(Please mind the awful cut it will be fixed) . I’m looking at a good solution to join a new base board to the existing one. Also I’m struggling finding a baseboard that properly matches. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Which one is the new board?

New board is yet to be purchased. I bought one however it won’t work

#

It’s not the right material and my old has the 2 layers (which I’ll probably have to make)

Maybe it's easier to just replace all of it than to try and match

If you don't care how they look, you can just pop the new one on and then chalk it

if you do, you have to take it off and miter cut the corners

Of the old base board right?

Another idea I had was removing existing base boards in a closet and replacing them with any new baseboard

sure, that sounds good. You will still need to miter and the colors may be off depending on how old the paint is and the UV exposure

The house is very new, colours all look fine

You want to look up how to cope baseboard, you don't miter inside corners

#

mostly because nothing in a house is square

How much base do you need, sometimes you can steal from a closet to do a patch job and but something easier and cheaper in the closet
