So, you don't want to build and you don't want free-standing shelves.

I think all that leaves you with are shelf brackets purchased from the big box store and either melamine coated shelves purchased from the same place or plywood you buy and rip down yourself.

I suggest you get the big metal ones and save yourself from the frustration of unnecessarily restrictions
