#What is Mourn's Ult for?

I like any form of global ultimate, but I legitimately can't figure out what I'm supposed to do with Mourn's ult. Which is a shame because otherwise I really like the character. Maybe one of my favorite supports _RoleSupportIcon.

On the topic at hand though, it sometimes might be useful in a teamfight by getting a fleeing opponent to run in the wrong direction or allow a teammate to escape if they have a movement ability that let's them get outside the vision area, but that's basically the only practical application I can think of. Even just using it for the movement boost is kinda bust because you're rooted while channeling it which pretty much just acts as a self-stun. Any distance I would gain from the movement boost is lost by rooting myself for like two seconds.

I legitimately don't understand in what situation I'm supposed to use this ult. Can any Mourn mains tell me what I'm missing?

The ult removes all vision from the team causing a lot of benefits to your team. You can be in offlane 1v1ing your opponent and your team is rotating into fang as they noticed the jungle and duo taking it, you pop it and your mid gets to rotate and your jungle and duo too. The enemy team can only react by either playing safe or seeing them directly, but no ward coverage or minimap access creates a much harder environment to navigate. You don’t even have to be at the fight to be effective in this case.

That's it? I'm gonna use my ult to slow the enemy team's coordination by 4s? That's essentially worthless in solo queue.

The issue I see is this isn't blinding. People don't lose the ability to navigate. You can try to slow reenforcements but if they were less than 4.5 seconds they will probably arrive to help because they still know where they are in relation to where they were going. If they were more than 4.5 seconds away it is probably more useful since the fight can move further before they arrive limiting their ability to course correct. But again isn't not like they're going to get lost. Realisticly you're only slowing their arrival by maybe 1-2 extra seconds.
Generally though this has been my strategy using the ult already. Just pop it any time a teamfight occurs and hope it helps somebody.

Creating confusion among the enemy team is definitely useful. I'm not gonna argue that it's not. The issue I see is that unless you made a plan beforehand and everyone knows when you're going to use it, it's such a short duration that your team likely won't even take advantage of it. And that's assuming PUGs will even listen to you.

Also you can be verbose but don't think I can't tell that you just told me, "Skill issue".

also in lower ranks it confuses and scares the enemy

#

sometimes ill pop it if i think their team is looking to contest or gank

#

so they get scared and back away

#

psychological warfare is key

#

if i really cant find a use for it ill just pop it randomly lol

Like I said, I've pretty much just been using it any time I see a team fight happening (even if I'm not there) and hoping that it'll cause enough confusion to help somebody do something. But it can't be optimal to just throw it out there and hope it makes somebody run the wrong way.

It's exceptionally good for situational ganks let's say against howitzer or skylar. Defensively they are really good IF they use their abilities well. When you take away their vision then wham you get better odds at their mistakes and then more favor in your fights

As I said in the original post, the speed boost is countered by the channeling. You can't move for like 2 seconds which allows time for opponents to either catch up or get away and the subsequent speed boost isn't enough to make up that lost time. At the highest level the speed boost may be high enough to allow you to come out positive but probably only barely.
