I only started playing about 4 months back and lost most of my first few games so i got knocked down to sub 300 elo 🥲 ive been winning most of my games now, but the damage is done and im only back up to 370 elo. its abit frustrating grinding for elo now, i only get 9-10 elo per game so id have to win 100 games in a row to try playing better players

I mean if you’re looking to get good it helps to know some opening principles (try to control the center, develop your minor pieces first then major pieces, don’t move your kingside pawns too much and keep your king safe, etc.) but it’s the moves you make in the midgame which really make or break your game.

A lot of improvement in chess comes from playing games yourself, making mistakes, and analyzing your games afterwards. I recommend playing on longer time controls (15|10 minimum) and really taking your time to think through your moves as you play, as that’s the best way to learn and will give you a huge leg up against others at lower elo who tend to be awful at time management.

And always remember to analyze your games after you finish them, even the ones you win. Even if you played well in a game and crushed your opponent, there are likely to still be many smaller adjustments you can make to your development and other tactics you overlooked that can seriously improve your position in future games.

And most of all, have fun! Ok maybe that sounds a bit cheesy, but at the end of the day chess is a board game meant for entertainment, so feel like you need to take it too seriously

In this case, this tree is a branch of chess games and the filter involves the number of occurances, winrate, and engine eval. The occurances and winrate can be obtained through the attribute of a node (in this case, a move) of the chesstree() object. Im trying to reduce the amount of times I need to scan the positions with because engines take quite some time

Can I see the full thing? You should filter by occurrences. Then win rate, and then only compute the eval if both the above pass (lazy evaluation) make sure you cache it so that it doesn't re evaluate it 5000 times
