Hey I have a question for anyone above 1200, I’ve been playing chess for about a year now and have gotten to 1200, and once I reached mid 1100-1200 the game just completely stopped being fun anymore. It feels like every opponent is way better than I am, and nothing I can try to setup or develop works. The only way I win games is by then just being stupid and randomly blundering pieces. I’ve plateaued at this elo for a couple months now, and I don’t have fun with the game anymore. Is the only way to have fun now just to spam puzzles until I improve, or should I just stop playing if it’s not enjoyable anymore

Find what makes chess fun for you. That should be front and center.

But you don't need to improve. Playing chess because you like figuring out positions, or you like openings, or whatever, is totally fine.

For improvement, analyze your games with a training partner. You will find that you likely have huge holes.

The appeal of chess is that it is really, really, really hard. It will realistically take a decade or two of focused training to become really good.

• A good microphone (they're quite cheap nowadays)
• A decent camera
• Engaging content
  Then your chances aren't bad. You're not going to be the next GothamChess, but you can likely have a nice community.

You're likely skipping a proper thought process, e.g. consciously going over every capture your opponent plays. To learn this, the prime recommendation – aside from puzzles – is playing longer games.
