#Role contest priority criteria in ranked

I don't think is fair for a gold player to contest a paragon player in role selection and have 50% chances to get the role.
Beside the fact of having a gold and a paragon merged in the same lobby just due to mmr reasons.
Often times the gold player had a good time but he's no way ready for such lobbies and should lose role prio

I think you are focussing on the wrong problem(s) personally.

  1. Paragon and Gold in the same lobby just shouldn’t happen, it’s bad ranked mode design imho.
  2. Not being able to queue as your preferred role or roles I think also leads to frustration like the one you are talking about.

Regarding your specific complaint if I am bronze and you are paragon and the role I know how to play is jungle and we both pick it, yes you are likely to be a far better jungle then me but on the flip side you can also probably play whatever the other role was far better then that person who has chosen the only role they know how to play. I know 4 gods can sometimes carry a 5th player but in theory the other team should also have a similar skill player.
If I put all logic aside, I play games to have fun, even ranked! If I knew I never win the contested role because someone is higher rating than me I don’t think that’s fair at all.

Thing is I suggested the most ignorant and shortsighted way to tackle the problem but with a bit of thought there'd be tons of ways to just come up with a fairer alternative. Anything but this

but on the flip side you can also probably play whatever the other role was far better then that person who has chosen the only role they know
This is a misconception of the issue, pred is more about macro than micro hence why the skillceiling ain't that high, extra reason to let experienced people go where they can make an actual impact

If the general “placement” was slightly faster especially for win streaking

#

I think the perception would be largely different

someone mad he lost a 50/50

#

imagine saying to a player, hey we have a better guy then you on the team you have to play an offrole and dont have fun

#

yeah that will be good for new players

@teal loom the issues stands in what you say, the "new player" should not be in the higher lobbies. But it's two different issues.
Now, in the thread I made the example of an extreme scenario (which happens, not a lot) of the gold player mixed among paragon players. That should highlight the issue that a Paragon adc player contested by a gold is no good, if the paragon ends up support you objectively have lower chances to win the game, it's a fact upon numbers

#

the most common scenario is a platinum/paragon, platinum/diamond. The platinum should not have equal chances to pick the role that someone with proven more experience selects. bud, is ranked, we're not talking about pubs

#

You feel the impact differently pending on the contested role, say a gold player takes jungle away from a paragon/diamond player. JUNGLE, you're going to have zero objectives that game and likely a very low quality macro
