specific map causing tf2 app to freeze

I cannot play on any servers running the map mge_chillypunch_final4_fix2 without it freezing my computer, making it impossible to close tf2 without restarting my computer entirely.
I've cleared my custom folder and reset tf2 back to it's default state and it still persists. I've also tried replacing the map and trying to redownload it, but to no avail.

At this point I'm out of options. This doesn't happen on any other map (including other mgemod variations).

This is what's in my folder, although I downloaded it directly from tftv so I'm not sure what's the problem.

I cleared my config and reset tf2 to it's default state and still no dice by the way. The only other option I have left is completely reinstalling tf2, although that doesn't explain why mge_chillypunch_final4_fix2 doesn't work while literally every other map does.

went down to 81 and still no change. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that changing my dx level doesn't work since I don't really want to keep retsarting my pc after testing every single dxlevel

although if tf2 was properly set to its default state, then that wouldn't be happening since there would be no script involving wait commands present

Besides a config I have to make running a warmup server quicker (it’s contents is literally just allowing point server command, sv cheats, setting fake lag, etc.), I only have my class configs that have interp settings and inconsequential class binds.

It shouldn’t matter though because my game is crashing even when I clean up tf2, which includes having a completely new cfg folder

or did you completely leave tf2 in its default state, not adding anything back at all during testing

At the time of testing, nothing but the obligatory novid, resolution settings, and dxlevel changes

My actual launch options just has a few more but mostly similar to what mastercomfig recommends.

not as far as i know, but any changes to that would likely be manual

unless you have some applications installed which do that--one of them being process lasso

see if the process priority is being put to anything other than normal, and check thread affinity

It’s strange that it only happens on one map. At least when other maps are broken, I can at least alt + tab.

I’ve found that if I alt tab right before I start connecting to the server I can sometimes “save” my computer from completely freezing, but then I have to go to task manager and kill tf2 manually and the timing is finnicky.

i wonder if you could avoid computer crashes if you set the process priority to lower than normal

so then potentially the resources would go to other os stuff like ctrl + alt + del and not waiting for tf2 to become responsive again

have you tried completely reinstalling tf2? (steam cloud disabled ofc)

i recall there being a few bugs with previous users, primarily issues with materials, that would persist (after a clean-up as well) up until the game was completely reinstalled

perhaps there's one specific niche thing that happens on this map that doesn't play well with your current tf2 install?
