Not sure if I can explain it, but when I play blindfold chess, I dont see the whole board at once. I can only visualize a 1/4th section of the board, and like I constantly switch between them.

So it's like, imagine youre looking at a map. But youre looking through a telescope. You cant see the whole map at once, but if you switch around different sections of the map, you get a better understanding of whats on the whole thing @coarse iris

The better way to remember is to chunk it into different smaller sections. Like this:
