it came back the day it happened i think if not right after
val heim
oh hey server is back

why the fuck did i glitch through the floor in the queen fight and now im falling for eternity
O.o, you may have found the Queen's escape route for when she manages to get out
technically not eternity. dungeons are just waaaay up in the sky.
unequipping the feather cape would help you get down faster....just not safely. wouldn't recommend doing that if you have less than 100 max hp.
Mornin Gjall 😄
is it difficult to put it back on in time?
Not really not
It’s a LOOOOONG way up.
how much farther up are they, compared to yggdrasil 🤔
i think the dungeon interior is about 5000 meters above the dungeon entrance.
the lowest part of yggdrasil's branch that's still above valheim is iirc around Y 1000, no idea how high the highest is, but definitely below the dungeon interiors still.
Outside of multiplayer, are there any situations you all use tower shields?
Only now trying out the hildr dungeons. 1 star ghosts feel weird but i luv it
Nope (I mean they're good if you wanna farm block skill somewhere but otherwise meh)
What about ping?
idk. I've only ever played with a couple friends and never had ping be an issue with them
Just truly trying out the flesh rippers now and tbh they're not that bad. I always just looked at their stats and was like "meh" but they got some unique properties and I kinda like them. Only sad thing is the block seems quite suckish
I need to try them as well but I'm too preoccupied reworking my base
I just found out that they have a 2 hit combo unlike basically every other weapon that has a 3 hit combo
so every other hit you get 3x the regular damage
Second hit does more dmg I assume? very nice
On a parry tho they get 40 something block armor tho, compared to my silver shield that gets 120ish :/
Seems like they're meant for that high speed evasive backstabbing gameplay tho, not tanking hits to the ~~face ~~ shield
Ah yeah I wondered if you had 100 block how well they'd carry into end game but that's unfortunate
Does parrying increase block armor at all or does it just run off of the base block armor stat?
Everything has a "block armor" stat. So whenever you block, it basically just means your armor to tank that hit is your regular armor (from helmet, chest, pants, cape) + the block armor of the shield or weapon you are using. If you parry, the block armor on the shield/weapon gets multiplied by a certain number. For shields parrying typically multiplies block armor by 3, on flesh rippers it multiplies by 6
But flesh rippers have so low starting block armor that even though it gets increased to SIX TIMES its usual value, it's still barely anything
Always
You have 3 stat sets to keep in mind for shields:
Block force - knockback
Block armor - damage reduction
Parry - block force multiplier
Tower shields excess at having high base block armor (no parry required) and high block force - nice for crowds
Buckler shields rely on parrying to be useful, as their block armor is pitiful, and have no block force to speak of.
However, their parry bonus is magnificent, and makes their block armor better than the respective tower shield of the same tier.
BUT, if you don’t parry properly, you are going to take large chunks of damage
Hence I like tower shields 🛡
Does stamina play a role in if you sucessfully parry or get hit
Yup
You need enough stamina to block the hit
The more block skill you have the less stamina you need to block
they are not based to use for block/parry, but if you have fist skills high enough, you can stagger any no star creature in the game with the kick
Right on I figured, I use a bow nearly all the time but recently my buddy has been getting messed up and wasn't sure why he was getting hit when it should have been a parry
Are flesh rippers the only fist weapons?
For now 🙃
Soon™️
You will normally hear a PING sound of metal on metal when you parry.
If you parry without enough stamina then you should hear a PANG sort of sound - it’s distinctly off putting and tell you that you have made a mistake 😂
As if the massive drop of your health isn’t enough of an indicator 🙈
Hey, so yall think the northern biome will be the last one before full release?
I’d like to imagine it to be released in December 2026
We don't think, we know. That's not speculation
Omg its viking keanu!
But ye, theyre taking their sweeeeeeeeeeet time... v1.0 in 2030 i guess
when vc?
2026* max
2025 if realistic
anyone else keep getting kicked from the server after some time because you don't really write in chat? I mean I guess that's why I keep getting kicked 😅
from ingame server or from discord? 😄
From discord
um
we did have a hacker incident a few days ago that kicked 1000's of people due to inactivity
they activated a command called "prune inactive members"
oh i see, but it's not the first time
but they set it to "people who haven't written in 24 hours" and then just click the button alot of time
ahhh
Ty for answering ^^ Idk, it happend a while back too or I might be thinking of another server but I'm pretty sure it was this one
This discord server don't kick people for inactivity
Okay that's good to know at least ^^ Then it probably was another server
could be 🤔
you can always send us a email if you have problems with the discord server and we can investigate
but as far as I can see. you only joined 2 times
Ahh, then it was somewhere else
Would be poor business practice
yea i was thinking that too but i thought maybe mods would kick people or something xD
not unless they break rules 😄
Sometimes mods can be subjective in their approach
Are there a lot of spears in Valheim?
yes
Five
Nice
However many you decide to make
the PANG of shame.
I used to to be a warrior like you... now I wield Atgeir.
The reach, the sweeps... what is there to not love?
Basically one per biome
Flint, bronze, iron, wolf fang and carapace
Only missing the plains biome.
I've always been the melee rube of my group and now I'm mad bc why didn't anybody tell me the staff of frost was the most fun weapon in the game
Probably bc fun is subjective and not everyone will tell you the exact same thing about whether something is fun or not
🤓
pewpewpewpewpewpew :D
at what blood and/or elemental magic level do yall think it's viable to do E/H/S food instead of E/E/S
although I guess you would never really need to bc at higher blood magic levels your bubble gets more powerful too so who needs a health pool
E/S/S might be nice for mobility tho
Need at least one H
Still go EHS even at 60+. 7 points of bubble per level iirc and an H food with a high hp/tick goes a long way to spamming bubbles.
I only use bubbles and fireballs. The other staves aren't worth the materials invested.
that is true, I didn't even think about the hp/tick
Is the Frostner good for plains?
i would say yes. but if its the best choice idk
it's pretty good everywhere
as long as a mountain biome is spawning wolf packs at night, any of those wolves can be starred, correct? the biome doesn't have to be a certain size or distance from center or anything?
afaik thats correct
alright, just trying to make sure i'm not wasting time camping for a 2-star night after night. finally bagged a 1-star that i'm taming now.
at least i encountered a starred wolf near spawn
or should i say i ended up as their food? 😅
Researching this further. It seems any mountain has potential for a 2* wolf to appear.
perfect, thank you.
gonna hoof it back to base with this 1-star dogboy, let him start getting freaky with the rest of the pack and come back with fingers crossed for a 2-star today
we need cats. my cat is side-eyeing me over all these howls.
Jealousy activated lol
Now that we have the amazing game modifiers have people stopped spawn farming? 😛
Nope
need mousepad in stock on merch shop plzz
congrats?
