search or did it poorly and I was confirming that first half of the year.
Not sending away.
Don't you think the last two bosses are a little(actually very) difficult?
They are a step up from the former bosses, yes.
With planning and preparation certainly doable.
yagluth is run away simulator in singleplayer and queen is magic tutorial
it sounds easy but isn't that easy it's just very important to stay focused and not make any mistakes
at least that's how i remember it
Hey just to let you know, The Bees Are Happy💯😬😊

Like any game it's pattern and cue recognition. Attack animations and timing in this case
Distress signal recieved... My longboat has been hit harder than a pinata at a toddler's birthday party, and I'm clinging to the sides like a koala to a eucalyptus leaf during a bush fire, however, I'm on my way...
My estimated time of arrival is 13 hours the currents are looking bad! But don't fret, I'm not some landlubber , more like a barnacle stuck to a rescue boat with a heart of gold (and a slight case of seasickness). I'm hauling ass, faster than a dolphin escaping a sharknado.
Derek and other people chatting about Valheim's Ashlands Update.. discord keeps spamming me with this for 2 days already, and only specifically with Derek there😄
@vocal rivet please stop discussing the update:))
"I'm hauling ass," like a door to door rump roast salesman
Sorry, what?
AI thinks you initiate these discussions i think
The message wasnt originally for this channel, but I decided to leave it. We have a few sailors who have Shipp wrecked and need assistance, but I'm at work and so is my crew lol
I've barely mentioned it. And only talk about it when someone else brings it up.
I can send you screenshots
See gjall somewhen monday probably.
At least you aren't getting shit like this XD
That's the funny part for me
You really don't have to. Just please don't tell me what I can and can't discuss.
just supress highlights in server notifications
I wish I was in on these pixie trauma convos.
I would never even start thinking about that
I like to keep them on because of my above message lol. The AI is so screwed up sometimes.
It makes for good laughs
It's as if discord knows most of us mute servers due to, insatiable pinging. Yet they want to draw us back with these bypasses.
Speaking of screwed up AI, I missed this one. Feckin meat bicycles

Beat Moder with a Frostner and huntsman bow, didn’t even take 20 minutes!
I hear Splosions
With ice arrows?)
meat bicycles when?
I didn’t want to torture myself that much, just obsidian arrows lol
I want to know when I can ride a berserker into battle
Got absolutely destroyed by a 2 star berserker lol. Thought I could block him…
Doh... yeah. They're very scary. They don't even stagger from a single blackmetal atgeir spin.
Gotta do it multiple times, even on normal difficulty
That is self-confidence worth envying
Agreed. Can Berserks receive shaman bubble
Walkthrough 3 was great to watch. Sad to hear there wont be a 4th.
I way underestimated him lol. Maybe I’ll try a ranged option next time lol.
Think of it this way- maybe there won’t be another because the update is fairly close?
Splosions
I imagine on a harder difficulty, they are absolute monsters
I'm not looking forward to finding out on hardcore
frost arrows
It's called a ||Lox|| 🤣
PTB releasing for March break would be absolutely incredible but again, cope-levels of hopefulness
What March break?
school probably
i would suspect it coming out in around 4 weeks, just my theory tho
to my knowledge there is no break before eastern
depends on the country
Easter is March 31st this year
close enough to april in my eyes
imagine it coming out on april fools, and if they also make april fools you'll have to explore ashlands as a deer
what was last year's april fool's here? i dont remember
Just do a search … oh. Nvm
oh i found it lol
👀
i totally forgot about this 😂
Haven they had a non-deer april's fool thing yet?
no, first two were playable deer, then the third was the one above
first one was just character creation screen, second was gameplay
i had to scroll a lot
FEAUTERS
literally unplayable
The game needs more feauters, tbh.
its like feathers, but different
The features that flew away
Mace or Axe better against wolfs?
doesnt matter
I'd actually say mace, it has a faster attack, on par with swords. Axes are utility, and you can use them as weapons, but they are slower DPS and just general usage.
Valheim is a cool game
it is
is it better to damage modar with an iron axe or frostner?
iron axe probably
k ty
she's immune to frost damage
im in the middle of a battle
and spirit damage
I just beat her last night using Frostner and huntsman bow, you got this!
that's only notable if the enemy isnt immune tbh lol
(Not recommended though)
can i somehow get the drakes away??? they are ruining my whole battle
kill them
Shoot ‘em’ down
Anyone have a favorite 2 handed weapon?

my bow broke
gotta be the demolisher
eh I think it's important to mention when deciding on a weapon for her especially if someone is asking since they might not know. Only having 1 of the 3 damage types on a weapon do damage is an oof
you probably wanna repair it then instead of continuing the fight with a broken bow
Might be time for a tactical retreat
go hands on!
but the modar will heal, and it has only this much healt
Respect, same honestly
i cant paste it but like one seventh
she heals while you're there too, she'll heal less thefaster you can shoot her again
Could just whittle away at her with a melee weapon. Took me almost twenty minutes.
