The e6 pawn is protected by your bishop and another pawn. Overall, just make sure your moves make sense. Like why on earth did you take the pawn in g2 with your bishop? So my friend and I are rubbish at chess, but he started a 3 day game with me yesterday. I forget about it, but see after 2 moves he plays C4, D4, which I look up and learn is likely to be the Catalan Opening.

I in turn start to look up ways of defending the Catalan, which when my friend learns gets annoyed and considers it cheating. Do y'all think that is?

C4 d4 is very transpositional play the Nimzo Indian order so if he plays the Catalan you can transpose to a queens gambit declined then slav capturing the pawn comes with risks
