If a genre, type of gameplay or similar artstyle is popular, its good for the industry to use aspects that works. I do think trendfollowers can be problematic as well. Just see what happened with battleroyals

Essentially though, if you make something, and someone else can improve upon it somehow, at the end of the day, it benefits the players.

Thats a fair shake. The reason I have a bit of a problem is I saw the Closed Alpha... it utilized the exact same HUD as Valheim. And this is Jagex we're talking about, it's not an inspired Dev, it's a big dev cashing in on a popular idea with their own IP.
I guess if they can flesh out Magic to be a core mechanic instead of a late-game flavor it would answer a need I've heard echoed about Valheim.

I find combat lacking, primarily magic. I find the amount of different types of magic very lacking, and the lack of different melee attacks. But since I returned to Valheim, I realised its really not much different with combat depth. Whats your take?

I play mostly melee in Enshrouded so haven't done a lot with magic. Combat is very limited though. The skill tree is the worst though.

And the worker NPCs might as well be walking workbenches.

The thing I didn't like most about Enshrouded are those parkours things in the spires. Jumping around as a left handed person on right handed settings is a pain in the pinky finger.

The building is OK-ish, the crafts people need to be chained to their workspot as they have a habit of wandering off, but the world in itself as well as the storyline are good.

It's a system used to store the state of terrain. A heightmap is a grid of values representing the height of terrain at a specific coordinate. This means you cannot have two surfaces of terrain above each other, so no caves or floating terrain.

The idea in general isn't that bad. But the freaking multi jump / swings they require.
I don't remember how often I had to switch from the hook, pressed E, made the swing, pressed space to jump and land just 1 milimeter too short from the edge of the platform, thus crashing down in the lava or red shroud; thus having to start the whole freaking thing over again.......

I think because enshrouded presents itself as a more action rpg and valheim is more survival so in enshrouded u expect more in the combat and valheim its less of a focus so combat feels like it fits

And when you want to build a big castle, create a platform or dirt walls, this ability may just be enough to get the last rocks for that final piece, without going out into the world to mine a couple of boulders.

You can always sail away, go ashore at a point the archers aren't, drop a workbench, repair the boat, then return to that spot on foot and lure the archers out of the water. After that, simply smash their skull in and they won't bother you anymore.