She won't heal much if you have a nearby portal to go repair your bow and come right back. But melee is always fun
Is your gear maxed out?
all level 3 except armor
What bow are you using?
Gotcha. So you’ve only done about a seventh of health in damage, your bow is broken, and you have a level 3 Frostner? Frostner will probably break
Ahhh sorry, misunderstood. You can probably wrap it up with Frostner then.
or iron axe if you have that
I cant hit the moder because of drakes :Dd
Might be time for a retreat then
nah, i got this
Drakes will be annoying for sure lol but I believe in you
protip tho: Won't have your bow break if you just don't use a bow in the first place 😎
Bow too good to pass up though
Best part about weapon upgrades is the increased durability. Super useful.
Is Obsidian marked if i target it?
ong im dead, im stuck between a wolf and a fenring, there is moder in front of me and from the side comes drake bullets.
we just entered first time ice mountains and instantly got raided by wolfs xD
The full mountain experience lol
i dont know whats more annoying, swamp or mountains
I find the swamp to be slightly more tedious, but that’s just opinion. I like traversing mountains, but yeah they can be difficult. Are you packing meads?
nah, im fully naked rn
Yes, obsidian is labeled when you look at it like copper ore, etc.
Backup armor? 👀
nah
Ah, bummer. Hopefully the retrieval goes fast and smooth then.
We need an Odin option next. You cannot manually travel or interact with the world, you may only randomly stalk players from afar.
Unflinching.
Friends are free to shove you to your destination.
when ashlands will be released?
The topic in #general says first half 2024. So sometime before the end of June.
SPECULITIVELY they're done with the walk and talks to my guess is PTB is in a month, full release a little longer after
We'd prefer no guessing of dates here at all 😉 They have a bad habit of turning from a guess to a rumor to fact, and then everyone ends up getting upset for no reason.
true enough, happened in a different discord i was in
id rather they take there time and make it good
not to spoil anything, but imo, i'd say they did
well its the decision of each person if they want to see the "spoilers" in devblogs, you don´t have to look at them so i wouldn´t really say they spoiled that much 😄
im excited
What should i do with my first 30 silver?
I'd suggest a wolf or lox cape, or a wolf chest. All of them will give you cold resist so you don't need potions.
lox cape best cape
Wolf cape looks best imo but Lox still looks pretty snazzy and is cheaper
Until you get some eitr...
feather cape overated (although it is indeed good)
I always aim for a lox cape as my first one, it's a bit of a biome skip but it's the most efficient as for use of silver
I never fought any Lox before
- stand on a rock
- get 300 arrows
- be patient
you don't necessarily have to fight. You can tame them!
Lox cape LOOKS better. Or would, if it wasn't such a dinghy brown
They're in the plains, the next biome. If you know how to handle them they're not too bad, but they can be a bit of a tough customer if you're not aware of how they behave.
Still need to find plains 🙂
You'll probably come across plenty as you are finding mountains. Make sure you explore the frost caves 😉
They got also silver chests, like Iron in Kryptas?
Nope. Gotta get silver through other means
How many lox hides/leather do i need for that cape?
6, so at default settings I think you need to kill at least 3 lox
honestly if you're new and you haven't been to plains before might be better to go for wolf cape. There are some other very dangerous creatures roaming the plains
I'd put wolf chest up top since that's a pretty big armor upgrade, as awesome as the wolf cape looks.
the scariest is deathsquito....
yea. Deathsquito is a huge noobkiller
I actually met those in swamps, guess there was a lil piece of plains somewhere between
Got me quite a bit at the start while fooling around with friends
one shotted me xD
The worst part of those when you accidently swimming near plains and deathsquito decides to pay a visit
Well sailing yea. I wouldn't recommend swimming around plains
sailing, right. my bad
Deathsquitoes have ended 1 or 2 permadeath runs for me while sailing 😭
What about weapons? anything specific good with silver ingots?
frostner
Frostner is a fan favorite. To unlock it you need to also buy Ymir flesh from Haldor though. Silver sword is popular too. But pretty much all weapons in the game are great!
frostner is bad for many enemies in mountains, but good in swamp, and next two biomes
Frostner for blunt, spirit and cold dmg?
I like the spear in mountains but I feel alotta ppl hate spears
also for insane knockback if you want to keep those fulings away from you
Sounds good, ive to test that
Frostner also has a stagger build up that everyone forgets to mention when it gives double damage consistently.
nice
Well yeah but due to its insane knockback you probably won't have enough time to run to staggered enemy for extra dmg
at least i rarely manage to do so when i hit fulings with frostner
You'll learn how to pick where to fight. Usually I relocate until I find a nice slope/rock/tree to push everything up against. No reason to engage if I can safely walk somewhere else while the AI pretends to be smart.
