TF2 Gets Washed Out/Very Bright | mastercomfig | Page 1

I am not sure why, but every time I try to use Mastercomfig, my game gets super washed out and bright like in this screenshot and in this video https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/lq99n5/my_game_seems_to_be_washed_out_and_have_no_idea/

I have done a process of elimination, and it is not my preload cfg script, not my hud or mods, I've done a full clean installation of TF2. But as soon as I try to get mastercomfig again, it happens again. Fullscreen optimizations is off. Sometimes it will happen and sometimes it will not.

Any suggestions?

Ive never messed with the mat_monitorgamma setting not sure what it does

Have you tried the game with dxvk (-vulkan launch option)?

It's maybe worth trying to narrow down whether it happens on both dxvk and dx9 or just dx9

Also are you using windows auto hdr or nvidia rtx hdr or anything like that?

Probably only applicable if you have an hdr monitor

I don't know how those things interact with tf2 but it wouldn't surprise me if they caused some issue like this

I think it may be my hud funnily enough, I think it only happens when using CENTER HUD

Try changin mat_monitorgamma to 2 or 2.2

I think it is mastercomfig for some reason

When I remove the VPKs it doesnt happen

Well it's one of the settings in tf2 probably, perhaps in combination with something else about your setup

Centerhud has an optional refract material that people use for the transparent viewmodels effect, are you using that?

Maybe take a video of the issue to post here, I thought the reddit video was yours but turns out it's someone else's

Also try vulkan, try dxlevel 81, etc

Check if it happens on low mastercomfig preset or just high

#

The answers to those things will provide more information about where to look for the problem

For some reason my game does not like mastercomfig or my cfg files in the override folder

I remove the preset and remove the overrides folder and the game is not washed out

It seems like you're not making any effort to try to narrow it down

try other mastercomfig presets for starters

#

see if it happens on high, low, both, etc
