If it is the first time you play, leave it all at default and see what the game has to offer.
Play with the world settings as you go, you can change them anytime you want before you load the world.

It really depends for what experience you are looking for:
more combat, less grinding for resources --> high resource drop and hard combat
building and you couldn't care less about mobs --> high resource drop and passive mobs
Everything is hard to craft and grueling combat and if you die you lose everything --> resource rate 0.5, very hard combat and highest death penalty
You can play with so much settings and craft your own experience and only you know what you are looking for.

No, for now I'm playing default till the game is finished and maybe later I'll play with world modifiers and / or some qol mods.

I like to drop the "death penalty" to lesser amount, since at higher skill levels, even one death drops too much. Not all the way to the easiest, since then you keep the gear and that is way too easy and changes the game too much. I also fiddle with the difficulty a bit. To hard, sometimes very hard, but tone it down in some situations. Also I usually add more raids to the base.

Early in the game I sometimes turn off portal restriction to bring ore through portal since it is tedious initially (tin and bronze especially).

Now I am thinking about a world in which I disable portals entirely, since it makes it very different. If you can simply teleport away to your main base, the game kinda looses its "out there" feeling and you get to the safety of your base all the time, and no need to build proper secondary bases. Or think about food too much since you get them so easily from your base.

Although that means lot of slow walking... it would be good if i could compensate that with faster running speed which there is no option. Hmm.

Given that English is basically a 2nd language in my country, it won't work. But I was pleasantly surprised when someone said "no, but German OK."
Been a while since I used to talk to someone in German, but eventually was quite fun to do that.

We don't have that in general in the NL; except for movies which are made for children. So usually I hear the actor / actress playing the part instead of some Dutch voice actor / actress trying to do that part.
Instead we got subtitles, which makes it often easier to follow a movie or TV-show, but at the same time often destroys a joke or a phrase as the translation of the joke / phrase is often set to a Dutch one as well. Worst translation I saw was changing the name of a 7-11 into one of a Dutch supermarket branch.

oh the one movie that came to theaters in original with subs was the last Ethan Cohen one, more than half of friends i recommended it was like "nah i can't be bothered with subs", really not a thing here. I've seen the original Don Camillo movies (with Fernandel) and the remake (with Terrence Hill) seen in both Italian with subtitles and overdubbed. The original versions are far more superior because the whole Italian acting about a priest in an Italian village feels more natural as when all voices are done with dubs.

Especially when the dub is still using words of the original language while also using his own.
Worst experience I had with that when I saw a German dubbed movie in which John Wayne said: "Hey, Johnny, gib mir meinen Colt." shivvers

They may have become popular because of the simplicity.
In a way they are all the same.
In all their movies Terrence Hill is the trouble maker, Bud Spencer is the more relaxed / bored person.
In all fights it's Terrence Hill using his athletics and environment (like a pool cue in a bar fight), while Bud Spencer relies on his "invulnerability" and strength. Usually meaning that at some point all the bad guys jump on him and then are being thrown off, or they enter some room, you get the rapid slapping thing and they all fly out.
In all their movies the bad guys are so obviously bad and stupid, each child will yell that they are the bad guys, and all children don't understand why BS and TH don't see that.
There's always that one guy that tries to hit Bud Spencer, then hurts his hand, while Spencer looks at him being bored, slams the fist on the bad guys head who's going unconscious right away.

So the pattern is known, the end is known as Spencer and Hill turn out to be half brothers - or cousins - and the bad guys all end up in jail.
