#What are some of the best heroes that can flex between support and offline?

1 - . Steel
- Support: Steel’s Shield Slam (stun) and Bulwark (wall) are great for peeling and protecting carries. His initiation tools make him a strong frontline in duo lane.
- Offlane : In solo, Steel becomes a tanky bruiser who can sustain, lock down enemies, and force fights with his ultimate knock-up. His durability and CC let him contest waves and teamfight.
2- Richter
- Support: His hook (Riplash) is a pick tool that sets up kills in duo lane, and his CC-heavy kit is perfect for controlling fights around objectives.
- Offlane: Richter can build tanky/bruiser, punish melee matchups with his base damage and sustain, and still provide massive teamfight presence with his AoE silence ult.
3 -Crunch
- Support: Less traditional, but viable—his rotating CC combo and durability can bully duo lane, plus he peels well for carries.
- Offlane: A strong bruiser with wave-clear and 1v1 potential. His combo system gives him outplay potential and consistent dueling power.
4 - Narbash
- Support: Natural fit—healing, speed aura, and stun on thunk make him one of the most supportive characters in duo lane.
- Offlane: He can flex into solo if built tanky; his sustain and CC make him very hard to dislodge, and he brings huge teamfight utility with ult channel + healing.
5 - Argus
- Support: Provides strong poke, shielding, and zoning in duo. His ult lockdown controls objectives, but he’s squishier than most supports.
- Offlane: Can bully melee matchups with ranged poke and wave clear. Brings reliable teamfight value with ult, but struggles if dived by bruisers.
Why these heroes flex well:
- They have strong CC or utility, making them valuable as Supports.
- They have enough durability and/or damage to hold their own in Offlane.
- Their kits don’t rely solely on gold scaling—meaning they can still function when behind in farm (support role) or when given solo XP/gold (offlane role).
What about kwang, grux, and zarus?
I'm a huge fan of steel, riktor, and narb. If I'm going try hard I'm picking one of them support for sure.
I guess my question should have been-- which offlane heroes can flex into support?
-
Kwang
-
Support: Has poke and sustain, but lacks reliable peel or hard engage compared to true supports. Feels more like an offlaner shoved into duo.
-
Offlane: Strong lane sustain, scaling tankiness, and utility ult make him a natural solo pick.
-
Grux
-
Support: Brings CC and damage, but he’s too farm-reliant and squishy early to protect an ADC. Falls off hard without gold.
-
Offlane: Fits perfectly—wave clear, dueling, and dive tools let him bully and snowball.
-
Zarus
-
Support: Pure carry-oriented scaling kit; no real peel, utility, or consistent engage. Doesn’t enable ADCs.
-
Offlane: Shines with solo XP/gold—scales into hyper-carry duelist that can 1v9, but needs resources to function.
crunch
Try Muriel offlane.
I prefer her in this role as you get your ult faster and most other supports have stuns or peels - which Muriel lacks.
In the offline, you are team support from 6, not just carry support.
Stand back and poke, hold the wave at your side.
If they pull green, just walk over and watch them.... pop your alacrity and basic attack to steal.
Buff and run away.
You are good at explaining roles. Can you do Phase support and iggy/scorch? They were my favorites in OG.
Sure No prob
- Phase
- Support: A top-tier enchanter. Her tether heal/cleanse lets carries play aggressive but her ult is massive in team fights. She excels in sustain, peel, and enabling hyper carries.
- Offlane: Doesn’t fit well. She’s squishy, low wave clear, and no 1v1 threat. Any bruiser or tank can dive and punish her. Even if she survives lane, she offers less teamfight value than from support because she misses early ADC synergy.
- Iggy & Scorch
- Support: Functions more like a poke mage support. His turrets zone enemies, forcing bad trades in lane, and he can harass ADCs under tower. However, he lacks peel, mobility, and reliable engage, and sustainability so he struggles in traditional support duties.
- Offlane: A solid control pick. His turrets + AoE clear let him safely farm and bully melees who can’t dive early. Later, his Molotov + ult combo creates massive zone denial at objectives, making him strong in teamfights. His weakness is mobility and sustainability—if bruisers get on top of him, he can be shut down very easily.
