well for one, learning lines is good for anyone at nearly any level. The depth to which the lines are learned varies, however in all instances the strategic ideas of the given opening will be learned in tandem with rote memorization of moves.

Yeah they can be, and I agree with you to a certain extent in regards to perhaps learning the opening plans and moves of that opening plan and you get the feel for the position by seeing the moves, but like sometimes there's super long lines and such that are super abstract and lower to intermediate players learning that is sort of unrealistic for them including me. I'd reccomend them looking at the moves for the opening it's just that there's a lot of portions of theory that are moreso just long lines of moves rather than learning in some instances more than occasionally