This. It was fun to see the various seeds ppl posted and discussed. Please resurrect the seeds channel 🙏
afaik they are working on it 😊
I second a mousepad
If you screen shot the seed you can technically post in #screenshots
New and improved seeds channel
Funny joke.

Local ISP decided to choke mid-tame. ✌️😐🔫
So we will call it "The seed bank"?
the seed feed
A personal question, if I may. You have a BSc and an SSc. In which area is your PhD?
space trucking
Oh man I was going to say something stupid like, "Social Work" but that works too.
intergalactic logistics are no joke, try hauling a trailer full of livestock through the zorbon nebula without the proper paperwork, see how far that gets you
Holy shit, I hope we never get to the point where we're transporting livestock intergalactically! It's cruel enough across a single body of water.
Valheim logistics should interest you then. Getting iron across the ocean is about as difficult.
lox taming has entered the chat
moving lox across water
moving any tamed animal across water
Are you equally intrigued by the physics behind portals and their inability to transport metallics?
sounds like a nightmare. i'm currently thinking about how to get wolves to the top of plains-pillar base, which is bad enough
I just sailed wolves down to my wife's new base. I hate it. At least they can swim lol.
Use 26° roofs as a ramp rather than stairs
I don't like stairs either, my knee cartilage is pretty much non-existent. What's your point?
Most things behave weird on stairs. It's like back in the day we put stairs facing out around our base to confuse the enemy pathing.
I still do that
I stopped when it didn't stop a troll lol. Tactics updated that day.
If only we had stone roofs.
Create a single entry point headed off by a set of stairs to block mobs
Create a cattle guard out of spaced beams. We can sprint across. Mobs go goofy
Stone stairs are 26° and look pretty decent as a roof
I've used them on the underside as a reinforcement, but not as a roof themselves.
alright wolf is still in the taming pen 🙏 praise eris
Let's gooo
I finally got the mats to make portals
iron atgeir seems a thousnad times more effective than iron mace for killing trolls
trolls are blunt resistant tough skin mf
It is. Because trolls are weak to piercing but resist blunt.
Lmao who use blunt against troll
thats why one troll gives 100 skin pelts
an arrow or spear to trolls head keeps the trolls ... away
deathless hardmode run ended by friggin Moder 😭
She used to be such a pushover on normal
someone know if the discord support can restore my deleted groups?
the hackr that was on my acc deleted 2 server groups that i created
any info on what happened to stab roll? it used to be about 90% consistent about a year ago, and now its ~10% consistent
Sir, this is a Wendy's
I mean #valheim-chat
any word on ashlands?
First half 2024
hey this is the first half of 2024
True
Almost here 👀
was it confirmed? I didnt see any news
So anywhere between Jan to june
It’s part of general channel description but before the hack there was a bot that said it constantly
#general channel description
Is it not also confirmed in Iron Gates recent walk n talk on yt?
We had this last night, and no, apparently it isn't.
Bots got hosed in the hack, but yes, it is officially slated for first half 2024. But that means it could be anywhere between tomorrow and the end of June
still excited
For sure. I'm just setting expectations 😉
if i have a far away farm will the farm actually grow or no? ive had this turnip that hasnt turned to seed and its probably been 2-3 weeks ingame days
like a portal near to farm but im not there unless i want to harvest
yes
so why hasnt it turned to seed still lol
think youll have to wait for a few seconds, thats what happened to mine
It takes ~3 in-game days. Are you sure you didn't plant a turnip seed and you're just staring at the top of a turnip?
Why do trolls randomly disappear from troll caves? I marked one on the map and went back inside only to see that the troll is gone
I don’t think they’re suppose to do that
its turnip alright
now replant them and enjoy an infinite resource of turnips
Sometimes troll caves are just empty... they don't disappear as far as I know, though. Did you look in the cave before marking it?
Yea I did, I specifically marked that one so I could go back and kill it
mustve been hungry and defied the laws of the game
hmm resting effect actually sounds really powerful for boss fights
very
I always keep a fire nearby to sit at before the boss.
That would be rested effect
For resting effect you'd have to stay by the fire and prob have it indoors
It’s really powerful the entire game
Oh resting
+200% health regen +300% stamina regen +300% eitr regen sounds kinda nice ngl
oh yea, its pretty broken
Just build a big house over the altars lol
Well you can’t have resting with enemies nearby
Oh you mean the actual status effects of active comfort. yeah those are nuts. You can get them easily with a hearth in a box.
I'm prob gonna make some mini houses around the boss fights on this hard mode deathless run. Can't have Moder killing me again
Are you deleting the world on death?
what do you need for resting? Just the hearth or do you also need to be sheltered?
And no enemies
Sheltered.
sheltered
sitting next to a fire is enough
I have a comfort tower where I can rain fireballs down on raiders from.
First time I’ve heard a permadeath run not called a permadeath run 😂
yup a campfire is all you need with no enemies near by. you get 8 mins of rested from a comfort level of 1
oh and it has to be burning. no smoking out or rain
tbh I see people saying hardcore and permadeath interchangeably a lot and in valheim hardcore isn't permadeath 😭
and you have to sit if you're not sheltered
I think they’re talking about the resting buff, not the rested buff, they’re different
yea pretty different
yea discussion has been focused around actual resting buff
makes for a neat night when away from home and all you hear is the crackling of the fire on a clear night. super immersive honestly... the sound in this game is done really well.
Yeah can be rested for X minutes, or you can be in the process of obtaining a rested bonus and have massive RESTING bonuses instead. Rather fun but hard to utilize.
Never considered first building a structure around Moder before spawning her. Can she get out? Oh boy that sounds fun.
That’s why people will make sure you don’t call hardcore permadeath
I think the +300% stamina is the main thing. Dodging into a house to refill your stamina bar. I guess the tasty mead is a similar effect tho never really used those
I mean it’s just an argument of semantics
Hardcore is definitely permadeath just not world wipe but its semantics so
Plus you usually are fighting her wet so this level of dedicated cheese might be worth it.
You wouldn’t be able to do a world wipe setting for multiplayer anyway unless they had an option to ban anyone from the server that dies
Honestly resetting skills to 0 is enough.
Why are you fighting Moder wet?
Does Moder not make you wet?
If you get hit by any of her attacks you get frozen for a bit but idea is generally to not get hit
Imo it’s the gear loss that’s the real tragedy skills aren’t that important
Couldn’t of phrased it better myself
Always. Tragedy is the point here.
Also I don't think it's too cheesy just a lil' buff. Very vulnerable to attacks by her. I'm def not gonna build a whole building around her, just some little shacks for recuperating
I'm trying to cut out constant bow cheese / atgeir cheese / break enemy pathfinding cheese from the run tho
It won’t work anyway since you can’t get resting while enemies are nearby
be far enough perhaps?
