I’m specifically looking for iconic chess moments where tempo played a decisive role, for example

• A player being forced to move the same piece multiple times, losing development while their opponent brings more pieces into play

You can find this in many endgame examples for example a king only vs a king and pawn only usually the game is either a draw or a win for the king and pawn based on who it is to move. It’s probably even more interesting that sometimes it’s not really about having an extra temp sometimes you actually would like to “skip” your move since any move you make is bad.
