#TF2 visuals will freeze, game will still run

could you please also send your cfg and custom folders?
I don't have any more custom folders, but will send them. All the folders should've been reset as I did cleanup, uninstalled tf2, and manually deleted all the TF2 folders
@stray nova has leveled up! (21 ➜ 22)
you can .zip them up and send them
did you test to see if the game would alt-tab fine while the game was at its completely default state (no autoexec.cfg)?
I had my full autoexec from day one, so no as of now
Also would like to mention that now even while in-game it happens after playing for a bit, which is pretty weird, alongside it being seemingly easier to do when alt-tabbing
This is definitively due to something messing with the visual elements though, since the game runs even after the screen freezes
After quick testing it seems removing -windowed -noborder made it so it doesn't freeze, will try with just -noborder
It seems like it fixed it?
Well, since that seems resolved, anything here that is maybe wrong perhaps to fix?
(PS: The launch options there were just an archive for my old ones)
net_graph probably shouldn't be enabled 24/7, it can cause some performance degradation over time
mat_queue_mode should be set to -1, not 2
fps_max should probably be set to 1000 rather than disabling it
(and yeah those archived launch options aren't great lol)
I have a bind for that one to enable/disable it in-game (as shown in the autoexec)
As for fps I sometimes go over 1k fps, not regularly though. Does it make much difference considering how little tf2 takes in temrs of performance?
Besides those, anything I should include for increased performance maybe? Any QOL you'd suggest?
i mean it's best to eliminate the chance of going over 1000 entirely as that can cause issues
mastercomfig :)
you could look into some sound removal mods (like removing the casual win sound effect etc), nosmoke...
i leave my game mostly at default, so i don't have much to suggest off the top of my head
there's some good stuff here https://docs.comfig.app/latest/customization/see_also/
Honestly want to keep my tf2 as vanilla as possible
Likely will get mastercomfig back eventually
Hmm new update on this it seems like every few seconds my game will freeze for a moment then go back to normal
Upon inspection seems to happen on all source games
might want to try clearing out some background applications
and making sure that windows isn't downloading any updates or something
None of those, I tried to disable CPU Packing via command prompt, haven't fully tested it yet
make sure overlays are off as well
and could be helpful to run through some of these: https://docs.comfig.app/latest/os/windows/
All my overlays are off
Did all of these that were relevant
