@grim edge I enjoy 9... Nc6 here because of 2 reasons. 1) dxe5 dxe5 opens the d-file which will be an advantage for black because of the existing tempo. That is either Rd8 and move the queen to establish control, or white moves the queen first and Rd8 to take the free file. 2) If white plays d5 then we get our ideal position. If we played exd4 then the open e-file dynamic is weaker, and white undoubles their pawns. If they play d5 then they keep the double pawns, and c6 will later exist. This idea of playing Nc6 d5 Nce7 is a strong way to stir the position into a favourable structure.

here is my advice
you want to preserve your pieces (not pawns) as much as you can to use to defend/attack. What you should realise is that your knight on c6 is exerting important control over squares around your queenside, and that you shouldn't trade it away "for nothing".
it can be hard to predict or see tactical patterns all the time, but there's principles like "preserve your pieces and don't trade them" because they're usually important

Brilliant moves on chesscom misrepresent reality often. The way the algorithm for brilliant moves works is that it pretty much calls moves that are a sacrifice that is at least fine brilliant even though in reality they often are like 2 or 3 move calcutions that aren't hard to find in reality. The fact to the matter is some sacrifices that work aren't that impressive to find and some good moves that aren't sacrifices are impressive to find but chesscom doesn't represent that properly at all. Please don't become another one of the thousands if not millions who has been brainwashed into believing this stuff. I don't want you to get confused and have your chess suffer as a result.
