#how do I install very low now?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
that's strange, setting the preset to destitute should make the preset become very-low
could you double-check that you saved the setup_hook.cfg file after you modified it to be destitute?
and just checking, where is setup_hook.cfg located?
could you check what the console command preset_level outputs?
setup hook is in custom
you can enter the command preset_level in console and then it should spew out preset=____ in console
do I do that right now or is there other ways to check before booting up tf2
that would be the best way to check
is it in custom/comfig-custom/cfg/app/?
or is it just in custom?
it should follow this directory path
as otherwise it's not getting executed
I'll check if I even have a comfig-custom folder in custom
let me check the preset thing
alright so
"preset=custom"
and setup hook is on destitute btw
do I close tf2 and check now
yeah
alright so
I'm in team fortress 2/tf/custom
I have no comfig-custom folder
@robust path
was there a comfig-custom folder in the mastercomfig.zip file you downloaded?
I don't believe so
just a tf folder which I took everything out of and placed in custom
yup just a tf folder
is there a cfg and custom folder in that tf folder?
yes
there is
In that custom file there's my add-ons and "mastercomfig-base"
so rn I'm in team fortress 2/tf/custom/tf/custom
so the stuff in the mastercomfig.zip folder outlines where everything should go
so like the tf/custom/ stuff should go in custom, rather than dragging the tf folder into custom
if there's anything in mastercomfig's cfg folder, that stuff goes into tf/cfg
gotcha
it still doesn't sound like that there's a comfig-custom folder, but just wanted to clarify that
so app and overrides goes in cfg?
perhaps you downloaded it before there was a change made for the comfig-custom folder?
correct
nope
I downloaded this when very low popped out of existence
like a few days ago I think
alright so
I'll just delete this config and reinstall it
and put everything in the cfg folder in cfg
and change setup hook to destitute
would that do it
you can extract mastercomfig's tf folder into your Team Fortress 2 folder which should put everything in its place rather than dragging everything manually if you want
yep should work
there was a change that made the app folder reside in tf/custom/comfig-custom/cfg rather than being placed directly into tf/cfg shortly after the new mastercomfig 9.100 update was released, it sounds like you downloaded it before that change was made
ah
alright
okay so
I'll delete all of this and reinstall low alright?
then I'll put everything in it's place and fix up setup hook
is the console command preset_value
and if it's working it should say destitute right
like
"preset=destitute"
yeah, if everything's working then it should say preset=destitute after you test with the command preset_level
and you can confirm that everything's set to the lowest (if you want, not required) if you put in module_levels and skim through all of the module values
alright
let me do all of this and I'll tell you if it works
deleting my config rn brb
oh and btw
how do I make water see through
@robust path
do I gotta put water on a high setting
you should be able to do that by bumping up the water module higher, yeah
you could test the different water levels to see which ones has decent see-through ability
you can start out with water=low and see how that is
(and if you want to test the modules without restarting your game every time, you can just put in water_low or water_medium, changing the = to _ which makes it apply the game commands in-game, and then you can modify the modules.cfg in /tf/cfg/overrides/ to whichever desired water module level you get to)
leaving it to automatic should be fine
alright
here are more detailed explanations of each water module level https://docs.comfig.app/latest/customization/modules/#water
i believe hitting the book icon next to the module as you're changing it in the app should send you to the more detailed explanations
alright reinstalled
I saw
alright
so everything in cfg
In cfg
everything in custom in custom
anything else?
nope
alright
and setup hook set to destitute
oh there it is
comfig-custom
yeah I downloaded my config before you guys added that
what do I do with comfig-custom again?
you go into comfig-custom/cfg/app/ and then there's the setup_hook.cfg
and then you change preset=low to preset=destitute
and comfigcustom should be in custom right
yes, alongside the mastercomfig base and addons
alongside base and addons
alright
are you sure comfigcustom should be in custom if inside it is the cfg stuff
that should be in cfg
anything already in comfig-custom should go there
that's correct
so just to clarify comfigcustom goes in custom
you can also do this, this is the preferred method to install mastercomfig since it's just one step
I'm alr halfway through
alright
setup hook changed to destitute
and it's in custom
now everything in the cfg file
in cfg
?
do I put overrides in cfg or the cfg file in cfg
overrides in tf/cfg
like do I put the entire cfg folder or take overrides out of it and put it in cfg
alright
I already have a modules.cfg?
do I replace
yeah you'd replace
alright
that's from your older mastercomfig install
anything else
should be good
alright
@wraith radish has leveled up! (2 ➜ 3)
-noipx doesn't exist
I wasn't looking and I deleted a few keys while trying to type -console in the launch options
alright
look at my launch options btw
-novid -nojoy -nosteamcontroller -nohltv -particles 1 -precachefontchars -console
anything I should add?
dxlevel 81 too but I took it off because it causes performance issues to leave it written there I think
preset_level
alright
fingers crossed
YEAHHHHHHHH
IT SAYS DESTITUTE
so if I join a game I'll have no viewmodel and everything right
lemme check
*so if I join a
game I'll have no viewmodel and
everything right*
well
It does look like very low
but for some reason I'm still having frame drops in some community maps
nvm I think it's just wonderland being shit
I'm on ugc and it works fine
dude THANK YOU so much
god bless
hm
maybe it's assets still loading
do you have any tips for more performance boosts
also, if you want you could copy setup_hook.cfg and paste it in overrides just so that if you ever reinstall mastercomfig and it overrides comfig-custom you won't have to change it to destitute again
overrides exists to make sure any of your actual custom configs won't get overriden by mastercomfig (except for modules.cfg which gets updated whenever you change it in the web app)
should be this https://docs.comfig.app/latest/customization/modules/#panels
