yeah prep is different I agree, but right now I dont have any tournaments that reuqire prep and I think its better to learn the openings first, in the tournament that I play weekly the pairings are not public for some reason, you get there and its a surprise who you play. But step 2 is to ask my club head to find mes ome tournaments (so I can get my rating up) and there once I have already learned my openings I will use chessbase to prep (if I learn how to use it)
