Hello sorry if this post inst directly related whit tf2 ( maybe yes cause is the only game i play) I need your help, it seems like my mouse sensitivity or tracking or movement goes wrong whenever I plug my laptop to power, recently I try play unplugged and I hit all my headshots with sniper (isn’t placebo cause I made some test plugged and unplugged and I hit worse when plugged in) my mouse feels fast and more precise but when plugged in feels like my sensitivity floats in jelly or something
I have a laptop whit ryzen 5 whit igpu Radeon graphics
GeForce rtx 2050
8gb of ram
mice: deathradder v3 Wired razer
I use ghelper to change power settings and delete armoury crate (laptop model asus tuf A15 ( the same problem on both )

MOUSE ISSUES WHEN PLUGGED IN
can you identify what is actually different?
like is the sensitivity actually different such that moving it the same distance irl results in different movement in game when plugged in vs battery?
or is it a change in latency like the time between when you move the mouse and when it moves in game
or is it choppy / less frequent updates like lower polling rate
or something else
also can you observe any difference out of tf2
like with the cursor on desktop
if you place some object to one side of your mouse and then do a 360 in game you can place an object on the other side and then move it between those objects to do repeated 360s and make sure they're the same
as long as no mouse accel
It seems like the dpi, maybe not but, the mouse feels more fast and go to where I point
you could maybe check like usb power saving settings in the windows power plan
I tried every trick or form to negate mouse acceleration so I thinks that’s not the case
never heard of it affecting mouse movement but idk maybe it could
yeah I don't mean that you have mouse acceleration
just saying as long as you don't, it's possible to roughly confirm that the sensitivity does or does not change
It’s turn off,
Maybe this is the case because it’s rare the dpi changes when u plug the power
I guess try to determine if the difference is in sensitivity or in latency or in update frequency
and try to determine if it's actually even anything to do with your mouse
maybe your tf2 is running worse and it's fully unrelated to mouse
Tf2 when plugged in runs at 144hz smooth
Unplugged has some fps drops bat nothing unplayable
At 1000hz polling rate
On the mouse
do you have an fps cap in tf2?
seems unlikely but maybe you are maxxing out the gpu which can add overall latency and you're perceiving that as mouse related?
But what if I determine if is a latency or update frequency, what’s next step
Nop it’s uncapped but I use mastercon at medium and I see the cap is like 400
maybe try capping it low and see if it changes the feel
like cap it around 150-200
just to test
if it's still bad that would rule out what I said
if you try a polling rate checker does it show 1000 for both?
The only thing that helps is unplugg the laptop
like one of those websites or tools that samples your mouse movement and tells the update rate
Mice and what? ( sorry if it sounds bad my language isn’t English)
try googling "mouse polling rate checker" and just confirm it shows 1000 when plugged in
it should
Recently I test and mice does 1000hz good
can you notice any difference in how the cursor moves on the desktop?
or just in tf2
Yeah, feels better when unplugged on both
When I use it plugged, I tried moving my mouse in certain directions and even on the desktop my aim feels better
not familiar with your exact laptop but does changing the power mode settings have any effect
like power settings / limits for the cpu and gpu and things
in whatever software you use to do that
I have like 3 modes , eco - balanced and turbo
The same on all
Only changes drastically when unplugged
is your screen refresh rate the same unplugged and plugged in?
or like if you go to testufo.com does it look equally smooth on both
I remember same on both but I’m not 100% percent sure, maybe when I go home I can test it
But I think was the same
(Thank u a lot for ur time dude really please keep helping me🥲 )
I am trying to think of what could be causing what you're perceiving but really I have no idea
usually it's the opposite with laptops, worse when unplugged and on battery
if anything
Me too bro, I did a research on google but nothing with the theme

Yeah I think the same , I have no idea and that’s why I came here for help
I can't imagine trying different usb ports would change anything but have you tried that?
I tried that bro
I use every usb port
And even dowload a software to see what’s the best and plug on the 3.0 without anything connected to the port
do you have any external monitor you can plug into the laptop?
like via hdmi
just to check if the mouse movement also has a noticeable difference there too
it would rule out anything related to the internal screen, some laptops do a bunch of garbage with the switchable graphics and refresh rates and panel self refresh and who knows what else
on the internal screen
ideally a high refresh rate monitor but even if you have a 60hz monitor or tv it could be worth testing
Bad for me, I not have a external monitor
I wonder if you're able to capture the issue on video
like if you put a mousepad or something over part of the screen and move the mouse on top of it
and record a video moving mouse back and forth with both the mouse and the cursor or game visible
ideally at high fps like maybe a phone that does 120fps or 240fps slow mo
that might help better understand what is actually different
Thanks that’s a good idea I’ll try when go home
Bro I discover that my mouse polling rate when unplugged doesn’t go below 1000hz but when plug in go above 1000 or 1001 (unplug is like 998) but works best on that number ??) wtf
but maybe if isnt a hz problem...
It's probably not that
the number you get is just an average of how many updates happened
but usb devices are polled at like 125 or 250 or 500 or 1000 or 2000 or 4000 or 8000 etc
no 998
so if you get a number lower than the polling rate it usually just the position was considered the same between two or more updates at some point
