So the purpose of f3 is to
-Support e4
-Play Be3 without Ng4,
-Maintain piece flexibility,
-Prepare g4.

One setup contains Be3, Qd2, and O-O-O.

And you’d play g4, h4, etc. to launch the attack.

The other setup is Bd3, Ne2, and O-O. Because e4 is well-guarded, your center is very solid and your pawns can kinda stay there.
