One thing you could have done better is to be slightly more aware of the pawn structure. In general you want to avoid isolated doubled c-pawns. And you could have played ...e5 after you went f6 to gain space control and to allow your to go bishop on e6 instead of d7. Besides that, good game!

I think Caro is more unpredictable in the counter attacking department. Most Caro players only play the opening for its “solid” reputation and sometimes win because the games can randomly generate attacking position from my experience. Whereas with the French, if the Black player is not counterattacking whatsoever or doing his planned moves, hes cooked (and I got the planned moves so when my opponent plays a wrong move, I’m cooking him)