Eh doesn't seem like that big of an enemy range to me. Just get a bit of distance and then you can get 5 sec of stamina regen in a shack
bosses are slow af or high up in the sky
It's not about far, it's about agro. I think if you can dig a deep enough bunker to hide in and drop agro for a second, you might get it back. I've had enemies walking around outside and be resting.
hmm interesting
I built a trench all the way around the moder spawn 🙂
but then again it could work like beds and just detect enemies.
maybe I should just learn to use tasty meads and use the resting as a total retreat get my health back get back into the fight
I only use resting for raids and spamming magic/arrows defensively. Earthen walls and moats deny a lot of agro so I never really notice if resting disappears or not. I'll have to test it when I play in a bit.
But it didn't let me get rested, just good cover.
I hate earthen walls and moats
Rested is a must have at all times. we've been talking about resting tho (very different sorta similar)
Digging in this game is like my zen activity. I'll hop into a new server and dig out every Elder I can find and build a network of portal'd mole homes.
I tried many other survival, it's just not the same. There's something fun about gathering in Valheim.
its pretty peaceful, the sound of chopping wood, the CLINK CLANK of ores. its just unique.
watch them trees fall like domino
As stated above, the soundscapes are impressive and immersive.
The sound of a stone thrown by a greydwarf hitting your character
hitting your ward through the stone wall
and then i unsheath my blade and began to hunt them down one by one.
the sounds of my wolves getting crits in the night....
nah, imagine seeing the black figures in the mountain at night.
I like how you really want rested, but you're not going to die of starvation if you don't have it.
You're already dead. Food's a luxury now.
lol
boosts morale xD
I'd imagine after 500 years of eternal life without eating anything, a Honey Glazed Chicken would cure any depression.
a pizza wouldve made me feel high
when vc?
When ready.
felt like i made my home a bit too big
so many hot tips here on how to be ambiguous about projects and development - going to try them on my wife, see how long my marriage lasts lets gooooo
Huh?

scrolling the 150+ messages and answers to when Ashlands, when VC, when 'X', etc
its golden stuff don't get me wrong
The answer to Ashlands is the first half of the year. When VC is when Smiffe gets to it, it's NOT a priority.
“Why didn’t you take out the trash? It’s in early access” idk how well that would work
I don't see how this is ambigious. There just isn't an answer right now.
“The dishes will be done when they’re done”
"The back deck will be ready when ready..."
Vague is probably the more accurate term than ambiguous
more golden stuff - debating synonyms
Do you have a point or are you just straight up trolling?
thank you Discord for this daily enlightenment
I'm also confused as to what us, as non-devs, are exactly supposed to say.
i'm data mining and getting caught up on postings
#valheim-chat message
Doesn't seem like confusion to me, boss
people are so entitled lmao. you pay to buy the game in its current state. if its current state isn't one you're happy with then either refund or don't buy. if you want development to move faster, make your own game
Just you wait, I'll demand they delay it longer for more polish.
Maybe take a vacation as a team
would love them to take their time and perfect it.
That's how you know you've played Valheim: infinite patience.
anyone else hoping for a 2h fire axe in ashlands? also a buff to 2h axes
I want another 1h mace
we didn't get one with mistlands and something needs to knock Frostner off its pedestal
well there was a 1h mace in silver age and black metal age
2h axe hasnt been seen since silver age
Why oh why crystal axe do you chop less than Jotan?
I guees ashlands would be still another good place to take your frostner with you..
i should progress more, xD im stuck in silver age trying to make my home LMAO
the problem is the category of 2h slash weapon is shared by greatswords and axes now. they probably didn't give one with mistlands bc of Krom
true, i like 2h sword aswell, but nothing beats 2h axe for me
they need more ways to differentiate axes and swords
imo, they secondary attack of atgeir should have been given to 2h axes instead
hmmm i think its based on the poleaxe technique, correct me if im wrong but i think it looks good. but a pierce weapon spinning... wouldnt that make it slash xD
You poke very fast while spinning.
xD
You spin so fast you pierce the firmament, displacing the fabric of spacetime within the bodily cavities of your victims.
Is there a way to build a bridge with a slope that is cart friendly? Using stairs, they bump and damage.
dont think so, my cart still damages my stone stairs xD
Use very many free-placed stone tiles/stairs.
There was a video of someone making a good one, lemme find it.
Sloped bridge? I'd just hoe the land to be flatter and build a gap bridge across so that enemies can't pathfind over it but you can still take your cart.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdYQ41mD5HY - I think this one is cart-friendly, if it isn't just add more stone blocks to have smaller steps.
SmittySurvival is one of my favourite Valheim building channels. He's got some great stuff.
People still watch Youtube even after they've been caught damaging hardware over adblock?
So, the dead horse of the issue of the penalty for dying has been beaten into a messy stain on the floor, but have the devs ever weighed in? If so, I'd appreciate a link - I'd like to know their thinking before I mod it away.
Have you tried the world modifiers that reduces it/practically removes it?
thanks!
That's a fairly small bridge but the principle works for bigger ones as well, just make it bigger.
Any spear users here?
I use spears until I get my first bow. :p
The guy who won the speed run challenge last autumn used spears almost exclusively.
They hit fast and you can throw them
Yep, spears are the best ... most of the time 🙂
Would it be a good idea to carry two spears?
used it from early to midgame its pretty good
Never tried it. I just go and take my spear back if I throw it
Pretty based tbh
a reserve is good xD
I think I might benefit from using two spears when hunting deer or fighting raids
That way I can kill both deer without one of them running
i wonder, i have a stone main base, should i go for the late game crafting stuff or would it still look good if i just use the ordinary wooden roofs?
could always go for the stone roof, a bit flat but the castle roof is always cool
hmmm dont think thatll work now since its a bit too big xD
on top of that you could place a 1m high wood floor off a stone floor for a more classic look
oooohh ima try taht
wish i had an example but its something i only thought of a day or two ago
You can use the 26° roof pieces, use some floor boards at the top to flatten it for a moment and use 26° roof pieces again for the other side.
Makes it quite easy to use the same setup to build the roof; except you need to extent the top roof over the floor boards to prevent them from showing decay.
Early game you can use the thatch roof, later you may use the shingle roof, which actually gives a slight impression of being "stone".
has anyone else used personal chests for base defense, I recently came up with this idea, am gonna try out someday 🤔 Ballista and the chest sound like a good idea, might try using devcommands later
Do what friend?
Can the ashland biome spawn with all the stuff if i have visited that area before or will it forever be flat?
forever flat so long as youve generated it im afraid
Generated areas stay generated.
