18. Rh3 brilliant was the best move of this game. 👍

My opponent’s last move was capturing the pawn on a3 with their b_bishop. For a while, it seemed to me that my position was hopeless. 😂
Of course, I can’t take the b_bishop on a3, because after b_queen c3 it would be very hard to defend against all the threats the black b_queen would create. Apart from the simplest b_queena3, much more dangerous is b_queena1, and after w_kingd2 I would also lose the w_knight on d4 (b_queen d4).

Since we know that capturing the b_bishop is out of the question, we have to check the remaining threats. Although it looks a bit strange, the w_pawn on b2 is pinned. That’s why the black b_queen can safely capture my w_knight on c3 on the next move. Even the seemingly trivial capture of the w_pawnon f4 (b_queen xf4) could also prove dangerous.

The only move that saves the position is 18. w_rookh3. brilliant
Now w_rook defends the w_knight on c3, capturing the b_bishop on a3 becomes possible. The w_rook also effectively controls the entire third rank. My opponent chose to capture the w_pawnon f4 with check. I calmly moved my w_king to b1 and eventually I managed to win the game.trophies
