Hey guys,

first of all excuse my bad english.

So following Issue:
I build myself a frame, so that I can glue mirrors on it without leaving big gaps inbetween them.
One issue is that it is not perfectly flat and I used double-sided tape for glueing mirrors to them, therefore some parts of the mirror do not even touch the double sided glue.
It kept well enough for ±2 months and then suddenly one mirror fell and shattered.
Couple of hours the next one fell and damaged a part of my speaker.

So I do need help with those two issues:
How do I keep the mirrors in place very securely!

How to fix the Speaker-Damage? I am not even sure if it is wood, but it does seem so, at least cheap wood.

Kind regards.

// Edit: I do not own a planer/slicer(German: Hobel)

As a mono-linguist, I'm always embarrassed when someone apologizes for doing me the courtesy of communicating in my native tongue, when I couldn't even begin to attempt to communicate with them in theirs!

I can't help you with the frame, but I think the best bet for the speaker is likely a black Sharpie. While you will know you colored it in, I doubt anyone else will even notice the blemish.

Second for black sharpy or a wood finish specific touchup pen.

If you really want to match a gloss or something, you could try black nailpolish.

As far as the mirror goes, I dont think there's a solution we could provide outside rebuilding it and attaching the mirrors more permanently

If I would ever need to transport it. I would simply destroy the frame

if it were me, I'd do it with slots to hold the mirror so they're permanently installed

Regarding black sharpy, in my local building-supply-store they have fine filler/putty.
Maybe fill the damage with that. Wipe it a bit so it evens out and then sharpie ?

Think picture frame

in between?

#

you can cut a groove on both sides so they fit in

But using filler/putty for the scratch damage is a good idea ?

You need some mechanical way to keep the mirrors held down tight to the frame. Mirror clips (search that) come in all shapes, sizes, and finishes. You can make your own with acorn nuts or decorative nuts of some kind and machine screws.

That’s probably a good idea

I did it.
Next time, if there will be a next time...

I will pay more attention when buying those mirror clips, a pack contained 4 of them, but 2 variations (2 each).

one simple metal bracket, nothing special but exactly what I wanted.

the other one had a plastic slide and the metal bracket had two springs, so it could be extended.
which is not the issue, the issue is that the plastic slide was significantly higher/thicker than the more simple ones...

How well did you read the directions? I bet one of them (metal) is made for the bottom and the other is made for the top
