Long as you don't lose a piece in the opening playing bad fundamentals openings don't matter. You prob just need to focus more on tactics puzzles, and some basic endgame stuff. Rook/King mates, pawn endgames, etc. Ive got like a 80% win rate in endgame. I studied a lot of endgame ideas early on which I think helps me more than I realize now.

Just comes with practice. I think the best way to look at middlegames for me is just your mostly working on improving your position (setting up threats) and looking for them to underdefend other things that you can attack quickly. Usually their gonna respond to the main threat your making, but that also sets up other weaknesses/tactics in different ways. Thats how I look at the middlegame rn

Play lichess puzzles, they have a ton from real games. And the difficulty scales up the more rating you gain. If you drill enough ur just gonna calculate sequences with ease. Tactics probably is free elo until 1500-1600 after that u start needing to know some basic theory I think.

Arbiter actions I have been involved with:

• Illegal moves (in rapid & blitz). It's routine, the other side gets an extra minute.
• I flagged once in blitz, arbiter noticed it. (Good work!)
• Clock broke. The arbiter brought a new one and set it to the time we agreed. (I note down time every move.)
• Clock was set incorrectly, no increment after move 40. While the arbiter was fetching a new clock we agreed to a draw.

In none of those was the conduct of the arbiter any problem.

If your opening is universal against everything, it needs to be passive. That's very natural. You either choose something that starts passive like KID or QID, or you play different lines depending on what your opponent plays.

My public repertoire is 1.e4 (Delayed Alapin, Caro-Kann Endgame Offer) and 1.Nf3.
With black Four Knights Sicilian vs 1.e4, and Semi-Slav against everything else.

But I've recently crafted a new private repertoire, which is more aggressive. Still in the process of adapting it. My goal is one private option everywhere, so that opponents can't prepare.