I am glad now i kept all most of the gold 😄
You'll go broke trying to complete the fishing hat. Don't worry.
Fishing hat isn't hard money-wise... hardest part is getting all the damn trophies for all the bait you need
Frostner replacing the Mace, right?
technically it's "club" skill I think but works similar to mace
Supplements. Iron mace is still very useful, but the Frostner is top-tier for both the Plains and the Mistlands ahead of you. Frostner is less than ideal against Golems, Drakes or Moder though.
Spoiler, you will actually get frostner v2.0 in the mistlands
having slash dmg instead of blunt
Worse imo without the stagger
But no multi-target penalties. It's a tradeoff.
swords don't get multi target penalty?
Nope! That's one of their best features.
swords can also stagger tho
Is Frostner as fast as Iron Mace?
Yes. All one-handed clubs have the same attack speeds.
It's actually identical to the sword speeds, but different movements
hmmm I'm starting to see why swords are favored. Still not that great a bonus since I believe it doesn't have the best reach. A battleaxe or atgeir would still be better for multi target damage?
Possibly, but an atgeir uses a ton of stamina for each spin, whereas the sword just keeps hacking. Honestly, the majority of this stuff is all situational, there is no super-clear "one ring" type weapon in Valheim, except maybe the fire staff.
Firestaff needs to do self-damage now. Make you regret using it in melee against that greyling
Hmm I feel like a large group of melee enemies to attack is a fairly specific situation
but like I was saying earlier, the only thing you can use in every situation is situational awareness and knowing how to use terrain against the enemy. Weapons are fun and all but breaking pathing every second to regenerate stamina is OPAF.
How is the Frostner against cold immune mobs?
Lol depends if they're blunt immune at that point. Honestly you'll want an alternative weapon or two in your kit.
Terrible. It's only got 30 blunt damage, all the rest of its damage is frost. That's why I said it's not a straight replacement for the iron mace (which is 73 blunt at max upgrade level)
What about the spirit dmg?
Personally I like spears because arrows are ultra heavy. Handles drakes and other fliers really easily while being a rapid-fire thown-then-picked-up machine gun in melee range.
yea I've been trying to ban OP stuff like that from my current run
spirit only works on a few mobs, mostly undead or werewolves
I like spears bc I feel like bows are the only other alternative and bows are just broken
mostly everything is immune to spirit sadly. I'm hopeful the undead in ashlands aren't immune.
Largely something to ignore. The majority of enemies are immune to spirit, and anything that takes damage from it is either super weak or a Swamp creature, so not super dangerous anyway. Only big exception is the Plains boss 😉
spirit is extra damage, the rest of the damage equals out to other weapons on the same tier
For now :)
Can't wait until I can actually use a Spinesnap usefully 😛
first time i read valheim patch notes and the discord server incident happend, so sad to hear this
It's all good. We're back better than ever 😉 Just be wary about opening anything you get from Discord.
I wasn't an active member but I would browse the building channel to see people's works as well as the tips channel being a new player
but glad to see everyone working to get it back up again
Does valhiem support other languages?
Wasn't an active member but i became active once i heard full volume notifications in my headset while casually playing games
yes, maybe not every language but yes
there's over 20 different languages at least 50% translated, either through community or official
yeah but it unfortunately doesn't support whatever language greylings are always grumbling in around my base
They are still just trying to figure it out by themselves
I'd love to pick the Valheims team brain about Unity branching strategies. Something I've been struggling with is branching off to do big things (like adding a biome or other big feature) while having parallel development fixing bugs and keeping those things in sync.
In pure c# projects this hasn't been a problem but betweeen assets and the way Unity stores data, my usual bag of tricks is proving insufficient.
constantly whacking the nearest stone structure
first words in their language to start building everything else around it would be: "excuse me sir, what are doing right now" and "fire!"
There is no silver pick axe, right?
swamp needs a facelift tbh
Thats Mistlands?
yea
Any good ideas for what to have in a great hall (as decoration/filling) if I already have a big enough long table for a big party but still have half the room empty?
man the arbalest is so fun
Hearth?
i thought arbalest was slow but then i remembered that a bow spends both stamina and time to aim
so arbalest is better
put all your gold into it? 😄
crystal wall any good?
as a window
Have a treasury for that 😄
I have tried to use it to keep fish from jumping out of the pond. Still need to make it higher, they jump insanely high
Would be funny if the crystal wall secretly was like indistructable, but nobody finds out because it looks so brittle
I never know wich weapons i should bring. For Swamps the Mace was pretty good couse of fast att speed and weakness, now i got to Frostner too. Are there like 2 weapons + bow, wich cover all those weaknesses?
