Hi everyone, I'm designing a salt cellar to make over winter break. The wood construction will be done solely by hand, but I have access to a haas 3 axis minimill, which will be making the mental linkages. Any comments / critiques of the design would be nice.

Why linkage rather than just a hinge?
The very complicated mechanism seems at odds with the simplicity of the actual object.
I’m also curious what the small pieces in the front and back are for.
That'd be the joinery I'd imagine single-box-joint type thing
Ah, gotcha. Silly me I always assume dovetails. 😅
i tried to simplify the box as the linkage is visually very busy
Is the linkage important?
no i just want to do one lol
I suggest a different linkage, that one seems to put the lid rather far away, and it may not be intuitive how to open/close it without applying force the wrong way and spilling salt all over the place
hmm good point
