Nonetheless, at beginner level the opening doesnt really matter as long as you're not blundering pieces, its way better to focus on tactics and middlegame/endgame study

FIDE is just a bad system for measuring peoples skill, so the titles dont actually represent the whole population. Players like that are probably missing out on the OTB rating because of lack of access to FIDE events, I know in my area I'd have to drive 8 hours or take a plane just to go to fide events, and then still pay a lot in entry, hotel, etc. Many people get good on online chess, and play IRL, but dont get to play in fide and go for titles. But they all get acused of cheating because people see GM as untouchable.

whenever im in a random middlegame its easier to think of squares as "whites kings bishop 4" for either me or my opponent, i can visualise that a lot more than i can "f4" or "f5" cause i dont need a grid, just the image of a chess board
