when i was 1100ish i like to learn new openings and stuff so i'd go through the book and when i was confused on an evaluation, id play against myself.

For example if i didn't think white was better even tho he said so, id play against myself and try to prove it. IT's not that bad actually, I didn't have many people to play with at the time (screen time limited) and obviously the kind of opponent around my level would be myself. It helped. I still play against ymself when i need to look at some openings and lines, etc. Double check with engine.
