The slow creeping nature of the mistlands makes it take waaaaaay longer than any other biome so far. I've spent so long just making and maintaining wisp-light paths through the fog, let alone actually getting into the buggy stuff.

Me and my brother finally got enough iron to make 2 sets of fully upgraded iron armor,2 fully upgraded iron banded shields,one fully and one partially upgraded iron axe.

if you take a hit that deals for example 60 fire damage and 50 blunt damage and let's say you're immune to fire but weak to blunt, then you're gonna take 75 damage but the number will show as grey because the highest value of the attack was something you're immune/very resistant/resistant to.
and yes, this is still the case if that damage type is DoT like fire, i tested that with a torch on the elder (and something else that was neutral or above to blunt but resistant or below to fire, don't remember what that was.)

its not that bad, you still have to do close combat at least. with the fire staff you can just shoot as far as you see with massive damage and no agro radius

I've got a dilemma... After planning to do so for a very long time, I finally took a few hours to build a stairway up to the top of one of the plains rock pillars. Now that I'm up at the top it turned out to be a lot smaller than I had imagined. 😂 So the epic tower I had planned to build up there won't be practical, or it would just look like someone has put an ornate oil drum on a broomhandle... Now I can't decide what to do with it. Right now a more narrow tower with a space for the eitr table up top is closest at hand - or I just put the obliterator up there. Unless the lightning damages the rock?

The obliterator does damage rock, but not a ton. It's fairly easy to repair.

I am having so much fun with it. Taking my time because it is also hardcore mode. Drawing my own map on my iPad, making paths and signs and sometimes little structures to guide me from a distance. Very doable I’d say and I am loving the immersion. It is remarkable how much more attention you pay to your environment without maps and how quickly you remember key features of the land to help you navigate. Not made it to Mistlands yet though. That one does scare me. Will be tough. Especially in hardcore.

Biggest newbie tip I share is prioritize food, it is almost more critical than armor and weapons. Build all the crafting stations and tools, they will help you multiply your effort.

Yeah. It's not super obvious compared to other games, but food isn't to keep you from starving. You can't die from hunger. Food is what provides you with stamina and health, so the better food you have, the more of both you have to work with

Food is so good, you’re gonna love it. It has a yellow, grey or red fork for stamina/balanced/health food. Most people tend to go 2 hp 1 stamina food for survival, or 2 stamina 1 hp if surviving isn’t too hard. Or in between with the grey foods that do equal stamina and hp

There are ways to reset that area on your save, even before the next update, but it requires mods and a bit of trust on your end.
Not advised if you haven't touched Ashlands, yet, but could be your only option for a fully explored map you want to keep playing on.

I know there were 1 or 2 fist weapons last I played but wasn't sure if its finally a fleshed out combat method yet

unarmed kicks are pretty good for spacing skeletons 1v1 when you're starting out, the pushback leaves you out of their attack range and you can abuse it to stagger them
but yeah you dont get a fist weapon until mountain biome.
your bare fists do minimal damage unless theyre weak to blunt, so at that point i just use stagbreaker for everything

Default is you drop your gear and lose 5% skills. Raise it and it'll do stuff like DELETING all gear but the armor equipped and the tools in your hands and delete like 7.5% of your skills, reaise it even more it'll reset you to 0 on all skills and delete everything you had on you

I'm seeing things where it's been suggested for over 3 years. Resin is a historically accurate way vikings would protect wood, especially for under boats to protect against water damage. You get tons of resin in game over time. It has like.. almost no uses. Why can't you just slap a piece of resin on a block to protect it from being damaged by weather?

Is it a limitation of the game? Can't imagine how.. Is it to reduce lag? I can imagine a scenario where ticks constantly checking each piece of wood during weathering to see if it's damaged can become laggy.. Considering it already spends a LOT of time on structure integrity calculations that might explain it but even so.. why even have weathering at all in that case?

Asking since I have an old, old world from release that I'd like to start over with - but if I load the seed in the world generator it is different to how the map is in-game. Pretty much, I think. It might take some skills or upgrades, I don't have the full boundaries mapped out, but I know with my upgraded mace they do. Iron mace is the highest one-handed blunt damage in the game, actually.

They are sensitive to pickaxe, but the pickaxe itself is a very awkward weapon. With the mace you can still have a shield

It is very weak to pickaxe damage (only mob in the game weak to it) so not a bad thought! Pickaxes do have terrible damage in general tho so Mace ends up the champion (they're kinda weak to blunt)
