It really depends on the position.

Your Bishop is very active/strong when it's not blocked by pawns, or any piece. The more square your pieces control the more active they are. If your Bishop is blocked by pawns there is not much it can do. In open positions they can control more square than a knight which can be a huge advantage

In a closed position knights are better because they can jump over any piece, which no other pieces can do.
