i am actually a brutalism defender. I think architecture that emphasizes the geometry of a building rather than on decoration has its place. It gets a bad rep because of rectangular buildings based entirely on efficiency and utility, but that kind of critique could be applied to most architectural styles just as well. Like imagine if our idea of New Classical architecture was based on McMansions, that's what brutalist architecture discussions are like

It’s not a very good comp map either. Everyone either sits on the ramp or the battlements, the demos exchange spam. Every so often everyone rotates while the sniper tries to shoot your combo from the opposite side. Flank isn’t great either because a sentry can just exist for free, and everyone except demo and sniper is bored and their only entertainment is looking for spy/flank.

Easily the most boring comp map, at least of the maps I played. Lakeside might compete, but I thought lakeside was fun as long as your sniper and the enemy sniper are evenly matched.
On Ashville if snipers are equal then they just spend the entire game trying (and usually failing) to catch a glimpse of the other while everyone else cowers in fear.

back when nr6s was a thing it ran koth/pl/5cp. the four meta classes continued to dominate koth/5cp, but on payload engi and pyro often replaced scout

Nr6s was kinda interesting but wrangler in 6s is crazy. Espescially because the PL maps they had were the ones with the most notorious last pushes (upward and badwater?).

My team swapped cart-bitch scout for a banner + pain train soldier. On offense we started with 2 meds and then 4 machina snipers on initial gate open, then 3 switched after about 10 seconds. Then I think it was double soldier, double med, demo, sniper for offense.

On defense I think it was single med, soldier, engi, demo, sniper, pyro / heavy depending on situation and map.

I think nr6s was an interesting concept, shit game mode but if they had taken the info and loosened some normal 6s restrictions based off what they learned it would have been neato. But that didn’t happen because people boring

the first nr6s tournament was march 2019, and at the time the global 6s whitelist (a thing that at one point existed 💀) had 28 weapon bans. now there are 21, and 7 more are up for a vote this year

Idk if that was a result of nr6s. Bans have slowly loosened over time generally. Though I took a 2 year hiatus shortly after nr6s s2, so can’t say for certain

since nr6s started the atomizer, mantreads, dragon's fury, detonator, gas passer, scorch shot, steak, and solemn vow all got unbanned. and the diamondback got banned but I have no idea how that wasn't banned at the time lol

notice how only 3 of these are weapons for classes that actually see play in 6s. how would they have known to unban the other 5 without nr6s showing that the offclasses aren't actually overpowered with them?

I think two of the lessons learned from nr6s are "pyro isn't actually unfun to fight" and "the steak to mid theory was so fucking stupid"

I kinda get banning it on the premise of bhop gardens being buggy and kinda just random insta kills. Idk if something changed or if I’ve just been practicing them more. But I can get ~5 bhop chains with something like 60% consistency.
Granted that’s running rocket jumper so I have the feedback of the audio to confirm I’ve done it right.

I played a 2fort scrim a while ago. Honestly wasn’t as bad as you’d think. With only 6 players if you commit to trying to stalemate you’re either spread too think or too clumped, either way setting yourself up for failure.
I’d honestly say the biggest problem was that it was too easy to cap. If you get like 2+ player ad then if they try to stop you they get rolled and by the time they spawn you’re at your base.

I feel like dustbowl would be similar. Those old maps feel suuuuper crowded in 24p servers, but in 12p servers they can quickly feel desolate.
