I feel like the way the keybinds are set up out of the box leads many people to use WASD for pitch and roll instead of the arrow keys, but end up in conflict with how those keys are named.
That leads to some issues where joystick players can't use workshop planes without digging into their code to fix axis.
I think it would make sense to flip the names of these so that the arrow keys correspond to left, right, up and down, and the main keys WASD match pitch and yaw.
Doing the name change wouldn't negatively affect any already built vehicles, just the names on the nodes.
Not sure how you would reconcile the joystick bindings elegantly, but the default binding axis would need to be flipped around for new users at least.
There is some expectation of setting up your joystick axis anyway (less so with the gamepad)
It's possible I'm the weird one, but I suspect a lot of keyboard players and old KSP players expect that layout, as well as keeping your hand nearer to the other keys in use such as Main Thrust, Ctrl, space and number keys while flying.
