For a move to be classified as brilliant on chess.com since November 2021, there are 3 criteria:

1. The move must sacrifice material (even if the opponent should not take that material).
2. The move must be good, although not the best.
3. You get a boost for 1+2 if your rating is lower than master level.

Before November 2021, the definition was different; then a brilliant move was a move that was not the best at low depth but best at high depth.
