#Is my table frame good?

What do you mean by "aprons"?
Oh ok.
I kind of planned on doing something like that around the outside of the top. I plan on using pallet wood for the top.
This is my current idea for a top.
Something of this nature.
pallets are naughty and poison, no pallets.
What do you mean by that?
What else could I use then? I have no other wood to use.
I don't have any money to spend. I have to scavenge everything, hardware, wood, tools, you name it, I have to find it for free.
What do they coat pallets with and why?
Im sorry to hear that. Methyl Bromide and CCA
bugs
and there's still a rule against pallet projects here
Free is a tough criteria
I know. It is.
See if you can find someone throwing out a table or a dresser on trash day maybe?
Ok.
Well, maybe, maybe not. Depends if I find something.
If I can avoid it, I will. Otherwise, I have no better option.
But I understand the chemicals aren't ideal and are harmful.
I plan on either selling it, or keeping it outside. Probably just use outside.
Trash day is a good tip if you live somewhere well populated. Alternatively find a construction site and ask if you can raid the scrap bin
selling the chemical table seems a little bit worse
Well I live in a city, so it's busy, lots of trash. And a few sites around me.
I've seen pallet wood projects sell before.
But, I get what you guys are saying.
Ok, thanks.
Problem is people buying them don't know they're poison either usually
I also live in a city, there are literally folks that drive around collecting trash furniture every thursday
dragging a table home sounds so much better than lymphoma
I'd have to tow it on a wagon, or convince my dad to drive around. But he works a lot and the big truck is in the shop for a bit right now. Even then, my parents definitely don't want trash furniture laying around the property.
My dad didn't even really want me to collect some scrap wood for free to store in the shed to use for the project.
pallets are so much worse than someones few year old table lol
It's about 1 wheelbarrow full of wood I've got.
If you're in the US, Craigslist is an option. People are often posting piles of wood for free
Well, it's my parents rules in terms of what I can keep. We only have so much space to store stuff.
I know theres a few places around me that do that consistently.
bring a drill and a saw, break down the trash furniture outside
so you can keep it compact
you can be your own furniture dr frankenstein
Good idea.
Dont do the pallet thing! these are the effects of methyl bromide
a cheap table is not worth "persistant neurological deficit"
I agree.
Oh boy, those all terrible but "optical atrophy" is a special horror
Ok.
Cool.
What could I use for the table top other then the pallet wood? We have some plywood laying around. My construction teacher said ply wood isn't ideal because it looks ugly and will rot away.
You want to avoid pressure treated wood too
Ok.
It's usually greenish
From the chemicals?
I was told it would rot away if it's for outside, which it is.
I also find it kind of ugly.
By "outside" do you mean "will be rained on"?
Sometimes. Depends where I put it or if it moves.
But, it will probably see a lot of moisture.
Well I can't comment too much on outdoor plywood specifically but no wood loves to be rained on, it's going to deteriorate eventually.