Let's say I don't get to the Ashlands before the update releases
When I get there will it generate the new content?
personal chests are like super durable and are targeted by mob, im thinking something like a distraction for mobs
If you haven't been somewhere it's not generated yet. Only where a player has been near is generated, areas players haven't been to aren't made yet and can get new stuff that's added to the world.
Gotcha
I see. Use the chests as bait
How good is the flint knife?
yeah, they're so durable they'll outlast multiple raids prolly, you can just repair occasionally, could prolly be a solution to the harbor protection problem maybe
lemme try this out, I did try to check if mobs prioritized boats over the chest or something, but they didn't. That's all I tried out the other day.
Are Kilns worth building? Or should I keep sacrificing Necks?
Can the be submerged in earth. Leaving just enough exposed to be a target. But still leave the mobs struggling to make contact
Random mob spawns will show up, and terrain might change, but otherwise it wont change, likely
Maybe, but tbh it doesn't matter, I say personal chest coz according to wiki it has like 10k hp and is resistant to most things, I doubt any mobs can really take them out quickly enough
unless they changed something
hmmm, whys the 1x1 stone block expensive xD
when are there going to be voice chats!!??!?!?!1
Yes you're gonna need a lot of coal. Later in the game you can set up coal farms (in swamps)
lack of quntity discount.
Aighty
Setup greydwarf farm, afk and burn trash in obliterator. Ez coal.
What is obliterator
A build for trash disposal basically
Nice
a trashcan
Electric Trashcan
makes a great art deco item in your house.
one of the best starting weapons
How does it compare with the spear?
Knives are good but need actual game skill
Their secondary is very good but easy to miss entirely, so you need to practice
knife is cheaper, takes a bit longer to kill deers
also i recently learned if you pull the lever but keep the storage open until the lightning sound, it cancels
could be useful if you put something useful inside by mistake
Spears are almost as fast but have less range
Unless you throw said spear which can be a complete miss - leaving you unarmed
Define actual game skill
Kilns are 100% worth the effort
Porque no los dos?
with knife you can kill group of deers better than with spears
Timing your attacks, spacing yourself and being aware of your surroundings
Fair enough
You are literally leaping into the air and landing on your enemy with a knife secondary attack
It’s very easy to completely miss what you are trying to hit if you don’t practice
Spears have a hidden mechanic when you miss with them: hitting the ground with the spear is one of the loudest things you can do in the game. Think the agro range of the mining pick. I issue challenges to enemies with my spear at my feet before I fight. Keeps them agro'd to me instead of my tames.
Aighty
Smart
I noticed that as well
as far as i am concerned, so long as you enjoy using a weapon and become more than okay at using it (barring undead specifically) you can use whatever
if you sneaking with knife and execute leap, you still sneaking basicly, so nearby enemies wont run away
hell
i am currently not running any ranged options right now, so i take ooze bombs for the drakes in the mountains
spears are brutal and very touchy when on any incline. That messes me up all the time
Parry with the shield then throw into their face in melee range for double thrown spear damage and an instant pick-up. But I usually bring a mace and a woodcutting axe as backups in case I fight something with pierce resists.
its an effective 2 shot if you let it melt them the full duration
All weapons are good, some weapon types are better or worse against certain enemies.
I recommend testing at least a few different weapons to see which ones you prefer using.
Everything I use I use because I like its special attack.
I wish I liked the fleshrippers
always a gamble of resources if you are solo to be fair, but yea try everything you are interested in and have fun, thats what a game is for
"keep it simple stupid"? is the phrase i believe
bro they are so cool, but not having any prerequisites besides bare knuckles makes them nearly useless
I don't really consider "a gamble of resources" to be much of an issue in a single player game where time doesn't affect anything.
Looking at the creature wiki and analyzing weak, resist, immune. It's quick to find out how frost and fire are effective against a majority of mobs. While slash, pierce, and blunt are near equally resisted across the board. So knowing your target is critical.
I have a pair fully upgraded but I keep them boxed now. I wish the fist weapons had a different special than the bare fists. Kick is nice, but not that nice. I was hoping for a leap or something ferocious.
those stats are relative
Relative to making a proper weapon decision for a biome or mob in question yes
also fandom is the worst possible wiki site available, can we agree there?
I haven't tried all the alternatives so I don't know. :|
there arent any anymore because fandom muscled them out
right? shame they dropped
more important than type of weapon is know how to use it
Anything free becomes a sellable commodity to enable the removal of said free competition. A world designed by and for scammers and snake-oil salesmen.
are there still people looking for others to play with in this game?
Always
Yesterday at night I finally finished discovering my spawn island, with exception to 3 mountains (I'm in bronze age)
Congrats :) how many biomes do you have? Different boss alters?
Guys! Where is the best place to place early game portals? (My first one)
In your pocket
Your main base
To where? 🙂
Hmmmm the first goes in your base, but I'm assuming you're talking about the second. Depends usually. Sometimes I place my first one near the second boss, but other times I place it at an NPC. Just depends on what you find and prioritize. I just suggest you build a box around it.
Black forest? Yeah second!! Thanks, reading what u wrote
I meant what i said. Bring it with you drop stuff back home quickly
Wherever you need to go to frequently.
Here is what I do - have a "roaming portal". This is one portal at my base and one in my pocket. No name. The second one is at the stones for easy power swaps
a pocket portal
my boat always carries portal parts
After that - one at my first mining area for copper. And then.. when I visit a new continent, I pop one down in case I die.... makes for easier body recovery
All the biomes except mistlands, 2 elders, 1 eikthyr, I'm sure that I don't have bonemass and yagluth, not sure about moder
Sucks when you desync your inventory after picking up your pocket portal (omg always save). Luckily my single player world is stocked.
Portals everywhere!
I do portals like the StarGate universe does, 1 portal to all + 1 Er
i p[lace a portal in every island i reach to xD just incase
Omg, pocket portal, genious thanks!
Two Elders you say? If I were on your server I'd rush Eikthyr and diggydiggy portal-linked bases.
You can easily farm cores, wood, etc, to make more portals
On my whole map I have 3 elders, but 2 of them are on spawn island, also I have haldor and hildir on my spawn island
Ok that's a nice seed. Sadly I've been playing dedicated for so long I forgot what nice seeds felt like lol
and i have 3 elders, all of them almost at the edge of the map south, west, and east
Current world gen should guarantee 4 Elder altars: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Forsaken_altars
it does
Why did it un-embed itself
It didn't, I did it. It was just a big splash image interrupting the conversation 😉
I see
I wish i could un embed on mobile
dude mobile is so trash after that update that moved everything around.
It's not too disruptive
Real
Esp this new one that forces you to pick a certain file to embed
furnitures that increase comfort?
frustrated noises
I have marked a burial chamber on my map but I cannot find the entrance... Considering cutting down all the trees to improve visibility.
