#FPS drop of 50% while moving + heavy stutter

Have not played for a while... have here stable 60 fps @ 80% gpu usage (looking around = ultrasmooth at 60 fps too). When i start to move/run, the fps is dropping down to 20..30, as you see in the graph the gpu usage is dropping here. And the cpu is doing nothing. Half VRAM is free.
Already set here the terrain details down, but nothing changed. The game is not playable for me, because the fps are jumping (not just falling down to 20..30, but chaning several times a second) and the game stutters extremly. Same if i deativate clutter (this was my first idea here).

Flying is ok...the fps drop is just 2..4 frames, but smooth wihtout stutter.

Edit:

  • ray reconstrution is not the problem
  • deactivated v-sync -> over 80 fps + while running drop to 50...60 with not-so-heavy stutter, but still there

Hardware: 10 core i9 (4.3 ghz), 96 gb ram, 8gb 3060 Ti OC

While driving the fps drop down to 2...3 😦

@broken helm try setting a cpu affinity for main thread in game.ini to a core index that’s not an e-core.
A value of -1 (default) means no affinity

#

Let me know if it helps

@slow idol I've no e-cores..it's a 10900KF. So all 10 cores are the same.
I already tested with higher frequencies. Defaul is 3.7 and i can go up to 5.3 Ghz, but my cooling is not good enough.
I never had this problem and it was still ok with the last big update some weeks ago (i think 96?) where i have made a new savegame.

CPU is doing nothing, as you can see on the screenshot with the gpu graph. Max 10 %.

Started game - and it saved the state while driving vehicle. 0.6 FPS + 100% CPU (i''ve set core in game.ini to 0):
After the vehicle stopped the normal FPS came back (CPU < 10%).
Is this a physics calculation problem...?

Performance while not driving

#

Core 0 while running around. The admin panel do noch changed. While running t he Load was 2.4/2.5% and Physics stable at 2%.

#

While flying around: FPS 70 - 90, physics 0%, Server 0.6%

The more important question is:
Why do you have an HDD?

Ok I was asking this question just in case because Archean must not be installed on an HDD

Thats why i have meanwhiöe three m.2...using them for years for games 🙂

But let me check this..i sometimes move games to one of the hdd when i need room for a new game... i'm 89% sure, that archean is still on one of the m.2 😬

I've recoded it, so you can see when what happens.
Looking around = ok
Flying = ok
Moving (any speed) = random fps drops / stutter

VSync off here + high performance energy settings. What is strange, that the game is somehow limiting, because while flying (~80 fps) the CPU is just at round 10% and GPU at 40%.

Try setting cpu affinity in game.ini
Try different core indices and see if there’s a difference..
it’s important to set this while the launcher is running but not the game

Can you compare solo vs multiplayer?

#

If you connect to a remote server does it still stutter?

#

Also you can try lowering terrain detail to something like 0.1

Just chiming in here. I had a similar performance regression although it was not always when moving (but happened more often then). I told windows game bar to forget archean as a game which turned off gameplay recording. Giving me a ton of frames back.

On a ryzen 5950x and rtx 3090

tested with the new version: it's ok now...60 - 80 fps. no stutter/fps drops...

New bug: set from dlss ultra performance to performance and back -> game crashed without message. my first crash of archean in 167 hours 😳
