try fire blossom first it makes up for his bad dps and then uses the mage hp and magic power items for oflaners.

Fire blossom> flux matrix> world breaker> fill armor. Absolutely do not build him with any more damage than that. He works much better as a front line because his scaling is so bad. For a note you literally build him exactly like a severog.

Core:
Fireblossom
Oathkeeper ( Possibly sub for elafrost)
Flux Matrix

Flex:
Tainted Guard (vs Grux, Khaimera, Rampage. Multi ADC comps)
Stone Wall (vs Feng Mao, Twinblast, Wraith, Crunch, Kallari)
Double Tainted (Both Tainted Guard and Tainted Bastion. When you need antiheal but also even balance of PhysDef and Mdef)
World Breaker (When you could use some damage and Tenacity)
Unbroken Will (Heavy enemy CC, but minimal Mdmg / Single target Mdmg)

I also like running Bastion as my dedicated mdef item against gadgets, cuz at least in her ultimate, she cant shred %mitigations