I shouldn't have to go through a maze to find and send the thing I just downloaded
Full list on comfort wiki page
I can send my map in clips, cuz I made a vid
there's also #screenshots
I have too much pins
guess im making a bathtub in valheim
I hate when that happens... it's usually some hill with a ton of trees right in front of it. I just tend to try to circle the pin when I do that to myself.
I ran around the hill for several minutes trying to find it. :p
If you resist talkin to hugin he'll show you the entrance ;)
falls in "Found it!"
A good while too late for that. :p
Just a friendly reminder you can right click on an icon on your map (not your pinned one, an icon on the right where you select one) to turn off that pin on your map 🙂
didnt know that. cool!
I saw a stone building just inside the black forest with a vegvisir, market it so i could show it to my wife. Turns out the vegvisir was a barrel
Currently killing greydwarves with falling trees. It is very satisfying.
Super useful, I turn off all my raspberry dots all the time haha
i read that wrong sorry
huh didnt know we could turn those off
Yeah you can temp hide all pins of one or all types
@latent wraith a tree may be blocking the entrance or a rock could be in the way. I have seen those kind of entrances
Nice starting island @obtuse cloud
Spent too much time on discovering it
I've seen plenty of blocked entrances - the frustration is because I've been outside it and marked it and now I can't find it agian. :p
I did find it inside some bushes.
Now I can finally kill elder and then I will start grinding iron cuz I have 8 crypts, should be enough to kill bonemass
8 crypts is great
Burial grounds can be super stealthy
just make sure not to waste iron because you have excess. Save it for later biomes
I'm not gonna make iron armor, cuz for me it's not necessary
not till i start deforestation
Same (well I often make iron helmet on hard mode but that’s it)
I'm playing on normal and I think I'll stick with it, I'm not a dedicated gamer who wants to spend 2k hours on this game 😂
The most stealthy entrance I've found was inside a copper vein with lots trees and bushes on the mound so it wasn't easy to see.
Good, preserve your sanity
Mine is diminishing
Especially when I tend to cheat a lot when Im dying and can't get my stuff back 😅
I'm trying to do this run without dying and cheesing (and haven't tried cheating in the game) but it's been rough
Sometimes lol
For now in this run I only log outed sometimes when I was 30min away from my base and was on verge of my death
We have numbered portals so we can always get back to our base, plus a dial-out portal with signs listing all the portals we have left all over the world.
Also I have in this game 440h and never thought about pocket portal lmao
Our numbered portals are a variation on the pocket portal
Except they allow us to do more portals while traveling and then clean up later
iv become lazy and tried to use my brain, thats when i tried to make a pocket portal
whaaaaaaaa
Needless to say, this playthrough is my most portal playthrough, bronze age and already 14 different places with portals
thats alotta portals xD
xD and i have like 5 xD 1 for each biome
Do you have big island like me 😅
god damn how big is it?
Check #memes-and-clips
daym thats big
In my portal base I have:
Spawn altar
1st base
2nd base
farm
Haldor
Hildir
1st mini base
2nd mini base
i should try making a portal hub, kinda annoying how i have to rename it xD
can do a hybrid hub. Have your most popular portals permanently paired, with a dial portal for all those portals all around the world.
Edit: punctuation.
i see guess ill do taht and gatekeep myself from progressing anyfurther xD
Just make sure you write them down 😆
Thats kinda my gameplay style as I have only a couple of hours a night to give to Valheim. I have a roaming portal and when I find something interesting I plop a "dial into" portal. I name it like "portal - 'swamp1'" on the map and move on. That way I can come back to it later if I want
I always end my gaming session with my roaming portal in my pocket and me at home base relaxing.
Yep, that's how we do it.
Signs by the dial up portal are great for that.
True
Finally got a 2 star cub to pop out. I will be spending a lot of time breeding and transporting wolves the next few days. #screenshots
I was reading on the wiki that comfort items must be within 10 meters of the player, does this include vertical? Could I build a hot tub below my bedroom and still get the benefit?
Yes, it includes vertical
Yes - I have my hottub below my bed in a lower floor. I think the area of effect is spherical
It's a sphere for all items, yes. Remember with the hot tub that it must be lit in order to function, and it produces smoke, so it can be a bit of a trick to place it where it doesn't smoke itself or you out but still provides the comfort. You get bigger comfort bonuses in the overlap of the spheres of various comfort-providing objects.
Yeah its a sphere, not a pillar of influence
A little trick to the hottub. I build it against a wall with the oven poking out of my structure so the smoke is vented outside. I then replace the wall and "phase" it through the oven. Tub inside... smoke outside.
Thanks
And yeah I usually use sloped items/roofs to help direct the smoke if I can't build an opening directly above it
Is the stagbreaker worth it?
I don't think you need it, but it's fun against skeletons in the crypts in the Black Forest
it can also hit enemies through walls which is nice
I've heard it's good with dealing with buried treasures
Comes in handy in swamp crypts killing stuff behind closed doors. Also can use to kill leeches from the shore
Oh yeah there is some trick to finding buried treasure with it, you could in theory use it to skip to the silver age but you'd need to look up a guide/ask around
Nah, I wouldn't want to miss out of the silver age
I personally found it fun for a bit in the crypts early game due to the fact the skellis loved overwhelming you. It also looks pretty cool hanging on your wall. And its relatively cheap to make.
Oh no I mean you could use it to skip all the previous ages and go straight to silver is what some people do, but I personally wouldn't do that because I find exploring/completing each biome fun
Even worse :v
Question - is there any verifiable triggers that set off 'Invasion' events? I had a lot of 'Eikthyr Wakes the Forest' before killing him, then 'The Forest Moves' a lot, and then nothing, for a LONG TIME.
Recently though, I just bumped my Forge to level 7 (currently JUST entered the Iron Age), and all of a sudden I got a full scale Troll invasion. I have never had this before, and additionally, my main homestead is in Meadows, with no adjacent Black Forest for quite a ways.
Is this normal? Due to the Forge upgrade? Or part of entering Iron Age?
Killing bosses is the main trigger for events
Troll invasion is if any troll has been killed in your world + the elder has died
Dang OK, I wiped the Elder roughly 20+ hrs of gameplay ago
Each 46 minutes you have a 20% chance to trigger a raid, but almodt all raids require you to be in what the game considrrs a base
OK, that all makes sense. Damn, I was ABSOLUTELY NOT expecting that (I don't reddit/google anything), so it was interesting
I think I craft one of everything because I like to collect stuff, but you can probably get away with only crafting pickaxes, axes, 1h maces, 1h shields, bows, and maybe an atgeir for AOE's or just high single target stabbing, but yeah, craft stagbreaker if you think it looks cool/fun to use and for that matter craft anything that looks interesting. If you're trying to play "efficiently" I'd say you could skip most 2h weapons.
