Knights are funny pieces. They look a bit awkward, but they’re incredibly tricky. In many positions, a knight can be more annoying than a bishop because it jumps—so normal chess logic doesn’t always apply. I often think about good squares for the knight, especially outposts where it can’t be chased by pawns. Once a knight lands there, it can just sit and torture the opponent. Also, in practical games, knights create tactics—forks everywhere. Even strong players miss them under pressure. So I’d say knights are very practical pieces. Maybe not always objectively the best, but in real games they cause problems. And that’s often what matters most. ♞
