#Players shouldn't be trying a hero for the first time in ranked

Unfortunately this is called being careless
But u have that in real life so games are no different
I dont have rampage to level 3
I'm currently 5-1 on him in ranked this patch
People don't have time to get every character to level 3, on the chance that they might be meta
Its good for otp
Bad for fill players
And just bad overall
Could you quote a single game that has this kind of restriction for ranked ?
While I agree it does create a problem:
If you queue up for ranked, and every character you have to rank 3 is picked or banned does the system just auto dodge you?
Are you then required to have 20+ characters to rank 3 to play ranked?
If you have a solution to forcing brand new players to play 10+ games for rank 3 on characters they may not even enjoy then I'm all ears.
Also consider, that for new players, forcing them to play so many will probably just leave them confused and make them quit.
It's a bit of a cursed problem tbh. Issues no matter what you do.
Idk why its the same like 5 people who chirp this kind of thing.
Would be fine for me, so i would have the option to decide between countess, kwang and zarus support.
It can't work just out of the reason that many player only have 2-4 heroes suitable for a role, so if they would need to pick a hero on a off role, they couldn't, when the wrong heroes are picked/banned.
Besides of that things like that happen, but the better the players are the less of a problem it will become. The chance to get a troll in your team is lower than to get him in the opponents team.
People playing bad because they chose a character they have little experience on is not an issue. Learning a new character in ranked is completely fine because if you are trying to learn a character to get good at in ranked, it only makes sense to play that character in ranked. Them subsequently playing bad will of course drop their mmr, but playing bad is in no way out of the ordinary for any player even if self-inflicted.
OTPs commonly grief by picking characters they don't play. I would argue that especially the higher up you go in skill, the more the skill disparity will be between characters you do and don't play.
I don't think it's entirely fair that people are allowed to first time a character and essentially hand their team a 70% chance of losing unless they hard carry. It undermines the integrity of the matchmaking system as it believes you a playing a character you can maintain your current rank with.
I also don't think it's fair to just hand wave the issue and say it doesn't need to be addressed.
Maybe the solution is to have more restrictions on hero inexperience for the top 10% of players who are already more invested...
They should have to play the heros at least a few times before starting in ranked. It's not called practice mode..
Me rolling up to Dota 2 Immortal with 3 games on Invoker having mastered him completely:
Metas change constantly. If you make a limit to how much u need to play a character to play them in ranked, every player choosing meta (which realistically should be everyone, especially at higher ranks) would either have to play a ton of standards to start with to get every character to a sufficient experience level, or play multiple new characters every patch reactively to get everyone to the required level after the patch
Either way it's a huge time sink for any player, especially casual ones
This is useless, Nobody wants to play 20+ Heroes to level 3, just to Play ranked
20+ hours to hit level 3? That has not been my experience at all. To get past level 1 and 2 only take a couple games. Why is that so much to ask that a player in ranked has at least played a few games?
Standard mode and brawl are for trying things out. Not ranked. A player should at least know the abilites and how to play a character before they played ranked with them. Level 3 takes maybe a couple hours. tops
I'm pretty sure two games on standard will get you into level 2.
I agree with you, but every Player should know how to Play a certain hero. Im not a fan of new Players that plays ranked matches. Atleast what Omeda can do is to raise the Level cap of the Account.
For example you need to be level 50 to play ranked.
Its taken 10 games for me to get a character to level 2
And 16 to get a character to level 3
Same 5 people complaining about matchmaking ,toxicity, or ranked play.
One day they will wake up and realize it's a them issue
Yeah I agree they shouldnt, but i still think they should still be able to
No its a game issue. The matchmaking is some of the worst in online gaming. If the vast majority of games are a blowout then its the game.
Because almost everyone else stopped playing they were put in bad match after bad match. There ar eonly a few of us that care, want the game to succeed and aren't blind to the ongoing problems.
I'm not blind to ongoing problems I know the game needs things added to it but in terms of priorities atm matchmaking is at the bottom because it is fine.
Heroes of the Storm.
All of my games have someone afk or straight up feeding and you don't think matchmaking has a problem. That's being blind.
Matchmaking can't control what people do
getting to level 20 before ranked is enough of a boost in game sense to where hero pick shouldn’t matter
I've told him that a million times
He things matchmaking is this magic thing that can change people's mentals and make his teammates win their lanes and do amazingly every game
Well MM is always giving the other team the better players. That's the problem. Big Omeda is watching
true the game hates me specifically and only me
The only problem ive seen with MM is how easy it is for players who have bronze/silver level skill to get to gold/platinum, sometimes diamond. There is a specific dude Ive played agaisnt constantly that was in "Diamond" before Ranked release. Before Ranked Ive consistently been in Gold 3(What would be gold 1 now) and Plat 1. So average or better in skill. But for some reason I've ALWAYS nuked this guy in the carry lane. Its too easy to carry scrubs throught the ranks a good amount of the time
I don't know how good or bad mm really is, but in my experience it becomes really bad, when you play duo with some mmr difference between both of you. Got some games in a row 3 mates who were worse than all of the opponents, even with someone in his fifth match, but maybe everything is random in a lower elo.
Sometimes I truly think pred players are improving, and then I see this post.
Its the same couple people who probably die once and start writing novels in game chat and people just f1 to not deal with it
I'm about to unlock a char and play them for the first time in ranked right now - see you soon 😄
if all games have someone who is feeding in it, there might be a problem in the word feeding for you, cause everyone feeds sometimes, problem is intentional feeding, if someone is 0-10 and they try to play as good as they can but they are outskilled and not smart enough to play differently thats no bannable offense in my opinion
shit i have gone 0-9 once or twice in my carrer and im not a player who griefs games on purpose