Aighty
I currently feel like the Iron Age is a little slow? Maybe that's because the accessibility of Iron is so rare/difficult? I also feel like it's more about expansion and exploration rather than accumulation? Just a feeling though. With that full scale troll invasion behind me, and half my home annihilated, I have the itch to renovate, which is also probably half the reason for that kind of thing
Stagbreaker(sledges) and ooze bombs are great in general because you can use them to hit through barriers like doors and walls.
I'm surprised you feel iron is slow, I had an easy time clearing out dungeons and bringing my loot back, especially once I got the root helmet, Part of it is if you're not using portals with the allowance for carry metal through and building one close to crypts in the swamp, you probably want to build a longboat and carry back piles of iron that way then mass smelt it
Took me maybe 1-2 days to max all my iron gear and have a stack or two left over
^^^ I think I need to build a longboat, still relying on my karve to tootle around
My difficulty is in FINDING the damned crypts 😦
the longboat has a massive inventory, its gonna speed up the game for you
Only found 2 in about 6 different biomes
you'd think it'd be a waste of good iron but the longboat is so good
the increased sailing speed, the massive storage/health, the easier ability to fight sea sepents and make serpent stew, ect ect
Also you might want to find a trader and get the strength belt if you don't already own it
Interesting... I was in the middle of establishing a large agrarian section of my homestead as well, so moving around a ton of wood at once to new areas to setup camp is nice
Game changer
Longboat is essential for anything past black forest tier
You just need a lot of iron
When you think you might have enough, you need like 4x more
you need lot of iron the entire game in general 😄
I have a full magic kit and still no trader 💀💀💀💀💀
NOoooooooooo
how...
That is BRUTAL
He's hiding
Tbh haven't killed yagluth yet either. Me and the boys found him after one of us had a whole carapice kit
I have played the entire thing solo thus far, anyone else in that boat?
my main playthrough is solo, all the way up to fighting bonemass
I imagine there’s a lot of solo players who don’t even bother with the discord
Idk how I'd manage to stay alive
It is made as a solo game afterall
That is very, very good to know
They added co-op from popular demand but it’s always been intended to be a soloable game
You might want to check on that website that shows your map/various items like trader locations lol, otherwise just keep mapping out black forest locals
We don't wanna cheese it. We've come so far already
I have a seperate character for multiplayer, but 99% of my time is solo
i played both, solo and multiplayer but majority of my gameplay is solo, and it is more enjoyable that way imo 😄
I just got parts to build another computer for my kids, looking forward to doing a new world with them. I'm playing on PC/Deck back and forth, so I am excited to get them into it
I like how I’ve got trader on my starting island on one of my runs 😎
Ive played through the enture game solo, but also in a group. Over a yhird of my 1.5k hours is solo
i didnt notice this server got fixed
Now you did notice 😄
Mega scammed
not as many as here tho i imagine
500hr solo speed run!
I bet this time you might even set foot in the plains
No current plans afaik
1.5k hours damn
Ur all insane
nothing's been suggested or confirmed that it will ever release on PS
I’m surprised they bothered with Xbox
Isn't Xbox basically windows
I think I saw something saying they regretted that one but I could be mistaken
No
Yes
Still takes some effort to port, but it's not as bad as other consoles or Mac iirc
Makes sense
I made it to mistlands - without killing yag 😢
'twas for WE1C's statement
That Xbox is windows?
Porting was outsourced anyway
ye
It is
To a company based in the same town iirc, which may have helped.
Microsoft based their Xbox off their windows
It’s just a modified version in a user friendly box
Am I crazy or does the 1 meter horizontal wood beam not touch both of its snapping points?
Well depends what you mean by Xbox that's kinda broad in that context. Generally Xbox is a physical console whereas Windows is a software
And the software instead the Xbox is windows
You don’t get Xbox with other Mac or Linux software so it’s kind of implied at that point
I don't know how well the xbox software and windows software relates nowadays but when I used xbox it looked nothing like windows 😔 . Although it may be similar coding under the hood
It’s very similar under the hood since it’s entirely based off of it but yeah the front end looks a lot different
I would hate if my pc used a xbox software layout
Cough windows 11
Do boat graves always have a treasure in the middle?

Even though Xboxes are quite PC-like, Microsoft locks them down so that you can't install Windows on them. How and why do they do this?
Thanks, Modern Vintage Gamer for helping us with this video! Check out his c...
not always
Certainly not after youve emptied them
No building related channels yet?
nope
What non teleportable materials should I bring to the mistlands?
i don´t think you really need any, you can get what you need there pretty much
If you want to make ballistas then you need metal for those
If youre setting up full camp, tin and silver for cooking
I think thats the only thing I brought there
You can get iron and bronze
Youll need blackmetal too, but if theres plains nearby...
Copper for some forge upgraded i guess
Or does copper drop? I think it does
if you wanna make a base there, everything. But if you just want to make a little resource outpost I think you'd be good with just bringing some black metal (or bringing some iron and then collecting raw black metal from nearby plains and smelting it) . Been a while since I toured the mistlands tho
Copper can drop from the shields and swords in the Mistlands, and I think also some from the Dvergr outpost fixtures and such
there are copper scraps there iirc
I think what I used to do was just collect iron in mistlands, then collect blackmetal from a nearby plains, and smelt it all there. Didn't bring any metals
Sometimes its great to have a bad memory. Just found half a cart full of stone that I forgot about 😄
How much black metal will I probably need?
Hello, we want to start a Valheim server if you are interested you can join
Alzheimers means you can plan your own surprise birthday party? 😛
hello
not too much. But prob bring a stack or two if you wanna be safe (I think one stack should be plenty unless you really wanna mass produce)
Alright
A few stacks at least
It has a few important uses
Hi there!
you probably need to clarify what we've been asking tho bc the answer largely varies. Are you wanting to smelt a few resources in mistlands, or set up an entire base?
My answer is based on just smelting a bit there in a small outpost. Not setting up a bunch of workstations and all that
That fits better in #1024264966712340510
Small outpost just to be able to access non teleportable stuff and other resources
You need 10 blackmetal per sap extractor I believe, not sure there's not much else that needs it explicitly other than pots and pans for cooking upgrades
thing about mistlands materials that are used to make gear is that you need metal to collect the important resources there so you NEED to bring metal to mistlands (blackmetal), but once you collect mistlands resources those resources easily go through a portal back to your home. And for getting resource collection setup you'll be rich with just 30 blackmetal
I was thinking 10 too but wiki says 5 and I'm inclined to believe it. Blackmetal isn't used for anything else for resource collection in mistlands so everything else is just setup at home base outside mistlands
I might be misremembering as well 😛 I could have sworn it was 10, but it's been a minute since I've had to build one
sap extractor = 10 ygdrasil, 5 black metal, 1 extractor
That specific wording is wrong. Its used for mining lol
I have a 57 inch ultra wide, is it possible to modify the UI via assets to bring the HUD to the middle of my screen?
