#Shadow detail keeps resetting after TF2 restart
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
*the reason why the detail changes after you restart, is because the config that you're using is overriding it
whether it be some custom settings in your autoexec.cfg, or mastercomfig, or...
if you're using mastercomfig, then you can modify your shadows using modules: https://docs.comfig.app/latest/customization/modules/
(there is a shadow module, but i would read the top of the page to see how to use modules first if you're not familiar)
(you could also select the shadow level you want on the app and then redownload)
I did have ultra shadow detail when downloading, and I also had a custom setting in my autoexec to put it at ultra too
And damn, seems like reinstalling mastercomfig broke some parts of my custom HUD.
And it somehow also broke my developer console in which I can't access it by pressing the assigned keybind to it
it is possible that the shadow detail might be set to medium in the in-game settings, however the highest settings are still being applied on the back-end
the in-game settings menu doesn't always report the correct levels
what parts of your hud are broken?
are you sure that the developer console is still enabled within the game's settings?
Developer console is indeed enabled within the game's settings, and the HUD turned out to be a problem with TF2's latest update.
is the developer console key set correctly?
Developer console key works now, only thing is the shadow detail now.
could you please put shadows_level in console and see what it says?
It said " shadows=ultra "
seems like it's being set properly then
if you want, you could confirm all of the commands are set correctly by putting r_shadows;r_shadowrendertotexture;cl_blobbyshadows;r_shadowmaxrendered;nb_shadow_dist;r_shadowlod in console which will tell you what they're set to