I got Axe, Frostner and Bow atm
Frostner is op, it cleans up even mistlands
Am i supposed to max. Frostner?
The iron mace is pretty good in the mountains as well, it's my primary weapon because the golems are immune to frost and resist all types of damage except blunt
I stuck to axe as my main weapon, but only because it looks viking cool and can cut trees 😅
I am using Pickaxe for Golems 😄
That’s what I do every time
Frostner is good to max after the mountains, but it's not critical to front-load upgrading it
Roll forward into a golem as it attacks to avoid damage, uppercut with the mace and it'll stun it, then you can dismantle it. Pickaxe is effective, but it is super janky to use and takes forever
Good to know.
thats what ive been doing until swamps
but i kinda liked the increased att speed of mace, compared to axe
and the effectiveness to those poison jellys xD
I also always thought that skill level did a lot, so I didn't want to switch skill type
I just wish i didn't buy extra ymir meat, couse i thought the upgrades gonna costs some
now ive 15 ymir meat left, no clue what to do with that
Iron sledge! Hehe. But yeah, there's not much currently to do with it other than Frostner and Iron Sledge. Hopefully something in the Ashlands we can use it for.
Sorry i need to rant: isn't it annoying when you continue someone else's build, and they didn't stick to the snapping grid? I always try to do so..
It can be, depending. I will do it intentionally sometimes to achieve an effect I want, but not for most major things. I have seen people make cool pyramid and domed type structures by offsetting stone pieces as they build up
I try to keep our entire base into the same grid, so stuff lines up when you come back around no matter how far you build. But then my friend was the one making the main castle, and that one is all over the place with weird angles and shapes
Guys how can someone carry loxes across the sea,can they fit on ships?
Ahhh. Does it look cool? 😉 Valheim gets interesting when you are not doing square box builds. Gotta start talking to my man Pythagoras and all 😛 But there can be pretty fun and interesting builds you can do with circular things. I still snap the pieces, but they aren't always in a bigger "grid" that can be connected to other buildings or anything.
Very carefully. You can put a saddle on them too, and they swim pretty far before running out of stamina, as well as having quite a bit of health after that. But there's no real easy way to just ship them anywhere.
You can have them on the biggest ship, we did that once. They do give damage to the ship, so be ready to stop and repair it. Also make sure to not sail close to enemies that can trigger it, or it jumps over board.
What if a serpent attacks it
With Frostner i feel more like Thor, guess that look is pretty close to a Viking 😛
Did you know frostner gives off a frost effect when you mount it on the wall?
looks cool, litteraly
didnt know 😮
Swamp Keys and Dvergr Circlets (either on item mounts or armor stands) are also great for lighting and cool effects
Surtling trophies, too
yeah recently learned about the surtling trophies, put some up today
they give the fire effect 😄 love it 🔥
For fashion I like the plains armor with great axe, looks like an actual medieval viking, or with the blackmetal axe and red padded shield
yellow mushrooms give very faint light, we have a whole bunch of those as guiding lights
Fenris set is the peak of fashion and utility 😛
Day 1702 😅 I wonder what to do to celebrate day 2024
so me, my wife and my son took our first trips to the swamp today
Story time! 😍
Well I've been to the swamps before, they havent
we found our first crypt and got a fair whack of iron, but was a 2 trip job. Then on the 2nd trip I may have accidentally on purpose found an abomination
which had an abomination friend nearby
so we fought 2 abominations
then on our 3rd trip me and my wife forgot to take our poison resist potions and died in a slow inevitable fashion
and now we are in our 2nd crypt
and then my laptop blue screened so we are taking a 5 min break (I'm host)
Hello everyone ☺️
it was a blue screen instant restart thankfully
so no dramas
my laptop is probably feeling the stress of my having played 60 hours of rdr2 this week
I’m on Xbox and looking for some new people to play with/new servers to join. 😄
I am doing a play through solo and with one of my cousins; but he stopped playing and we were just about to fight Yagluth. So now I’m looking for a new home. 😄
Go check out #1024264966712340510 😉
(lfg=looking for group)
I’m looking them over, but I’m not certain which posts are cross play/on Xbox. 😅
don't ask me, i havent looked at that channel 😅 just pointing people there. Maybe you can make a post yourself? I have no idea what the instructions are
I’ll see if I can find them. 😄
I think I figured it out and now have a post up!
so our next task is to clear out the 2nd crypt and boat back with the iron
does arbalest use the bow skill? or does a crossbow skill unlock after crafting it?
there's a crossbow skill
It makes up for it for having pretty darn high damage output even compared to late game bows with high skill