Day 1680. The castle wall around our huge castle base (that we started on one year ago) is finally completed including Machicolations!
?
Blackmetal is used for resource collection (specifically mining)?
That its not used for anything else for rrsource collection
ah I was reading the wrong of my messages but anyways seems right to me in context of what we were talking about. Blackmetal isn't used for anything else than the beforementioned sap mining for resource collection in mistlands. Not used for anything but the sap mining
was a confusing sentence tho
You need it to make the BM axe and pick, but you don't have to make those specifically in the Mistlands
Xbox reached out
Had to get a piece of the best Viking game around
I need the emote /slap so I can say "This bad boy isn't going anywhere" because my stone wall keeps falling down even though I'm adding more and more wood iron poles
Black metal is so free
Stacks on stacks of it in my base compared to other metals
Blackmetal is my main projectile resource once I hit the Mistlands, and even then I don't use it fast enough.
Yeah we are drowning in it. We have 3 standard chests full of them, and more in the smelter..
sameeee
It's a lot less dependent on finding and beating the boss before moving on to the next
I'm glad we can make Blackmetal chests and the various ammo with it, because after you make all the weapons it's largely useless
Plains and mistlands is a bunch of fun. BF and Swamp are a bit of a drag. Mountain is decent
Fs
It feels awful when the boss item is basically required to progress in the game
So PlayStation never reached out? Or are they not interested in early access?
Yea plains and mountain bosses can be hell to find sometimes
not AFAIK
and if my memory serves me right. playstation doesn't have a Early Access posiblity 🤔
but I'm not a PS owners so don't know for sure
They're missing out...
probably 😄
but I'm not a programmer. so I can't even fathom how hard it is to port something to Playstation
At least they are missing out on Valheim 😎😍
my personal experience with ported titles from PS to PC is... not good 🥲
That's because so many titles for consoles are programmed to the specific hardware, and the devs often take a lazy approach and just adjust performance to the parameters of the hardware. Very similar to old games that locked the gameplay loop to the CPU speed, so when they got used on a newer computer they ran too fast to be playable.
yeah for sure :/
usually it's the controls which translates horrible to KBM :/
Hell, Bethesda famously had their physics engine tied to their framerate, so you would get really weird behavior on PCs that could crank out 100+ FPS in games that were developed and tested at 30-60FPS 😛
How did they think that would be a good idea..
Same with geometry dash
Because they capped the framerate to 30FPS for consoles, and figured that'd work for PCs too. It's actually useful if the framerate drops, because then the physics doesn't "get ahead" of what you can see, it just keeps running.
and remember 11/11/11 was a different era of hardware so in short term thinking, tying physics to fps wasn't too wild at the time... until it became wild 😄
Back in my day we had the "Turbo" button on our PCs, which actually didn't make them faster but it slowed down the CPU clock so that old DOS games that were tied to the CPU speed would be playable 👴 They were built for a 286, and never thought that a 386 of 486 would be so much faster, or even come in different speed grades.
or the math coprocesser that came about too ... no one understood how fast computers would evolve.
Oregon trail anyone
yeah.. I remember my 75Mhz processor went all the way to 90Mhz! 😮
lol relics of a bygone era. Gamers had to setup an autoexec.bat to ensure system memory was properly setup before running the game let alone a soundcard or other peripherals. 😄
Duck only soup
DOS = Disk Operating System. It was one of the very early commonly available operating systems, and was the underpinning of Windows 3.1, 95, and even 98.
You have died of pneumonia.
Againnnnn!?
Dysentery got me so many times
Lemme tweak my config.sys and emm386 values so I can get enough highmem to enable my soundblaster, man...
Damn, critical hit right in the nostalgia. Tempting me to pull out some of my old laptops with DOS again just to play around.
Correct, they are apparently also obnoxious about certifying updates, making hotfixes and other hurried updates very awkward to push.
I'd expect that tho
insert disk 7 intensifies
Disk 26 of 32 is corrupt...
building i have t o say is probably my most fun thing to do in this game. ive just gotten to plains, the flies are pretty weak (when i hear them coming up on me i just slap them). Tar blobs are pretty annoying
Why am I seeing the same glowing particless that come from dropped items come from inside a rock?
First time I’ve seen someone actually using stealth #self-promotion message
Also the monkey cam was a great idea
What was this 38.1kb patch?
There hasn't been a patch. It would be in #news and #valheim-patchnotes if there had.
doubt I can post links in here but it is in screenshots
yo boys is there way how do i get my carrot farm reproductive?
or do i just have to always go into black forest for new seeds? no seed bearing phase for carrots?
it's just Steam doing random stuff
just plant carrots to get seeds, and before long you'll have more carrots than you know what to do with 😄
i just collected 30 carrots and got no seeds out of them, did i do something wrong?
plant the carrot. not the seed
oh
it's one of the options on your cultivator
oh i see now what the hell, that's completely new for me
this is my first time getting into bronze age, ty guys
im not sure, but i think IRL that uncollected carrots automatically turn into seed carrots?
if left unpicked it continues the development afaik
In real life? Vegetables usually have their seeds in the flower.
humming ommmmmmmmm
Have grown carrots, can confirm. Them turning to seeds eventually is not good game mechanics though 😉
Well, that's me taught.
true true, i would never have any vegetables in the game if that aply as in RL 😄
The part we eat of carrots are the roots. You can actually replant the carrot tops sometimes and regrow them.
Doesn't VEgetables stand for very easily getables?
No.
Some day i will catch you on not knowing obvious stuff;)
Meat is my vegetables.
OK? I was literally wrong about the carrots so it's not THAT unusual.
I mean more obvious stuff..
Vegetables don't actually mean anything scientifically, it's just a culinary classification
it wasnt totally wrong, they make flowers on top of the carrots
Is a smelter worth building without a kiln/coal source?
If you have enough of coal
I don't have any
You can always make coal by buring food if you really have to.
Sacrilege
I'm growing tired of charring neck tails 💀
If you're really short of resources, you can make a kiln first, burn a few stacks of charcoal and then dismantle it again to make a smelter.
Oooh great idea
🤔
Pretty sure you need to burn the stacks of wood to make charcoal, not burn stacks of charcoal. but to each their own I suppose
Ofc you burn wood into charcoal, but you also burn charcoal from wood
you 'burn' the charcoal to smelter whatever ore you have got, so yes 😉
🤔 NO
whatever.... 😅
You burn wood to make charcoal, you then use charcoal as fuel for the other things xD
that's what I said^^
What words exactly are we juggling here?
