Effectively I want a smaller version of the Mini Computer.
I have noticed that (at least in my opinion) a Mini Computer is overkill in at least some use cases. Especially for Blueprints designed as add-ons to another build.

Why do I need a dozen data connections if I only need two to four. Think of Doors, Ore Scanners, Automatic Ground anchor / Crusher when drilling, Autocrafting, etc.

I'm still unsure about the exact implication so I'm gonna leave some ideas below:

Smaller than the alternatives (One Block)
Cheaper (1x Casing, 1xCircut, Connectors)
Less Data ports (4-8)
Once a HDD is placed inside it can't be removed
No LV power needed (explained by power over data cables)

I wanted to build a delay power off, but need a simple OR device. Imagine the current Data Junction, but reversed with four inputs and a single output. As long as a single input is non-zero, it will send on '1'. And a matching AND version (but I don't have a scenario for that).

I guess really only need a NAND version, but I rather have the explicit OR/AND versions too. Of course someone will try to simulate a 6502 CPU with them... 😀

For sure with this it would be one block and an OR, AND, etc code on HDDs or blueprints

not really since its more general than just OR, AND, etc.
Since this idea is a full computer it can do everything that other computers can

Well you can still do that if it has more ports and possible without the router if it has enough.

yea i feel like another good limitation would maybe be lowering the IPC so you cant lag a adventure / survival with ic spam

well alot of time i only have one data cable fixed to the computer just because i use the mini routers like they are computers lol

then run them in line and boom everything on one comp with only one data cable it saves the crap outta your data cable too

yes but imagine a door with two buttons and two pivots
that doesn't need a router sure you might want to connect it to a central control station but then you will likely need a router anyway

Maybe you could flash a program on a hdd and when you power it, the program would launch automatically. This mean that there are no code or reboot button and the script will be already pre compiled. This could save some processing power and make mini computers more for experimentation and prototyping because they would consume much more power and need more computing. And the chip would be for finish building because it would cost less and be less power hungry
