Iām a TF2 boomer too, I donāt think that explains his abrasiveness, and I agree with some of his general sentiment but disagree with his methodology and many of his takes.
Like I think Valve should have higher standards for maps they accept into the game, we donāt need 10+ every season, 5 or maybe even less high quality ones would be better. I donāt think we should fault mappers for it like Zesty seems to think though, anyone can and should make maps, Valve should just screen maps better.
Same with cosmetics, Valve needs higher standards and needs to check the paint regions of different cosmetics before accepting them. I think modelers should document how to do paint regions better so itās not as prevalent of a problem, but again, Valve adds them to the game not the modeler.
My issue with Zesty is he is essentially the equivalent of what he condemns so much. He condemns mappers and cosmetic makers for making low quality items and hurting the game as a whole. But then he is so abrasive and under-informed as a TF2 boomer that he enforces the āsalty TF2 boomerā stereotype that turns our own community against boomers and scares off newer players, mappers, modelers, etc.

Honestly I wish pyrovision was expanded. I think itās cool when you play a map with actual pyrovision but the list of supported maps is so microscopic relative to the modern map pool.
pyrovision is awesome though in the lore imo. Pyro only being able to commit atrocities through a goofy childlike vision is pretty raw

I think the idea is that these are supposed to be old maps that could see a comeback. They looked specifically for maps with pro versions with active maintainers, and gravel pit for the vibes.

and i commented under the pinned post that there's no stealth patch you can check steamdb and this is more likely a bug with whatever server plugins there are on the custom server they're on since the projectile code is 100% untouched

if you check the code change from this patch, you'll find that the df projectile code is 100% untouched, so there's no conceivable way that the patch would have affected the bonus damage hitreg
since it doesn't look like you can replicate it, this is more likely a bug with the server plugins that this custom server is running

Why don't the Sixense convars show up in the TF2 developer console in the SDK, but do in the live version? Every file I've looked at implies they should be present at least, even if the Sixense SDK is missing.

open the steam console (go to steam://open/console in your browser), and type download_depot 440 232251 8833590201142741005, then copy those files into your main tf2 dir
you can also just force the game to use proton in properties, but i've had trouble switching back from that before so i wouldn't recommend it personally

Ehhh. Depends on the player models in my opinion. If it improves contrast between player model and the background then Iād say yes itās cheating.
But from the look of their pyro gloves and their hud player model, it looks like neutral colors would be nearly indistinguishable from the background and team colors would be mildly tinted black. So in my opinion it would probably be a disadvantage. Also I think flat textures are cool as hell.

So 2 in a row would be 1/(100*100) or 1/10000 chance. So 0.01% chance to get a back-to-back paint drop, assuming the 1% drop rate is correct.

You can usually expect to receive a max of 10 item drops per week (itās possible to get more but the odds fall off sharply). So itād take 1000 weeks or 19ish years to expect to receive a back-to-back paint drop.

I just assumed your 10,000 item drop would be back-to-back paint. I think there are ways to calculate when youād be more likely than not to get it, above a certain threshold, and nearly certain to get a back-to-back paint drop. But that stuff is for people smarter than me.
Also kind of an interesting coincidence that if someone played since release (assuming game had item drops on release, which it didnāt), then theyād be at that 19 year-ish zone right around now. Makes me wonder if b4nny has gotten back-to-back paint drops.

You can make a texture which only covers the area that the viewmodel is. Itāll still make that area blurry but itāll be less noticeable elsewhere.
Xhud has a low-blur right/left handed transparent viewmodel texture you could probably steal for yourself or test in game to see if it does what you want.

to my knowledge there are now only two free divs and one of them is explicitly for people who have never played comp
so if you've played before you have to either play in amateur or give them money. which means am is now full of stompers from higher divs and it's entirely unfun

Also the schedule is just kinda cursed. Like matches starting at 10:30pm is kinda brutal. I get it's so people have time to drive home and play a pregame if they're on the west coast and stuck in LA traffic. But playing matches till midnight is just a big ask from an aging play base that is mostly guys in their 20s-30s with full time jobs.

I think at the last RGL lan there was something like a 2 or 3 hour snakewater game. It was just failed last pushes. Idk how many round resets there were, but probably at least 10
TBH snakewater plays fine. I just think there needs to be some kind of incentive to not just round reset. I've thought in the past of some kind of system where after where round resetting will give the offensive team an advantage. My proposal originally was moving their spawn to forwards, or starting them with a 1 cap advantage, so the mid fight would instead be something like a second fight. If you make round resets less powerful then snakewater is definitely an A tier map in the pool.
Last stalemates are kind of lame on every map, just snake water's is particularly defendable, but the problem is the strategy itself IMO. No one has ever thought "wow that was a really cool round reset."

yes i have also put a decent bit of thought into the small but significant fundamental pathological issues with 5cp. for me, i was thinking about changing spawn waves or something. but the risk of an overly strong boon for attackers is also that maybe you incentivize attackers to hold second for a reset until you grind the reset boons
Snakewater second is also kinda lame IMO. It's just like 5% too big. 2/3 soldier sacs require c taps and are still super floaty and avoidable. The 3rd soldier sac is the pogo through window which is easily messed up and only if the medic is playing in a dangerous spot.
Sunshine second is similarly open but flank is more accessible and medic rotations are slower so you can get more creative with it.
for example giving teams like a 1-2 second shorter spawn wave. another idea that someone floated was giving a team a 1 second earlier rollout advantage to mid

I think it also has to do with the fact that 6s has always had 2 matches a week in higher divs, where as HL always has 1 match a week. So I guess you could have back to back match days, but I think that'd also get push back. I'm not opposed to weekend matches for 6s, just playing devil's advocate.

Honestly the ping from east and west coast isnt a major issue. Most comp servers are dalas, kansas, or chicago, so its like 30 ping to east coast, 50 to west coast. For some reason RGL gets a lot of brazilian players on 200+ ping too? There used to be a rule on ping but I think its not enforced or was literally made because of one blatantly lagswitching player and then removed afterwards
i know invite players were talking about 5cp issues over ten years ago and it was never solved. i guess stuff like progressive overtime helped to a small degree

i would say no resup bind at all, only change class in front of cabinets, and like make sure there are cabinets within reasonable range from the door. sometimes itās the mapās fault
you can just add more cabinets to the map
tbh I think a lot of the stalemate issues, at least to the extent that they are now, come down to mechanics that are nice and fun in isolation but favour defenders just a little bit more. Like the crossbow
give crossbow 3 arrows total per life, not resupplyable.
the crossbow also allows you to push faster into last before they fully set up so thatās complicated i think
my issue with crossbow is it means defenders don't need to rotate out as much or for as long. And that's what makes stalemates such a constant issue
lack of resup binds funnily enough also makes pushing out slower
although thatās less of a problem than sustain against a push probably
people REALLY hated the resup change in comtress in the oz cup