Salad
takes some charcoal to the grill, puts some meat on it and invites everyone to a healthy meal
and if you roast the meat long enough, you get charcoal again^^
Common sense isn't so common nowdays.. sorry not sorry
now I'm hungry.... 👀
Just blow the trash up in the oblivator ( sp) presto magic COAL!
Common sense is just assuming people have had the same experiences anyway
Hence " Common Sense isn't very Common" Experiences have nothing to do with common sense...
^
You can’t have sense without experience
lmao
But you can simulate this experience without getting it actually
like some mon before germ?^^
“Common sense is often based on a combination of personal experiences, observations, cultural norms, and societal expectations. It encompasses practical knowledge and judgments about everyday situations that are generally accepted as sensible or reasonable within a particular context or culture.
While some aspects of common sense may be innate or instinctual, much of it is learned and developed through lived experiences and interactions with the world. People draw upon their past experiences, both successes and failures, to inform their decisions and actions in new situations”
still love your beard, btw 😉
I mean more complex than just experiences of course but it’s heavily apart of it
Oh ma gad
Thanks I grew it myself
Metallurgy turned into a philosphical debate
oh good gawd, now we quoting the dictionary
Still love your plumage
thx it just happened to appear on me^^
Must be related to the other one in this discord...
Maybe it’s maybelline
Maybe its generic
Are ancient seeds for summoning the Black Forest boss?
Yes
Yes
What's he called?
Other than that useless xD
The elder
Oooooh nice
He has some really cool attack animations. He’s why I bought the game in the first place
I saw a clip of his fight and was like okay I need to die by that
I suppose he's the big-ass tree sentinel, is fire effective against him?
Fire arrows are effective
Some elder made you buy it?
THE elder made me by
DR Elder to be exact put some respect on his name
Oh sorry THE elder. Granma?
Papap
Did the Elder also make the scrolls?
I did catch her with a quill
🤡
heyyy fellow xbox players im looking for new players to the game or old to play with me and my two friends on our new world
thank youuuu
if they did, it explains, why he's blind XD
I really liked my last time fighting him since I stood eye level with him
I actually think it was his first time when he saw who he was fighting then
I don't think he can look down, he has got no neck, and his eye muscles if exist must be soo stiff
Is corewood from oak trees?
from pines
Can I cut pines with a flint axe?
yes
Oh perfect
oak and birch needs metal axe and drops fine wood
Fir is not Pine
Where do I find it
dark wood afaik
Black Forest?
fir and pine are in black forest
fir are wide and not that tall
pine are thin and very tall
Oooh yeah
Are you playing just by imagining the game in your head?
What do you mean?
A troll just appeared fml
Idk just got this feeling. Like old school text quests
That’s how people cheese skipping eikthyr since you can just get a troll to mine your first bronze pickaxe
Text based rpg's is it
Imagine you come back and he's finishing mining your deposit. That would be cool
They get rid of voice chats?
Pretty much everything went with the hack, but they're working on bringing them back.
Ahhh okay
Let the troll break the pines for you. Dodge roll into the attack
He has greydwarf goons
Let him not to kill you first
Decent time between attack to focus trash
Can I solo with flint spear and wooden round shield?
Yep
Can I parry?
A troll?
Yeah 💀
Everything but the big ground slam
Dodge roll is just safest route
Then you need stamina. Plenty of stamina to dodge roll
Safest route is a bow
Good deal
I would strictly not recommend
Troll engaged
Watch the animations. Practice timing. Post a bed nearby for quicker re-engagement
Judging by the amount of deaths in the last couple mins
Guess what
I win
Night time?
Ye
And the terrain. You forgot to blame the terrain
Shamans have to be prioritized for sure
Terrain was fine tbh
Nice, i was worrying about the terrain
Fighting on a hill is definitely tricky
Heh
Fucking shaman again 😭
so i just killed second boss, how do i get to swamps? is it always next to a black forest?
No
Fuck around, and you'll find out
Often times sailing is necessary
ah, i hate sailing, very unreliable way of transport since wind affects it so much
Wind doesn't affect swimming, but it's even less reliable
At leasts dodging is easier than Elden Ring
Dang. Sorry. Sailing is a big part of Valheim
yeah, i wish swimming skill would affect its speed instead of stamina drain only
the game is pretty nice, i love the challenge of it so its something ill just deal with
Sailing is fun as soon as you master it enough
oh yeah but rolls are pretty pointless imo
mostly running or walking away is just more reliable
Rolls have I frames and are a huge asset in combat
Dodge rolls are fun as soon as you master them enough
do they ignore damage the moment you're in rolling animation?
Yes
cause i just fought elder and i was pretty much invicible cuz before his stomp hit the ground i just ran away from the aoe damage
oh thats nice, i thought it works like in other games
First troll?
Yessir
Congrats. Worth the deaths. Only gets easier
you mean greyling shamans?
On the absolute scale of hardness there are some creatures inbetween for sure
Hang them everywhere
And contemplate
You don't need them post eikthyr. Only for decorations
so when it comes to sailing, how do you guys deal with change of wind? im going from kinda fast to extremely slow in just few minutes due to wind direction change
Draw sail back
I guess you can make a stagbreaker though
you mean letting it go from 3 arrows up to none?
3 to 1
thank you
You're welcome
oh yeah i had no idea that's what made me quit the game when i played it first time, im glad i gave it a second chance
Drawing back to 1 before the wind is fully against helps maintain a little speed transitioning into paddle
plenty of things that are just not explained
I have a question I'm not sure if anyone will be able to answer lol
thats good to know for future, ty
I learned that you can't level any weapon skills off of birds when you shoot them because they aren't considered an enemy or something along those lines.
My question is, when fighting the elder, if you hit the "roots" he spawns, do those count towards your weapon skill or not
My pleasure. I like to set sail at break of day. Buy me the most time of daylight possible. Ocean at night is sketch
Is your plan to farm bow lvl on elder?
I'm farming the elder because I want keys for some build ideas and the glow looks neat
and wondering if I'm wasting my time hitting the roots
I think roots count
You can check your skill stats of the weapon in question. To see if progress is being made.
It's just a pain to check my stats while fighting him and figured I could save myself some time if anyone happened to know the answer lol
the damage on the roots aply to skill points, but you wasting your time hitting them 😄
Stagbreaker hella weak
Stag is blunt Ekho. Best to use on things weak to it.
Nvm it started dealing damage
Not so fast with assumptions
i make it only as a tool, not a weapon 😄
I killed a mf ghost
Stagbreaker is good for burial chambers
I noticed
Stagbreaker is good for aesthetic
