so i downloaded stockfish, and i'm making it play a game against itself. it's very very interesting because both sides are doing theoretically the best possible moves but it's evaluting the position just slightly in whites favor. which i see as literal proof that white has just barely an inherent advantage over black, which is bonkers. the least that it's gotten is +0.24, which is so small but it is not +0.0. i'm using stockfish 16 and only getting 7 Mn/s so definitely not the best, but there's not much room for error.
